It was against the league's rules before the warning, the example should have been made at that particular time. It's not like the league hasn't singled us out before. Goodell amending the wording of the player conduct rules so he can suspend Roethlisberger despite the fact that he was never charged with a crime. The league fining James Harrison for hits, and subsequently changing the rules mid season after legal hits by Harrison and Hines Ward. And now this.

Are you STILL bitching about this? It was a huge hit and he got the wind knocked out of him, there was never any indication that he had a head injury and the Giants never reported it as such. I've played football, and I've had the wind knocked out of me under a number of occasions. You don't lay on the floor lifeless when you have the wind knocked out of you, you squirm on the floor struggling to breath, it's a necessary bodily reaction. It was an act. Cruz got up easily and jogged off to the sideline pain free.
That said, he did it in an attempt to get an advantage and succeeded. Can't blame him for trying, especially when it works.

I've had the wind knocked out of me as well and while I definitely writhed on one occasion (hockey I think) I also tried to stay as still as possible on one occasion and figure out why they fuck it felt like my throat had been crushed (that one was football). People are different, have different pain tolerances, and react differently to injuries. The fact that it happened to you doesn't make it the only way an individual could possibly ever react.

Flags are also picked up, unless the refs initial assumptions are reinforced by someone lying on the ground like they've just received trauma to the head.

I'm sorry, but I think it's really fucking stupid to bother complaining about these individual incidents like this. All 32 teams pander to refs for calls and all 32 have succeeded at some point or another. It happens. It's not a conspiracy against your team.

It's a natural reaction for the body to go into anxiety at the seemingly sudden loss of breathing capabilities, as is attempting to position your body in ways to reignite normalized breathing.
I'm not even sure how you defend Cruz in this case outside of the fact that you're blinded by an agenda. I mean, it's not the end of the world to admit he was putting on a spectacle for the betterment of his team like DeaconKnowledge suggested. Similar to Sander's fake injury, I'll stomach his bullshit actions since it helped our team, but I'm not going to sit here and second guess the fact that he was bullshitting the league after it has happened.
Guy was hurt and sat out the next play, not sure why this is an issue? If he was faking, he was properly punished.
As far as head/neck trauma, I don't pretend to be a medical expert so I don't pretend that a 200 lb man running into another 200lb man and coming to a sudden stop has zero possibility of causing some level of head trauma.
I mean it's just two 200+ dudes in peak physical condition colliding at 20-ish mph. Obviously no one could get their bell rung.

I posted this a few pages back, but there was guy from a Vegas book on ESPN's betting podcast, and since the real refs have been back, the favorites and public teams are covering at a crazy rate. He thinks it's due to a star system like the NBA had with Jordan as far as shitty officiating. Steelers fans just discovered their place on the hierarchy

Nah, in this case it's the League offices fault for over-emphasis of certain calls like defenseless receiver. I don't think it had anything to do with star fueled favoritism.

The fact that the Steelers won that game in spite of the Giants getting 14 free points makes the Steelers seem a lot scarier than they were a few weeks ago when they looked like shit. They tend to peak at the right time.

I don't think many people are comparing the Colts to playoff bound teams or saying they're a great team. Luck does not deserve to be smelling a whiff of an MVP fart.
Luck's gonna be awesome--we've already tripled wins from last year--but the team is not good.

I think that's bullshit frankly. The NFL does have a star system but it overwhelmingly favors the offense over defense, not star players.
When the real refs came back they were content to let the guys play, but it's slowly regressed back to normal (normal being favoring the offense of course).
And they handed you a Super Bowl against the Seahwaks. Fair trade.
They're gonna unleash hell in December!

I don't care that the Steelers were fined, Sanders and the team deserved it for the bullshit that they pulled. I'm just saying that faking injuries have been illegal for a while now, and the league should have made an example of the team that prompted them to issue a warning in the first place.
I wasn't the only one complaining about the bad calls, but like always, my posts are handpicked out of a flood of like minded posts and put on a pedestal for sentiments held by dozens of other posters. It's not like I was misguided in my disgust, considering Sports media wasn't exactly mute in its coverage of the calls.
I don't understand the notion that one shouldn't be outraged in bad calls that didn't cost a team the game. A bad call is a bad call, and I'm going to call it as such regardless of the outcome of the game.
And I'm opinionated, vocal and loud. I type out everything that I think, and leave very little to the delete key. Get over it.
