He could be the next Brent. Jealous?

Oh and Bing......why do I get porn shots when I image search "Jerry Ricecake"?

The Texans have shown the innate ability to make all quarterbacks look like fucking shit. I'm not jealous, I feel sorry for whatever doomed young man gets run through that misery machine.

A new contender enters the tournament!

who the fuck is Brett Smith!?

Jayson Braddock ‏@JaysonBraddock 34m
@BoogaP never heard of him until I started watching yesterday. Blown away!

hahahahahaha, this guy is real?? He was considered a fringy top 10 qb all year long and this "scout" had never heard of him?

Good fucking Christ it all makes sense now, Mech. This guy is probably a Texans insider.

So embarrassing . He never has heard of the guy, watches one day of games, and now has him as his top QB. I get that some NFL media only start covering draft stuff after the season ends, but don't go around acting like an expert. No idea why this guy is doing radio hits

I love that he is baffled as to why there isn't more hype on the guy. Probably because everyone else in the country who gives a fuck has already watched him more than a couple of hours and determined he isn't the greatest QB on the planet?

I wonder if it had to do anything with Wyoming getting a new head coach.

That's a good point. I remember hearing him talked up as a potential high pick in 2015. Was billed as a Tony Romo type that needed seasoning. He played a game on ESPN and looked bad. INTs and his team struggled to move the ball against whatever awful team they played against.

It was just one game, and Brugler has him as the number 1 snub as far as not getting a Combine invite. But he's never been regarded as more than a project since he decided to leave early

Apparently Jets have interest in free agent wide receivers Emmanuel Sanders and Jeremy Maclin. I think Sanders is more likely to head to New England, but if the Jets drafted Marqise Lee or Eric Ebron and added one of Sanders or Maclin, their offense would improve immensely overnight.

I also wonder if John Idzik will be linked to any Seattle free agents this offseason. Golden Tate and Sidney Rice would also make a lot of sense for the Jets.

I really thought that SEA was no worse off for having Rice get hurt. He could never make some of the catches that Kearse made and didn't get initial separation like Tate and Baldwin. Though so much of what Tate and Baldwin do is come back to the ball on broken plays. Zach Miller wasn't really productive there and it could be that he and Rice need a "conventional" offense to really excel.

Fuck those guys, Jets should trade up and get Sammy Watkins. Dude is so good he made Tajh Boyd look respectable. Which would be great for the Jets cause Geno Smith is our QB.

Best football news of the day is clearly the news that the ATL podcast will still be 3 episodes a week in the offseason. There's my football content! =)

Zook won't be replacing Greene as OLB coach but he has been hired.

Packers have hired Sam Gash for RB coach as well.

Made a mock with that simulator, Got Darqueze Dennard in the 1st and Allen Robinson in the 2nd. Would be a nice 1st 2 round me thinks if Steelers landed that.

I just remembered something. When the Cowboys transitioned from the 4-3 to the 3-4 under Parcells in 2005, they supplemented the scheme change by using their first 3 picks on the front 7.

When Dallas changed scheme last year, they made no personnel changes and zero investment in front 7. They played 20 players on the defensive line in hopes of finding someone who would fit the scheme. Defensive line is arguable the most important unit in an under defense, and they tried to the meet the needs of the scheme with players from bottom of the barrel. Another thing to note is that Bruce Carter (WLB), played quite poorly often being spelled by Ernie Sims because the coaches lacked confidence in him. It also seems they were not really confident about the Sam position as well, Justin Durant signed to a two year deal, I guess they hoped someone would emerge.

Free Safety was also a huge weakness for the Cowboys, rookies Wilcox and Heath played terrible in pass coverage.

I honestly believe Kiffin was not given the personnel needed to run his scheme. I don't buy that his scheme is outdated or the game has passed him by. Pete Carroll, Lovie Smith, and Rod Marinelli use philosophies they learned from Kiffin. Pete Carroll adapted the under front, but I just don't see Kiffin along with his coaches (namely Marinelli) not being able to adapt. So hopefully the Cowboys have a thorough evaluation of their defensive personnel and start investing in the defense. The biggest need on the team is a 3 tech and the second biggest need is free safety. I guess I will just hope their board aligns with a need come draft day and Dallas sees some improvement.

I was definitely pretty pissed at their failure to add any D lineman through the draft or even add a UDFA. And while I agree with you that we need interior D lineman, I would not be opposed to drafting a FS like Pryor or Clinton Dix in the first round as you can find tons of quality DTs in the middle of the draft.

Also, I thought Holloman played well enough at the SAM last year.

Yea, if that were do happen I wouldn't be mad as well. I would assume Clinton Dix is pretty high on most teams boards and if he were to fall to 16/17, BPA would dictate they pick him.

Edit: Also, Holloman has been diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Do you feel like he is a long term answer? I guess next year it would Durant/Wilber and Holloman backing both Wilber and Lee? Man...LB depth is also a concern.

Packers LB Mike Neal's agent thinks the Eagles might be a good spot for him:

“I would think that they would [have interest],” said Barnes. “Philly would be a good spot for him, but we still have a little while to go before free agency.”

Wonder what he would cost?

Actually I think it's sort of the opposite. From a lot of what people are talking about CD is not going to do well on a BPA board, but because of the safety need in the league AND the total lack of any talent behind him, he could be a need pick for about 20 teams. On a straight BPA draft I bet he'd fall into the second round.
