NFL Offseason Thread - Who cares who won we got a draft to prepare for!

That's my problem with the movie. People like it and Spider-Man because it was the first attempt at the stories they read about on the big screen. They got a couple things right so who cares about the rest. That thinking is the reason Wolverine has no clue who Sabertooth is in the first movie, why Galactus is an effing cloud in Fantastic Four, or why the Transformers trilogy ended up turning out the way it did.

Hate to bring up Avengers for the millionth time, but all i'll say is that movie is the standard because they took the source material at face value. It was like reading the comics again - all of the little things. They didn't scrap something because they thought fans wouldn't accept it - they ran with it.

I can look past small changes, but stuff like making Glactus a cloud is to much. I like a lot of the stuff in the Ang Lee Hulk movie but the changes they made seemed silly and unneeded to me. I can understand why they changed Toad in the movies, comic book Toad wouldnt have been as compelling for the average movie goer.

I dont need 20 minutes soliloquies from Wolverine about why he is gruff. I was already familiar with all the characters from reading the comics for so many years. I just want to see Nightcrawler teleporting around and the rest of the group doing stuff. I was annoyed by some of the changes, especially what they did to Toad, but in the end they got most of the characters perfect and gave them interesting shit to do. Plus I could watch Ian Mckellen and Patrick Stewart discuss super hero shit for hours and never get bored.

I do hate what they did to rogue as she was one of my favorites growing up.

Per @rapsheet, Kubiak wanted to be the "head coach of the offense" including bringing in his own coaches. Got that in Baltimore. #Texans

Interesting, @rapsheet says on NFL network that the Browns didn't acquiesce to former #Texans coach Gary Kubiak's demands if he were OC.

Got damn. This was my warning with hiring Kubiak: don't let him have too much control. Almost guarantee the Ravens sign Schaub to a minimum deal when he is cut to "help" Flacco understand the offense.

The issue is that they didn't start prepping the roads sooner instead of waiting until 11am yesterday. Just a total lack of preparation from the city and state government. "Unexpected storm" my ass.

They rolled the dice on not canceling school yesterday and it came back to bite them in the ass.

People are abandoning their cars on roadways because of a dusting? What is wrong with the South?

One, southern States don't set aside budget for the infrastructure needed to handle snow, which happens once a decade or so. There's no salt.

We had a similar situation a couple years ago here in NC. Schools chose not to close, roads weren't pre-treated. By the time the trucks started rolling to treat the roads, there were thousands of cars on them. It was less than an inch of mixed snow and ice and it was a catastrophe. You get a couple accidents and there's no way to get to them or around them. Kids spent the night in schools. People abandoned cars and walked.

Monday night schools chose to close on Tuesday on the threat on snow starting around 2. They didn't want a repeat. Roads are pre-treated with a brine solution. Snow didn't actually start until after 6 so kids would have been home safely, but they learned their lesson in the last disaster.

Cowboys have promoted (demoted) Monte Kiffin to assistant head coach/defense. Rod Marinelli is now the defensive coordinator.

Just fire him, Jerry. :jnc

It is clear this is a move to keep Marinelli happy. The Cowboys wanted Marinelli to be the DC, but he is obviously very loyal to his friends(Monte). I think this is the only move the Cowboys could have taken if they wanted to keep Marinelli. If they fired Kiffin, Marinelli most likely leaves.

Rams fired their awful defensive coordinator. Wonder if Fisher will bring back Gregg Williams

I'm just saying...

Damn. Rams D would be super scary under a capable DC. The NFC Best is going to be a complete bloodbath for years to come.

Obviously they're not going to commit so much towards handling snow, but with what they already have, there was no reason for them to not pre-treat the roads with salt/sand beforehand when the forecast was general knowledge on Monday morning. And it actually snows once a year around here rather than once a decade. The frustrating part is that we've had more snow in previous years compared to yesterday, yet the city/state's response doesn't make it seem like that.

That front page headline on ESPN Mobile. Why are the 2008 Lions being brought up during the Superbowl?

LA would burn to the ground should a snow storm ever hit.

Sean Payton managed to bounty Percy Harvin w/o Williams' help, and it's not like SEA-SF played a nice clean game of no gruesome leg and head injuries. No place in the game for the bounty stuff, but the Rams need a good DC. Well I guess he can bounty Schotty

As of Sunday morning, Brian Gaine was still technically a finalist for the Miami Dolphins’ general manager job.

Three days later, he was escorted out the door — for apparently no other reason than his new boss, Dennis Hickey, didn’t want him around.

The Dolphins parted ways with Gaine on Wednesday after six years with the organization. He had risen as high as assistant GM under Jeff Ireland, and twice interviewed with Stephen Ross for the team’s top personnel job in recent weeks.

But the belief around the league is that Ross had all along planned to bring in fresh blood — and didn’t even do Gaine the courtesy of first telling him that the team was going in another direction. Gaine learned Sunday that Hickey got the job from reading reports in the media.

Some 72 hours later, he was out of a job — even though the previous week the Dolphins trusted him enough to run their scouting operation at the Senior Bowl.

You're overrating Harrison. Harrison was a (strong part admittedly) of a dominant defense.
The defense was great and had a ton of talent but it was Harrison IMO that pushed them over the top and made them special.

It seemed like every time the team needed a play he would somehow just make it happen. It was also a crime how little they called holding on him that year, he was basically unblockable.

It would be pretty hard to overrate the man!

Not going to shit on Deebo since I loved the guy too but he was only once named a team captain.

When I say we need another Peezy I mean we need a face of the defense again. As good as Deebo (and Troy) were they were never vocal guys to take over a defense.

As for Joey, Steelers don't beat the Colts without Porter. He had a magical postseason that year.

You people pre-treat your roads and use a brine solution? Whats with the south and their inferior driving skills in the snow? Up here we wing it and use a salt/sand mix after the roads become slick. Hardly any accident, really only accidents are young people that are terrible drivers and just as likely to crash their car/truck in the best of conditions

Don't really get much practice driving in the snow when it snows so rarely. It snows here maybe five days total out of the normal year, and its even rarer further south.
