What? Are there movies more beloved on GAF than the Nolan schlock and Avatar? The most popular movies of the day.
No director had tried yet to put him in his entrenchement.
Really? TDKR dragged on soooooo damn bad. Avengers was just a more entertaining movie that didnt try to hide what it was. One of the best damn summer action popcorn movies ever. Just so many memorable scenes:

Well if Squicken is on the 49ers bandwagon then it's all but confirmed that they are going to crash and burn this season. The only thing that might save them is that babby's first NFL season of a schedule.
well at least you're right about prestige being awesome, other than that plain wrong mister. there wont be another batman trilogy that tops nolans. if it does holy fuck i dont think my body could handle the awesome, i'll welcome any challengers though

Eh, I'm going to do the unpopular thing and say that I liked both the Avengers and TDKR. (BUT THIS IS THE INTERNET, YOU HAVE TO PICK ONE AND DEFEND TO THE DEATH, BRO!)
I think Whedon did a good job creating the perfect summer popcorn flick. Just shut the mind down for the two hours and take in the pretty colors, loud noises, and random one-liners.
And as for Rises, it was a huge movie. Ambitious, a bit overly ambitious, in its scope, it was no where near as tightly done as Nolan's other movies. In fact it was a bit of a mess at times. If you went in expecting TDKR to be the greatest work of art in modern cinema history, of course you would be disappointed. But I liked it for what it was, a solid ending to a good movie trilogy.

The real life audio/visual club, maybe.
I like DiCaprio. He was great in This Boys Life, which came out prior to Gilbert's Grape. It's my favorite movie of his. The tension between him and De Niro in that film was great.
I'm not trying to change your mind, but his stuff as a kid was pretty good.

I just think his range sucks. Unless he's playing a boyish charmer or a punk (aka, most of his earlier roles) cannot buy him at all. A grizzled, frayed cop in the Departed? A badass jewel smuggler in Blood Diamond? Ahhahaahaha, no. Even in Inception he was hard to swallow.

I didn't see Blood Diamond, but I can see what you are getting at. He definitely excels at parts where he is more charismatic rather than powerful. If that makes sense. Catch Me If You Can is a good example, so is Gangs of New York. It's part of the reason why I'm excited to see Django Unchained. In short I would agree that certain roles don't fit him well.
I remember seeing that in the 90s and thinking he really was retarded/autistic until I saw him in some other movie. I was only like 10 when the movie came out, probably saw it a few years after that since I saw it on HBO.
Regardless, blew my mind that it was him.
