NFL Week 13 |OT| My Favorite Things

Joe Flacco on his 4th and 29 checkdown play:

Sorry to break it to you Joe, but you still looked like a big-time idiot even though the Ravens got that play.
Yeah, it's kind of dumb to pretend like you somehow saw that decision working out. It was more like he just panicked and got lucky in the end. It was very stupid regardless of the outcome.

:lol

I love the fantasy world Flacco lives in where he is the best qb in the NFL, Ray Rice lives off his coattails, check downs are heroic, and unibrows and porn mustaches are in style!

Poor Kyle. He knows that if Harbaugh will bench Alex for a concussion, he'll get sent the glue factory for a knee injury

Tyrann Mathieu is apparently entering the draft. Late 1st rounder?
Guy's a beast playing the Woodson role (2009-2011) where he'd line up in the slot and wreck havok, but he could be had in coverage due to his size. Plus he's a year out of football shape.

He's got Raiders written all over him.

Or Bengals!

Maybe the Lions....he'll probably end his career with the Patriots for a season making the league minimum.

Thanks for the advice. I'm looking forward to going even though I may freeze out there. It'll be my first Browns game.

I wish you were going to a better game. I mean, we should win but the crowd wont be all that into it I dont think. Gotta come to a home opener. Theres the annual optimism in the air, the weather is warm, the girlies are all dressed nicely....good times.

Adderall at the very least is probably being used as a mood enhancer on game day.

I've taken it before and it gives me a TON of energy. Not in any way comparable to an energy drink or something, way more intense. I'd say it would give me an advantage if I were playing a sport vs someone who wasnt using it.

110 MLB players have gotten permission to use it from the commissioner, not even counting the players like Ruiz that are using it without permission. It seems like this is becoming a big thing in sports now.

what's weird to me is that they let them take it at all. it's not like the league has double amputees playing the game. pro sports are a 1% of the 1% of human achievement in a particular skill. not being able to concentrate is a failing, the same as slow bat speed or slow 40 time. sucks that they have adhd but then it sucks I wasn't born with the capacity to put giant slabs of muscle on my thighs and arms

I hear ya. My only problem is realistically unless they're playing one of my friend's teams who in their right mind would come to Cleveland with me to watch a Browns game?

If they wanted to watch sadness we could take a shorter commute to Buffalo and watch the Bills.

But in actual good Browns news. I am really impressed with Mitchell Schwartz. The right side of our line was horrendous last year and he has done a lot to shore it up. As people have noticed our pass blocking is phenomenal and Schwartz is definitely a big reason for that.

sounds like an advantage is an advantage then. Ban these fucking clowns please.

the fact that many of these bitches that got caught doing it isn't owning up to it, and is saying that they accidently drunk it (sherman). sounds like bullshit when we all know what it does for you.

Go fuck yourselves and stop tainting the sport even more with this cheating shit, bad enough that roids and hgh is out there. jesus.

Late 1st? The guy couldn't play college FB this year cause he couldn't stay away from the sticky icky, than entered rehab, than was arrested AGAIN cause he just can't give up the green.

I'll be surprised if he goes before the 3rd round. That's his ceiling IMO.

Not a chance! At this point I think he'll be lucky to be a late rounder. I think he goes undfa..............some team will probably take a chance on him in the 3rd or 4th though if he interviews well

Honey Badger will go undrafted or be in one of the last 2 rounds.

No way a team risks a high pick on him.

Giants practice report:

C David Baas (Shoulder) - Will not practice today
S Kenny Phillips (Knee) - Will not practice today

The hope/expectation for both is that they will practice tomorrow and moving forward.

T David Diehl (Burner) - Will not practice today - Coughlin says he's sore but getting better
LB Jacquain Williams (Knee) - Will Practice - For the first time in like 4 weeks. Be nice to get him back on the defense.
WR Dominik Hixon (Ankle) Will practice today
RB Ahmad Bradshaw (Foot) - Will practice today

Coughlin says he had a talk with David Wilson and expects the rookie to "ratchet it up" during this week of practice and come out strong on Monday Night.

Both Torain and Lumpkin will be starting on the scout team but there is a possibility that both will play on Monday.

Wilson must really crap the bed in practice if those street FAs are being considered for playing time

Good luck to you if you actually believe they will. Coughlin loves to leave things open like. "Wilson will be a bigger part of the offense". I've been hearing that for weeks while he sat on the bench.;)

Wilson is the #2 guy now and will get at most 8 carries in the game if we go by the play time Andre Brown got. Bradshaw will carry the load on Monday night as usual though. Make no mistake unless Wilson blows up and has the "hot hand" so to speak.

I give Bradshaw 2 weeks tops before aggravating his foot and missing time. Guy is one of the biggest band aids in the league.

You guys better hope Wilson can truly step up to the plate, cause he'll be starting before the end of the year.

I've believed in Wilson off and on all year and he's mostly rotted on my FF bench. I couldn't believe they'd go all year with those slow RBs but on the bench he stayed. To not play over Brown given the ball carrying gulf between the two sure seems like something was wrong

There's a sizeable block of Giants fans that have been calling for that for some time now. I'm not one of them as I prefer to give the rookie time to develop.

Having said that, we're 12 games into the season it's time to see Wilson in a bigger role. The emergence of Brown slowed that down earlier on. I'm eager to see what he brings on Monday. The offense has had more balance this year which is great and necessary but contrary to popular belief, we're not a run team first like the Niners. Our offense lives and dies with the passing game.

Really? You think? You obviously know the Giants far, far better than I, but I think the Giants are one team that completely rely on a balanced attack.

When you get one-dimensional you get worse IMO. Eli can't cut it on his own, and Nicks is a dying commodity.

I'm curious about this too. They seem like the same type of running back to me. James is supposedly even faster I thought.
He is, and slightly bigger, though not quite as strong.

Supposedly LMJ runs between the tackles better and is better in open space, he just had fumbling issues in college and is weak in pass pro technique, an issue Hunter has to.

If I had to guess, LMJ seems to be more able to be our next main back more than Hunter, who is just too small and works better as a change of pace and swing threat.

Then you misunderstood the prospect. How much pass protection did David Wilson do in college? There's a reason I wanted Doug Martin over him. Martin was pro-ready (and proving it every game with the Bucs). Tom Coughlin does not play running backs that can't pick up blitz packages/pass protect. Much less a rookie. Period. Never has, never will. (Bradshaw didn't get playing time until Derrick Ward went down with a broken leg in '07 for instance). He was not asked to do that with any real consistency coming out of VT. He was drafted for his speed and big play ability first and foremost. He was always going to develop and get limited play time off the bat.

It was more limited than usual after that first game fumble of course but that's another topic.:)

Oh and I had folks in my office FF league draft him too and I told them it would be a waste of a pick early in the season.

Have you watched the Giants in the last three seasons? Eli is the offense. It starts and stops with him. He plays poorly, we lose games no matter what the defense is doing. You're buying the narrative that the Giants are still the same team that had Tiki Barber running the football and had the '07/'08 offensive line dominating the opposition. We're not there right now.

Tom Coughlin is a big believer in balance, no doubt. He wants to get the run game going and the game plan certainly calls for it but the run game is inconsistent at best and has been for two seasons now. (thankfully it's been better this year). We won a Super Bowl with the worst rated running attack in the NFL last season. Eli can cut it just fine. I would just prefer that it wasn't always all on him. I prefer balance make no mistake.

Nicks is injured. He's playing on one foot with a busted knee in the other leg. It happens but an amusing statement considering he's been the top receiver on the team for the last two games. Dying commodity? No. Just no.

Dre wins AFC Offensive Player of the month:

http://www.houstontexans.com/news/a...he-Month/d56403cd-e817-4893-81ca-8d618de0dbb1

Johnson caught 35 passes for 614 yards (17.5 average) and a touchdown in four November games. He averaged 153.5 receiving yards per game, second in the NFL behind Calvin Johnson (154.8) and first in the AFC by a 57-yard margin over A.J. Green (96.5). Johnson set an NFL record for a two-game stretch with 461 receiving yards in the last two games.

Old and slow Dre! He has lost a step in his speed but his strength, size and route running is still top notch. Classy individual who deserves this shot. Stuck with this team when he could have left and suffered for almost 10 years.

Didn't realize LMJ is slightly bigger than Hunter...I've always thought that it would be the other way around (LMJ as the change of pace/Hunter as featured back).

Yeah I guess I really had no idea on him other than his preseason running ability. For a normally smart front office, it seems strange to spend a first round pick on a RB who doesn't play. Like the coaches and FO weren't of the same mind

One of the biggest frustrations that some Giants fans will voice to you about Tom Coughlin is that he does not play rookies immediately regardless of their draft position. Jason Pierre Paul barely played in the early part of his rookie season. He was rotated in an out but he didn't start to get meaningful play time until the end of the 2010 season. The last 6 games specifically.

Honestly, Hakeem Nicks is one of the few 1st round rookies that I can remember who came in and immediately contributed. That's how Coughlin operates. It's frustrating if you're the type of fan that wants immediate returns on your draft picks.

That's definitely a sign of a good team, though. Most fans should wish their team had that luxury, I know I do!

It's definitely a great luxury, and I'm so unfamiliar with it I really can't comprehend it. To me, watching so many bad teams, if the guys you draft don't immediately replace the guys that helped you go 2-14, then you fucked up your draft. SF and NYG have stacked rosters so I guess they can afford to develop guys like they do

Saw this in the STL paper (well website) on Kurt Warner. Rams were 40-10 with Warner, and since he was cut by Martz, 41-97-1. Cards 28-20 with Warner, 17-26 since he left. It's weird what happened to him in NY. Guy is clearly a HoF player but couldn't win the job there

Never brought in to win the job. He's the Alex Smith in the Alex Smith scenario you posited earlier (custodian for the real guy). He was there to mentor Eli until he was ready. Tiki would have told you that the Giants made a mistake in doing that and the offense should have been tailored to Warner. Actually, Tiki did say that.

Quote from Tiki: "Kurt Warner could have been great for us if we had changed our system."

The system was tailored and designed for the QB of the future (Eli). Maybe Tiki would have been proven right if the Giants did things his way but thus far it's hard to argue with the results (oh and fuck Tiki).

To Warner's credit, he was the consummate professional once he was benched for Eli. Did everything he could to help the guy.

hmm for some reason I thought he got there before Eli. I really didn't follow it but I seem to remember he had some hand issues in STL and NY that hurt his play. I know that the reason AZ never opens its roof is Warner told them to keep it shut when he played b/c it helped the passing game
