NFL Offseason Thread - Who cares who won we got a draft to prepare for!

I know Mech jokes about it alot, but what are the odds the Texans actually do trade the #1 pick to someone like Cleveland?

My view on the trade market is:

-There are 3-4 elite non-QBs in this draft

-It's a deep draft with good starters to be found in the 3rd round

-Most teams in the top 5 all have lots of needs and would like extra picks

-But those teams don't want to miss out on the QB they want or the great non-QB talent they covet

-So you have a bunch of top 5 teams wanting to trade down, but not too far, and no top 5 teams willing to give up much in a deep draft when they can stay put and get a great player

-So I think there will be little movement in the top 5. The Raiders may be willing to move down if Clowney and the QBs they like are gone

Reading the drama about the NBA thread collapsing made me realize that NFL gaf really hasn't had that many issues. I don't think NFL gaf has ever been consumed by drama like that.

Kas, you gotta go on Twitter and protect your honor, brother!!

Why is Deion hating on the Lions? What did we ever do to him? I've always like Deion to. When I first got hired at Best Buy like 5 years ago new employees had to do a dance in front of other employees after some meeting before black friday and my 6'5 230 lb awkward ass did a awkward Deion shuffle in front of everyone. It was a Whitepeople.gif personified in real life.

Its OK though him and all the other "analysts" have been picking against the Lions for years. Its only time until the tides turn. They turned for the Seahawks, the Saints, the Cardinals etc.

I do have to get myself a Twitter account and call out famous people like eznark did to Peter King :jnc

I think we should go with the majority. Gentleman participating, please remember to update your individual mocks with your personal selection.

Greg Robinson to the Rams. I think he can become a dominant left tackle and will help Zac Stacy lead a ground and pound that minimizes Sam Bradford as much as possible. It's close to a no brainer pick for them if they can't trade down.

If we're going for what we think will happen I think the Rams trade out. I just don't know with who. Outside of that, can't disagree with Robinson at all.

Possibly the Raiders move up to 2 to take Clowney if the Texans take Teddy.

The Rams would be stupid to take an offensive lineman at #2. I'm starting to believe more and more that a Top 10 pick should not be used on an offensive lineman.

I think they trade down to the Raiders like Futurevoid said, grab an extra 4th round pick or so. If I were GM of the Rams I would take Sammy Watkins or Mike Evans to counter that Tavon Austin pick. Or take a the highest rated defensive player on the board.

Offensive lineman are becoming more versatile in terms of being able to plug them in at a variety of positions on the line. You can find a ton of guys more and more in later rounds as the Lions proved this past year.

Going from #5 to #2 would take more than just a 4th.

I think the Texans would be crazy to draft Shitwater at 1. I'd take Clowney at 1 and pair him up with JJ.

Think Rams could go for Watkins at 2.

1. Texans-Clowney
2. Rams-Robinson

Ideally they trade down, but they are not going to risk coming away with Watkins, Robinson, or Mathews. And I don't think a scenario presents itself where they can be assured of that. Watkins is enticing, but Robinson is the best OT prospect since the Pace/Ogden/Jones days

Texans are already slotted Bortles in this mock, but I'd go Bridgewater if I was Rick Smith. I think he'll be the best quarterback in the draft this season and in the future and I struggle to understand the problems analysts have with him. Same for Jacksonville- I think they should take Bridgewater, for sure. He has the work ethic Gus Bradley likes, and can provide the first sense of stability at the QB position for the Jags in ages.

Rams go with Robinson if they don't trade down, which is still a very real possibility. They could feasibly trade down to Oakland or Atlanta and still be able to get him at those spots, so I think they try and trade down. I'm just not sure if somebody will give up what would be necessary to do so.

You do your own mock. You don't have to follow everyone else. You can even do trades! Just keep a running log of what you are doing!

Trade! JAX swaps with CLE. Haslam loves the SEC and loves Manziel and tells his guys to get JFF. They don't give up their other first so it doesn't matter for the purposes of this mock

1. Texans-Clowney
2. Rams-Robinson
3. CLE (via JAX)-Manziel

Jax gets the guy they always wanted. Bridgewater.

edit: squick It would make no sense for CLE to trade up with the Jags

double edit: Oh okay you're doing your own mock. Carry on. Still would be a dumb trade for CLE or JAX

Ah I see. I think the Texans will take Clowney, Robinson to the Rams, then Bridgewater to Jacksonville.

I just don't understand what one hangs his hat on with Bortles as the top QB pick, besides his prototypical size. If he becomes a great QB I won't necessarily be surprised, but I think he's more likely to go the way of Locker or Ponder as a guy who was pushed up further than he should have been by the pre-draft process.

CLE gets spooked they will lose out on JFF to another team trying to trade up. Jags don't want him and will happily take a 3rd to move down a spot and still get the guy they really want

Idk squicky feels like you're reaching a bit here, I vote Clowney for jags.
Edit: my bad didn't realize Clowney was gone. Bortles is the pick

Those basketball games are the best.

I always give any non basketball prize away. Sometime I even give the ball away because the quality is horrible.

Released (Parole): Tom Penny, Slo
Missing/Escaped: Godslay
Dead: None

The guard puts down yankeehater and Futurevoid, though has to knock Futurevoid unconscious in the process. He then turns his attention to the still rampaging Kave_Man still busting up shower heads. Several others in the cell block try to focus on their laundry duties.

uvlU9WY.jpg

It only takes 5 minutes for Kave to be subdued and cuffed. The guard then proceeds to move everyone back to their cells.

Meanwhile MechDX. heading to the workshop for his shift, is still pissed off at having been attacked with a power drill while unconscious.

On the way to the workshop he spots Greg going into the laundry room with a laundry cart. Pissed off at what he and his crew escalated the day before, he chases after him to pick a fight.

EO1i1Qi.jpg

They quickly come to blows and a guard from the workshop comes in to break it up. While that's going on BlackGhost has somehow gotten away from the cell block and is trying to make a break for it and is being chased by a guard (hidden behind the To Do list).

1Ydw0DK.jpg

MechDX is quickly cuffed but Greg is putting up more of a fight. BlackGhost tries to lose the chasing guard.

NHWdCqt.jpg

With Greg finally down and cuffed the guard quickly runs out to try and help contain BlackGhost.

rMFlSrS.jpg

BlackGhost is severely beat down once again and cuffed.

DM meanwhile has avoided all of the drama over the past few days and continues to work his assigned job, and has suspiciously stayed away from attracting any attention.

Meanwhile in the holding cell, MechDX is still super pissed off and attacks the guard soon after the cuffs come off.

3CpSVBc.jpg

Mech is beaten unconscious. As that goes on, outside a worker brings in sheet metal materials for the workshop as other workers dump garbage. The guard heads out to quickly open the door for the worker.

JY9oGMm.jpg

Lunch is a quiet affair. DM and his crew discuss what to do next as Frankman stays off on his own.

More people show up for lunch. Things are slow going as many inmates aren't feeling very motivated to move any quicker.

After lunch everyone heads off to their afternoon work shift.

DM and Buckethead, on laundry duty, have a quick laugh at Greg who's still cuffed and stuck in the laundry room awaiting escort to the cell block.

On the way back to the laundry room, DM is jumped by BlackGhost. He takes out a shiv he quickly fashioned from the canteen earlier in the day to defend himself and manages to knock BlackGhost out and he lies bleeding on the ground. The fight attracts the guard on duty and he moves in. RBH approaches as well, looking to take advantage of the situation.

wKH0OOy.jpg

DM knocks out the guard and then charges RBH!

JEncr99.jpg

WedgeX runs up to back RBH up but breaks off as another guard manages to run over and take out DM. He is cuffed, but not before stabbing RBH a couple times.

0nuCnmb.jpg

As the guard is distracted by DM's mess, Cloudy grabs the dropped keys and makes a break for it!

LjBr0CF.jpg

Cloudy is almost home free, but a guard is catching up!

He fights for his life, pixels away from freedom. They fight unarmed, mano-a-mano. Can Cloudy fight off the guard and break free?

Will Cloudy get away from the guard and join Godslay as another escapee? Find out next time!
