Portis vs Bailey

Who got the best of the trade?

Hang out with Steve.
I'll be at all of the Redskins home games this season! Gibbs is back and I finally got season tickets! WOO HOO!! :-D

Yeah, the broncos are screwed without Portis. Look at Griffin! He's not even running into his blockers like Portis. What an ametuer :p

This message was brought to you by Archaix and his never-ending quest to be proven right over all the NFL analysts who think Portis will be just as good as he was in Denver.

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.
Griffin looking good,go Houston boy!

The new pass interference rules are anal. I give it only a few games until every team in the league is complaining if they're rigorously enforced.

Whoa, did I just hear Al Michaels say that Jon Jansen is out for the season?

... there goes the playoffs! Snyder will fire Gibbs before the season is over!

And a new Underarmour commercial too! I should keep a running count as to how many times I see it in the next 5 months.

Nice last minute field goal! Skins win, 20-17.

GOTTT 'EMMMMMMMMM!

It's going to be a terrible year for Denver.

AND A GREAT YEAR FOR THE REDSKINS!

GODDAMIT.

That's it. Jansen is out for the year. Un-fucking-believable. What a damn shame. He's the anchor of that entire unit, has never missed a game and is a class act all around. Portis is fucked.

Dag nabbit! Now there's an excuse for Portis. It's all a conspiracy against me!

This is seriously a huge blow to Washington's offense. I'm really not sure how the line will hold this year. They made some great strides this year, but - wow! - this injury may have cost them 2 or 3 games and probably a playoff spot.

Aw crap... I missed parts of the game. Is Jansen seriously going to be out for the entire season, or is that just speculation?

EDIT: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1856049
Well there goes the most reliable player on our offense. I figured it wouldn't be a big deal since it's the HOF game and there's plenty of time before the season starts... didn't know it was his Achilles.

Griffin is awesome. And he's from Houston. And he's short! [well...5'7"]

MNF Pats vs. Colts 1st week is gonna pwn. Great way to start off the season.

Bah, the o-line has sucked for years with him on the field. I don't give Jansen a ton of credit, put someone else in there and don't be so pessimistic.

I do! :D

All Ravens games + Whatever the best matchup is during the other set of games. Then I'll tune in to the national game, which makes for 3 games each sunday :)

"Looks like I'm gonna have to wait a year to get another one of these..."

On the bright side, it was great to see Gibbs back on the sidelines with the "R" on his cap. Whatever happens, it'll be fun watching the Skins this year.

The rule is not new. The refs are simply enforcing PI now. They've let DB's get away with too much, which started with SB36. Martz complained about belichicks scheme, but the league ignored him. But when the colts FO and dungy complained after last years AFC championship game, the league decided to make it a priority this season.

It's good imo. It keeps inferior db's from neutralizing a strong passing attack. This can only benefit the rams, and it will do a lot of damage to press, m2m teams like the pats...

Teams will exploit the Hell out of this new PI "enforcement." Madden & Michaels were already pointing out how receivers were getting "gimme" plays by running six yards or so and quickly turning for a pass... Right after five yards when defenders must abruptly stop making contact. DB's don't know what to do right after five yards, they have to get away from the guy for fear of a PI call all of a sudden.

Only shitty db's will let recievers run "money routes." I'm not saying the new enforcement doesn't hurt top tier CB's. but it effects them much less than your average corner who only knows how to pull, tug, and assault recievers instead of covering them. (like those in belichicks system)

These are the rules, and teams exploited them over the past few years. So I don't wanna hear any whining now that they're being strictly enforced.

Perhaps you should watch this game I call football. Washington's offensive line has been far from bad until the Spurrier era, which had nothing to do with the talent on the line, but Spurrier's formation. Even Jansen started saying Spurrier was a hack once he called it quits and that guy almost never trash talks.

Somehow I think the vast majority of NFL fans don't truly grasp how horrible a coach Spurrier really was. It's a shame, really.

In similar situations, most coaches say "Well, hopefully other players will step up & fill the gap", and Gibbs did say something to that effect. However, Gibbs has always had the ability to inspire folks to do just that. I'm not writing off the season just yet :)

It's not like a PI will come out of somebody's ass. They have to make contact and they had that luxury for the past few years. It's not great defense, just pushing people around. Great defenses shouldn't feel the heat much.

The problem is the team doesn't have the talent to fill Jansen's void and that's huge because not a lot of people know this, but Brunell is a lefty and needs Jansen there to protect him. It's a bad situation, especially if Brunell is the starter.
