My main problem is being able to crush and control the ball on the range, and when on the actual course my mind gets in the way and I don't play as well.

Couple of beers usually fixes that, but it would be nice to play in that zone all the time.

The fix is playing a lot of golf.

You need to play a lot of golf on an actual course without mulligans or cheating and getting used to doing shit right the first time.

Like the first time you get a birdie putt most guys are going to flub the fuck out of it (including myself, it was probably a 10 foot putt that I left 8 feet short). But if you play enough golf you will start draining some 15+ footers for birdie or par and that gets addicting really fast.

I played a ton of golf for like 2 years after my ACL exploded and got really good after awhile. The strange thing about golf though is the better you get at it the more boring it looks. A hacker who has no control of the ball and swinging it around getting a birdie or par looks way more exciting than someone locked in who nails every fairway and green.

Fuck golf though. Takes all your time. Basketball is still my game until my knees die for good.

I play quite a bit, and have for probably 10 years or so. Still limited to about 4 momths out of the year to play.

It's probably just the difference between not thinking and over thinking when swinging. Think too much and you'll have variations in the swing, by not thinking and swinging with muscle memory it's likely to be the same everytime.

Feels like the last hump to get over to playing really consistent.

I got pretty damn consistent for awhile.

The key for me was never thinking. For the most part I pick a spot and then imagine the swing I wanted to make. The hard part to do it consistently was the intense concentration required. I could never play well without really trying extremely hard. I envied my friend who could seemingly break 80 with apparent ease.

If you guys like tactical, team based shooters try Splatoon. I feel like I'm shilling for Nintendo but this game is warranted by the hype Nintendo fanboys (who have a tendency to overhype Nintendo games) and the media are giving it.

I'm surprised at how deep this game is with the weapons, classes and gear you can equip your character with and how much strategy* goes into playing with your teammates and controlling the map. I've been playing competitive shooters since Counter Strike Cal scrims back in 2001, pistol sniping dudes in Halo and fucking around taking teams out in Gears of War. Splatoon is legit with need to get some NFLGAF games going.

*All that being said I still can't believe Nintendo wouldn't implement voice chat in this game. I don't understand it but if you're playing with teammates who know what they're doing and what their role everything clicks.

Buy me it and I will. Got burned on HHour paid $40 to be in the beta. Not gonna beta test Splatoon for Nintendo

This is the basis for virtually every single sport ever.

Likely true.

It's tougher with Golf imo, because there is that moment between setting up and the swing. Whereas in some other sports it's more fluid and reactive.

I've always been better at sports like soccer, football, etc, as opposed to games which are more stop and wait then react like golf, softball, etc.
