7 sets of predictions so far, with 4 picking the Buccaneers to beat the Falcons versus 3 picking the Falcons to win. Come on peeps! Bucs are very overrated IMO.

There's no better omen of losing than being #1 in the power rankings.

subtle.

i doubt mike singletary can help out his old team on sunday, but it would be nice. packers probably will spank the 9ers tho.

hope lovie smith shows the team the calvin johnson touchdown from week 1 like 100 times before the game so they know to take it seriously.

Looking at how they performed this year it seems they are playing their best football now, they got blown out early in the year by PIT and then again by the Saints and since have beaten the entire NFC West.....:lol

I couldn't keep a straight face typing that. Really though, their last two losses have come to both the Falcons and Ravens, on the road and by one score in each of those games. They haven't been able to get that big quality win yet but who knows might come this week. If it does their remaining schedule favors them heavenly, see them winning all but their final game to the Saints.

It is a tough road for them to the playoffs though based on how close in record the NFC Wild Cards are going to most likely be, they already lost to the Saints once, they would have to beat them in the final game of the season, hope the Saints drop at least one game (they play the Falcons and Ravens still), win out and then hope that someone in the NFC East stumbles.

Yeah after thinking this out I don't think they have much of a shot. :lol

The prevent D needs to be taken out back and shot multiple times.

Also, major props to Buckethead for the thread and managing to get the OP not to stretch out the thread on my 24" 1900x1200 monitor. Rors manages to somehow achieve that every week.

Rex Ryan is just the gift that keeps on giving.

The Jets coach famously (or infamously) said during his introductory press conference as the team's head coach last year that he wasn't here "to kiss Bill Belichick's rings," though he has always been complimentary of the Patriots' coach and his accomplishments.

But he always speaks his mind, and yesterday when he was asked about his rings comment by Newsday's Bob Glauber, Ryan had another, ahem, colorful quote.

"I just told the truth. I came here to win. As much as I respect and admire Bill Belichick, I came here to kick his ass, and that's the truth. That's just the way it is," Ryan said.

Get 'em Rex, sic 'em. (And maybe motivate the other guy?) The honesty is refreshing, better than "I have the upmost respect for the experience and knowledge of my opponent".

Texans/Eagles fans, what are your predictions for the game on Thursday?

Of course I need a Texans win, but what are the chances that happens?

I see the following issues:

1) Weak Texans LB corps after losing Ryans for the season trying to chase down Vick and McCoy.
2) One of if not the worst secondaries in the league against Mac and Jack.
3) Lack of solid DT play from the Texans - it is imperative to collapse the pocket against Vick, especially with Mario potentially playing the 'Julius Peppers role' from this past Sunday.
4) Philly is home
5) The inherent advantage of a warm weather team having to travel to a northeastern stadium in December.
6) One day of practice for the Texans

Unless the offense plays all world, the Texans are going to get stomped. I expect Houston to be able to run the ball well at the very least. Also, AJ versus Dmitri Patterson is an extremely favorable mismatch.

LET'S GO TEXANS. #kubiakbelievesinyou

We were #1 in ESPN's last week. I think we were also #1 in CBS's too but I could be wrong.

And they are number one in my heart. I have to recant my earlier heresy of speaking against Ryan and the Falcons and the coaches when they lost to the Steelers and the Eagles. My heart was not true but I have seen the light! Amen.

Also, if any of the contending NFC teams were shifted to the NFC West, they could almost begin resting their starters. :lol

Speaking as someone who has only passively followed the Texans this season I am convinced that they have the worst defense in the history of sports.

The Eagles secondary with whats his face was above average but without him they are terribad.

Expect a shoot out and very very bad tackling.

I will forgive you and tmdorsey just this once! :D

Most of the backup squads of the contending teams could still win that division.

1) the LB core is fine, Cushing is back, Bentley is playing the middle well
2) yep
3) yep
4) surprising the Texans are better on the road, Schaub is statistically better in like every category on the road for some stupid ass reason
5) you would think so but the Texans have fared very well in cold weather, see on the road against the packers couple of years ago.

It could go either way, just depends on which offense decides to show up. Some in the media here were saying the Texans didn't have a chance against the Jets and didnt belong on the same field. They are saying similar things about this game.

I don't expect them to win unless they play for 60 minutes on offense and defense, something they've only done once this year and that was last week against a Titans team that has quit.

Speaking as someone who has only passively followed the Texans this season I am convinced that they have the worst defense in the history of sports.
Good thing you only watch them in passing as they aren't last in any category defensively.

not saying they're the worst, but you don't have to be last in any category to be worst overall.

That is, until I decided to get my money's worth with ass whoopings. Take note NFL...

um yes? did you even read what i said? You said "but you don't have to be last in any category to be worst overall." when in fact they aren't worst overall. I mean really.

you're kind of splitting hairs here, the texans defense sucks, whether its the worst or 2nd worst it doesn't matter.
No im not, equus said they are the worst defense ever in any sport, when in fact they aren't even the worst defense this year in the NFL.

you said that they're not worst overall because they're not worst in any category, and I said that you don't have to be worst in any category to be worst overall. I even started with "not saying they're worst..."

Do we have to start with an apology when attempting to comment on the Texans with you?

One thing I forgot to mention about the Falcons/Packers game was how impressed I was with Tyson Clabo's ability to neutralize Clay Matthews.

The offensive line as a whole has just been terrific. Even guys like Baker and Blalock are cutting down on the penalties and performing well in run blocking.

The run game has also been helped by Jenkins return. I'll keep saying it, when he came back the offense started to play better each and every week. Douglas even showed up some against the Packers. If he can get going, we'll be very tough to stop.

why don't you find another blog saying worst pass defense ever and then post it here claiming it says worst defense ever.

Yes that would be super.
Or you know people could get their facts straight before posting shit.

some of you guys are so easy. All i said was that they werent the worst ever, which is factually correct as they aren't even the worst this season.

I didn't get any facts wrong, you seemed to jump the gun... no big deal, apology accepted.

Texans is cold is different than Texans in a windy game. Schaub's arm has never really been tested in a windy road game. I can't see them winning, but I do expect them to keep it close and do something stupid at the end to seal the loss.

It's funny to see that all these years later, Lions fans still overwhelmingly wear #20. Was laughing with my Dad about that during Thanksgiving.
