That game tonight

Things to keep in mind:

-Charles Johnson didn't play at all, Greg Hardy left halfway through the second quarter, Luke Kuechly left after three drives, OLB Chase Blackburn didn't play at all (his understudy AJ Klein was directly responsible for the Vereen touchdown)

-Neither of the starters on the right side of the offensive line played.

-It is just preseason

All that being said... the Panthers were awful.

On offense, Cam was actually pretty good when he got a chance to throw it. More often he was planted in the ground or shuffling for his life because his offensive line let him down. Byron Bell, who we thought was turning the corner after switching tackle slots, was the biggest disappointment. He could do nothing with Chandler Jones. The running game again couldn't get off the ground (no pun intended). DeAngelo Williams has gone from being a very good back to painfully mediocre. Kelvin Benjamin looked great as always, but none of the other first team receivers or tight ends were able to make too big of an impact.

On defense, the secondary was piss poor as we expected them to be, but the lack of CJ really showed in how ineffective the pass rush was. I could find someone open with the time they were giving TB. The linebackers as a whole were solid (Thomas Davis was flying), but as I said Klein was directly responsible for that touchdown. Worth noting that the defense started getting gashed after Kuechly left.

All in all, it's way too early for panic and warning bells, but the coaches were talking about this game being a measuring stick for the team going into the season. If that's the case, they fell woefully short tonight.

Bears 2nd string stops Seattle 1st string from scoring a TD, something the 1st string couldn't do. This is preseason folks!

Revis looks so damn good. Chandler Jones is going to be the beneficiary of a much improved secondary. Like the progression of the pats defense so far. One issue is that so far the pressure is coming from only Jones and ninko. That's definitely one thing to watch when the season starts. Big Vince looks ready to go. Worried that because of his size he might not have been able to recover from the injury, but he looks as awesome as ever. Can't wait to see the pats defense when the games count.

Don't judge the team to harshly in preseason. Pats defense one year looked amazing and then finished almost dead last by the end of the season.Although, that wr situation does not look good.

That's the thing everyone keeps pointing to the wide receivers. The wide outs were fine.

At this point, I'm much more concerned with if Cam will be be able to get a throw off than if it will be caught or not.

That o-line. *shudders*
