So I've been trying to not read stories about the Kam holdout... but what?

Report: Seahawks' Chancellor willing to miss entire season - Michael Robinson

Kam? KAM...

KAMMMMMM HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO WEAR YOUR FUCKING JERSEY WHEN YOU DO NOT PLAY DAMMIT

I'm saying an average NeoGAF member is the type of person that would live in NYC and root for the Lakers and Pats. I mean we got Gata in Florida! Old man Bionic in wherever the fuck he is. None of the GB guys in GB.

(Even though it's not going to happen)

Kam, if you want to sit out the season, you have my full support.

Oh that would make me so, so happy.

The gif's the most ridiculous thing I've seen all preseason, even above Tebow Fans and Packers fans saying everything's fine amidst their team being in the hospital

Yeah it's nuts.

How many Packers players are down? I only heard of Jordy

Never realized that. Is there one GB fan who even lives in Wisconsin?

Greedy Seahawks players demanding more money. Soon they'll reach the cap and can't restructure some anymore.

:p

I at least live around Houston.

Ballers season final was ok, everything kinda came together nicely which is weird. Anyways loved seeing more dolphin stuff, even the hilariously poorly dressed cheerleaders.

5th string wr tries to make play on 3rd and 17 in preseason game, loses 20 yards. Season over

Who then later blocked a punt for a TD.

Patton's been on the team for what, 3 years now, and hasn't done much. He's not going to supplant Bruce Ellington when Ellington is healthy.

I think Simpson will make the roster over him, with Patton only getting a spot due to Simpson's suspension.

Yea I know there's like a 99.9% this won't happen but man don't fuck with me!

I'm a 49ers fan, I'd welcome it with open arms.

Speaking of safeties, isn't Eric Berry a FA next season? Can the Chiefs afford to tag him or can the Raiders swoop him up like we did with Hudson.

I don't care about the NFL and have never really understood it; but even I'm kinda getting on the HaynePlane bandwagon. He was a great player in the NRL , but not *the best*. It's really interesting to see a rugby league player go over and start so well. Obviously it's just pre-season, so who knows what will happen when the real thing starts, but it's promising.

Doesn't he only have to show up starting week 10? I remember a similar situation happened to the Pats with Mankins a while back. That's what he did.

That's just to not lose a year towards FA. I dunno if that helps Kam all that much since he would still have 2 years left on his deal. He really doesn't have, like, any leverage to ask for a new deal.

Sitting out of the games is his only option, and it can be effective if Seattles defense dips significantly. He might be worried about potential injuries since he had a pretty big injury last season right before the super bowl. Puts pressure on Seattle to work out a deal, gets a year done on his contract, and less chance of an injury since he's playing less games. Seattle might just have to deal with not having Kam for 9-10 weeks. Pats did that with Mankins. It hurt the team since the oline wasn't as good, but they survived anyways.
No idea. I'm not really well-versed in these things.

Mankins missed most of the 2010 season for the Pats by holding out. He didn't come back until the last week in October a few days before November. That's most likely what Kam is going to do from the sounds of it. That is if you believe the reports. His only real option to get a contract extension. He could then do the same next year as well which would be a real concern for Seattle.

Why were most of the defense asking for restructuring anyways? I mean... it just sounds like that was the only thing coming from Seattle in the offseason after Russell's new deal.

I just don't know what he's expecting. After extending Russell and Bobby Wagner we just don't have the space to do anything significant.

"Most" of the defense weren't. Bobby Wagner was at the time where guys normally get extensions off their rookie contracts, so he was naturally up for a new contract. Bennett and Kam just want more money, even though they have multiple years left on their deal. That's all I can remember. Bruce Irvin wants an extension but he's essentially playing his FA audition year this season. I highly doubt he comes back.

Forgive me if this is wrong, but I believe I read this in the last few days that the dead money for Percy Harvin is off the books next season. Looks like the earliest the Seahawks could do a deal would be next season. Has there been any talk that maybe last season they told Kam that they would take care of him so he played through the injury and now the Seahawks aren't extending him? That would be the only thing that makes sense to me, but that seems pretty far fetched. Probably just a simple case of a guy who wants to be paid like the elite guy he is. Sucks for the Seahawks since their in a tight spot, but shouldn't be the end of the world. The defense should still be good, and I don't see a reason that they won't continue to win without him.

I haven't heard anything about that. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened, just that it hasn't gotten out.

I'm thinking (hoping) that he's just going to hold out for the rest of camp since he could use the recovery time anyway. He still sends a message and places himself as the top priority for new money next season.

We have around 7 million in dead cap from Harvin this year. I still think Graham is getting traded next offseason unless he puts up monster stats. The nice thing next offseason is we don't have anyone hugely important to resign. Okung is meh and the Jets are gonna overpay for him, and Irvin's already said he's going to Atlanta and doesn't want to stay since we won't give him the extra year.

Bowe spent the offseason talking about getting his career back on an upward trajectory after a couple of middling seasons with the Chiefs before moving on to give rave reviews to quarterback Josh McCown, who he said can be a top-five quarterback in the league this season.

“I’m very, very confident,” Bowe said, via Cleveland.com. “We have a talented core, our group. When Week 1 comes around, we’re going to show a lot of doubters how a high-powered offense really moves.”

BOB keeps interjecting "All 3 QB's" when asked about the starter.

Do it BOB! Start Savage.
never gonna happen.

Those feels. As a father with a special needs child it kind of hits home.
I thought you said you didn't have kids?

No, its down to I have the utmost faith in O'Brien as a coach and motivator. This team will be 100% prepared week in and week out no matter who is at QB with an offensive gameplan that will fit with the strengths and weaknesses of whoever is at QB.

They finished 9-7 last year playing 4 different QB's but they didn't lose one game where they were never in it. The defense this year will almost certainly be a top 3 unit in the league.
Yes and no. Yes because of how they changed the offense to fit Case last season. No because the abysmal QB play Saturday night by Hoyer and Mallet was the game plan. I didn't get to watch a lot of the game because my stupid DVR crashed a couple of times, but from what I've read from people who watched the game film, there was one deep route all night for the two QBs to throw to. That's game plan, not QB play.

Probably a bit premature, but I wonder if Jarryd Hayne's success as a returner could lead to more NFL teams signing Rugby players as return specialists.
