Wes is too busy partying on swan floats in pools and rolling up dollar bills in bathrooms to post here.

zychii bears fan card revoked

Honestly, Bears fans post so infrequently these days I can't keep track.

It used to be Vio-lence, Bob, ari, cuevas, and EBA always posting but it's like they all died or something (even if Cuevas sobered up enough to post in here for half a second).

Here's my half ass attempt at the 2014 Raiders.

2013 sucked and it sucked hard mainly because of some knucklehead QB named Pryor and absolutely no depth on the roster. Raiders went into FA with the most cap space and who knows if anything will pan out. But fuck it, there's always bourbon to make things better.

Offense:
QB: Matt Schoob, Matt McGloin, Derek Carr
Its officially Schooob's job to lose and he will probably eventually lose it somehow. Carr is going into camp as #2 but in actuality he's #3 (They're giving him more reps because they know what they have with McGloin). If the Raiders can get a smash mouth offense going on, Schoob should be okay. Must be awkward for Carr to be playing behind the guy that replaced his brother.

RB: Darren McFadden, Maurice Jones-Drew, Latavous Murray, Jeremy Stewart
It's going to be a RB by committee, hopefully that will allow McFadden and Jones-Drew to remain fresh and able to finish the season. Latavous Murray is an intriguing player who's been called a poor man's McFadden (6th Round pick and injuries). Stewart is just hanging on and knows the system. He'll either be replaced by an UDFA or stay on as an emergency back. Marcel Reece will continue to take reps at RB as needed. If McFadden and Jones-Drew can return to form they should be as formidable as the 2011 Raiders when they lead the league in rushing with McFadden and Michael Bush.

FB: Marcel Reece, Jamize Olawale
Reece is the best FB in the NFL hands down :)kas), he's a swiss army knife in that he can do everything you want him to do. He's not the greatest at any single aspect, but he does a damn good job. Olawale is on the bubble if they choose only keep 1 FB and use a TE as a lead blocker instead, Olawale is your prototypical bulldozing type of FB that can catch out of the backfield if needed.

WR: James Jones, Rod Streater, Denarius Moore, Andre Holmes, Brice Butler, Greg Little
Again, the Raiders will have no stand out #1. Rod Streater is their best WR that could've broken 1,000 yards last season if it weren't for that knucklehead Pryor. James Jones brings veteran leadership that was severly lacking in the WR corps. I fully expect Denarius Moore to be moved as he has regressed since his rookie season. Andre Holmes came together at the end of the season after being suspended for PEDs. Brice Butler and Greg Little, well Butler is a practice star and Greg Little is an ex-Brown. Raiders already dealt with Greg Little's higher paid counterpart, DHB. Both can't catch or run routes but were tough mother fuckers to bring down.

TE: David Ausberry, Mychal Rivera, Nick Kasa
Raiders have an intriguing prospect in Mychal Rivera (HIs sister is hot), a receiving TE but not much of a blocker. David Ausberry is a converted WR to TE that was on IR last season. He's a tweener as he's too big for WR and too small for TE. He also can't block worth shit either. Kasa is a pass blocking TE that didn't show much in his rookie season. Look for the Raiders to pick up a TE in FA after final cuts.

OL: Donald Penn, Kevin Boothe, Stefen Wisnewski, Austin Howard, Gabe Jackson, Menelik Watson, Matt McCants, Khalif Barnes
Currently it looks to be: Penn, Jackson, Wisnewski, Howard, Watson as your starting O-line. The only returning starter is Wisnewski (Quite a fine center as well) and on paper the Raiders should be significantly upgraded at OL other than their Veldheer snafu. Raiders' brass obviously viewed Veldheer as a RT rather than LT. Howard was signed to be a mauling RG, if Watson can be healthy he can be quite a RT, athletic and still learning football. Penn is on the down but should be able to hold down the blindside while Watson develops or the Raiders find a long term LT. Barnes is a utility lineman that can play G or T. McCants is a swing tackle and Boothe will provide depth at C and G. Gabe Jackson has only given 2 sacks in his NCAA career and is one giant of a man. The Raiders are attempting to build a bullying offensive line and everyone has been on the Stafford/Freeman diet, everyone but Wisnewski is over 300lbs. They want to beat up whoever is in front of them and hopefully they can create lanes for the RBs or a pocket for the QB. Tony Sparano is a well regarded offensive line coach that should get these guys to gel together.

Defense:

post-40222-Natalie-Dormer-biting-apple-gi-TkvM.gif

The Raiders run an aggressive multi-front blitz heavy defense. It was overachieving at the begining of last season but wore down as the season went on (lack of depth)

DL: Lamar Woodley, Justin Tuck, Jack Crawford, Pat Sims, Stacy McGee, Alfonso Smith, Justin Ellis
The only returning starter is Pat Sims, the D line has been completely revamped with veterans. That should be able to provide a better pass rush than the pathetic rush the Raiders had last season. Tuck came on at the end of last season with double digit sacks. Woodley is old and might still have some fuel in the tank, Alfonso Smith will be the utility lineman depending on pass or run situations. Crawford and McGee are situational players with relentless motors, they can use to learn from these veterans that were aquired in FA. Ellis is a big boy that will be counted upon to stuff the run with Pat Sims.

LB: Nick Roach, Miles Burris, Khalil Mack, Sio Moore, Kaluka Maiva, Kaelin Burnett
This is the only part of the Raiders where they have depth at. Burris, Roach, and Mack are pencilled in as starters at the moment. More than likely the starting LBs will be Moore (WLB), Roach (MLB), and Mack (SLB). Mack is their most intriguging prospect with :kas like comparisons to Lawerence Taylor, he's a relentless player that some had as the top rated prospect in NCAA (Above Clowney :kas), good work ethic and play is stout. His OSU take shows what he can do against top NCAA players. With that, Sio Moore slides from the strongside (What he played all his football career) to weakside, it's a transition for him but his athleticism will carry him. He's built in the same manner as Mack. Roach is an undersized athletic MLB that can cover sideline to sideline. Burris plays all 3 LB positions. Look for Burnett and Maiva to be ST and dept players.

CB: DJ Hayden, Tarell Brown, Carlos Rodgers, Chimdi Chekwa, Taiwan Jones, TJ Carrie, Keith McGill
This group is relying on whether or not Hayden can be healthy or not. Hayden didn't show much when he was playing last year, currently he has a stress fracture from offseason workouts, he looks to have put on some muscle to help in the run support. Hopefully he can be healthy and become a premier corner, he's hard not to root for especially coming from surviving a life threatening injury in practice. Tarell Brown and Carlos Rogers cross the Bay and join the Raiders. Brown will play opposite of Hayden and Rogers will cover the slot. Brown has been referred to as Turdell Brown but has come on and was one of the better Niners DBs last season. Rogers is on decline of his career and hopefully can still cover the slot. TJ Carrie has been a pleasant surprise in OTAs and McGill is the new type of CB that the NFL is seeking for big and lanky like that fraud Dick Sherman. Chekwa is an on and off type player while Taiwan Jones is a special teams standout (If you can play ST, you'll make an NFL roster). Look for Chance Casey to make the roster if the Raiders decide to PS Carrie, McGill or cut Chekwa.

Safety: Charles Woodson, Tyvon Branch, Usama Young, Brandian Ross, Jonathan Dowling.
Charles Woodson will man FS while midget Tyvon Branch will man SS. They form a formidable duo at safety. Branch is a tackling machine while Woodson is a future HOFer. Young provides depth at either spots while Ross, I hope he never see the field again, or at least at FS again. Jonathan Dowling is a 7th rounder that could make the squad over Ross. To go :kas again, Woodson has similar stats to top FA safety signed by the Donkeys, TJ Ward.

ST:
Seabass, King, and Condo.
Seabass needs to get on his beer diet to return to form. King has a massive leg that he needs to get in control of, plus he runs fast and doesn't wiff at tackles. Condo proved why you need a good LS.

The 2014 Raiders could make for a 6-8 win season. They travel the most and have the toughest schedule but their roster is upgraded at all positions. This is a make or break season for HC Dennis Allen, he could be replaced next season. Mark Davis' patience has been tested by Reggie McKenzie who could also be on the bubble depending on the outcome of this season. Davis has reiterated that Reggie is his man and will allow him to finish his contract, Allen on the other hand is not a Davis choice. The Raiders are trying to build a smash mouth football team with big men at offensive line creating lanes/pockets and an aggressive attacking defense. They face a stiff division (3 playoff teams) but maybe just maybe they can put together a formidable season. As the autumn wind blows; fuck the Pats.
