The giants will be powned.

That is all....

I doubt it. I don't think Washington has the offensive line to let the running game run wild and Brunell hasn't shown much chemistry with any of the recievers. It's going to be the battle of the defenses, and on that side, I think Washington looks better.

Final Score?

WAS 19 -- NYG 13

I dont think it'll be closer that 10 points. The Giants let frggin Westbrook run all over them. What the hell are they gonna do with CP? The O-line looked damn good last week against a great Tampa defense and can only improve.

Plus we no longer have Champ on the team to let Amani Toomer have another career game :p

Stephen Davis out 2-5 weeks? gg nm carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Panthers running back Stephen Davis will miss Sunday's game at Kansas City because of swelling in his knee that could sideline him two to five weeks.

Davis began having problems with his knee after practice Thursday, and an MRI showed ``a small cartilage problem,'' coach John Fox said Friday.

Doctors planned surgery for Friday.

Looks like all my praying worked! Panthers lose their best RB and best WR in the first week of the season!

Now if only Vick gets a 2nd Madden Curse injury, I'm set.

Dude, I put a hex on Carolina. I drafted DeShaun Foster and Keary Colbert in the late rounds of my fantasy draft... now Davis and Smith are both injured, and Foster and Colbert are starting. Sorry, Panthers fans.

Why am I being tormented like this?

God damn it.

edit: Now that I've got some time to think about this, this could be a blessing in disguise. Foster is in a contract year, and we really need to see something out of him before we award him the money he'll be looking for come season's end. Here's the chance for Foster to start for at least two, most likely three games. Now, Carolina can evaluate if Foster's worth the money and if Foster has improved his ball handling. Also, Davis finished off last season knicked and bruised, and hopefully he will have a strong late season after recovering early. In fact, that's how I believe Carolina's season will be: Poor first half, strong late season showing. Remember, last year, New England lost to powerhouse team Buffalo 31-0 and started the first quarter of the season 2-2 and went on to win 15 straight including the Super Bowl and Philadelphia started 0-2, losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (and we all know how their season turned out) and finished the first 5 games with a 2-3 record before ripping off nine straight wins. While I think Carolina's in trouble early, I think they'll come out strong in the second half of the season.

Yes, it certainly is. Which is why I'd never make a statement like that about another team (say, the Eagles) when there is more than enough time for karma to bite my team in the ass. Guess I'm just superstitious. :D

I dont recall any eagles players making an illegal hit and breaking the ribs of an opponent who was laying on the ground helpless. Especially not a star QB in a championship game.

Tell it to the ref. If dumbass had blown a whistle, there would have been no need to bury McNabb in a game where he was already hurt and we were already dominating. The whistle wasn't blown, players play to the whistle. About the worst thing McNabb could have done in that situation was what he did: try and get back up. At that point, as far as Favors (I think?) knows, it's a live ball, and a free hit on the QB.

I'll admit, I cheered "Nice late hit!" when he hit McNabb, and then hoped there was no flag. I know there was no whistle, so tell it to the ref. I wasn't happy that McNabb was injured on the hit, but I was happy the hit occurred, if that makes any sense.

McNabb is overrated, the Eagles will never win a super bowl without cheating, and the city of Philadelphia should burn.

im willing to let this issue remain burried...BUT.....and this is a major BUT....mcnabb was in no way shape of form in the motion of getting back up....he was on the ground and maybe if he had a chance could have gotten up but he was not on his way up when he was crunched.

I haven't checked how I did last week, but it wasn't very good. I'll do better this week.

Why? Don't you want to see the most fucked up stat line at the end of the year? Bettis with the most TD and the fewest yards per carry. Staley with the most yards and fewest TDs. :lol BTW, they made too big a deal out of that last week. PEACE.

New Simmons!

Simbotics

I couldn't come up with a sixth playoff team that would drop out this year ... so I KNEW someone from Group C was fishy. I just didn't know which team. You'll know once you see the group.

...

Group C: Indy, Carolina, Green Bay, Philly, Tennessee, and Seattle (the Leap Team).

...

As it turned out, I finished 11-4-1 against the spread last week ... and only because of the above list. Looking back, I was dead-wrong about one team.

Carolina.

That's right ... the elusive Sixth Playoff Dropper-Outer.

All the signs were there with Carolina, I just missed them: Tons of good fortune last season, tougher schedule, a suspiciously low Vegas over-under of 8.5, the genuine possibility that Green Bay and Seattle were the two best NFC teams last January (and Carolina avoided playing them both). It wasn't just that the Panthers played poorly against Green Bay on Monday night. The Packers killed them. They did anything they wanted in that game -- it was like watching Johan Santana pitch to Cesar Crespo. Throw in Steve Smith's left fibula pulling a Theismann, as well as a three-steps-beyond-shaky offensive line, and Carolina looks like a hot craps player who stuck around at the table a little too long.

*sigh* :( Hopefully we'll improve in the second half of the season.

Panthers (+6) over CHIEFS
Toughest game on the board. I don't like either of these teams. At all. Have you noticed that the Chiefs have the exact same problem as the Ravens? They can't throw the ball, they can't play from behind, and they don't have a single WR who can make a play. Contain Holmes or Lewis, get a lead and you're beating either team. Throw in the fact that the Chiefs D is like the Bizarro Ravens D and I don't understand this KC affection at all. That's a 5-11 team with one great player. What's the difference between them and San Diego? Seriously, you tell me.

(Waiting ... )

(Waiting ... )

Couldn't come up with an answer, huh? Me neither. As for the Panthers, there's a decent chance that they aren't as bad as they looked against Green Bay -- maybe the Packers are much better than we realize. Or maybe the Panthers are much worse than we realize. I'm taking the Panthers for the "Banged-up playoff team reaching deep for one last gut-check win before fading into obscurity" potential.

(As for the Smith injury, I have an unbelievable roto story about this, but it's too soon. I need another week to regroup.)

At least he still picks the Panthers. This was written before the Stephen Davis injury though, so he might not be sticking with the pick. I hope DeShaun Foster and Keary Colbert have breakout games against the KC defense.

Lynch draws season's first fine
By EDDIE PELLS, AP Sports Writer
September 15, 2004

DENVER (AP) -- John Lynch saw the next-day-mail envelope in his locker and knew the news wasn't good.

The Denver Broncos safety had the distinction of being the first player to draw a fine from the NFL this season, when the league sent him a letter Wednesday demanding $7,500 for a hard hit on Kansas City receiver Dante Hall in the opener.

``I'm going to let the appeal process begin today,'' said Lynch, who has a reputation for being one of the hardest hitters at the hardest-hitting position in football.

Even before the envelope arrived, Lynch had an inkling he'd be getting reprimanded. First, he drew a penalty for the hit. Then, he saw the play on pretty much every highlight show he watched -- over and over again.

``If you make the highlights these days, you're going to get fined,'' he said. ``That's pretty much what it comes down to. It's kind of hypocritical. They put it on their `Greatest Hits,' but they'll fine you for it, too.''

Lynch drew the fine for a hard blow just below Hall's facemask as the receiver sprawled out to catch a ball over the middle. The hit came after it was fairly clear the ball couldn't be caught, although it's hard to know if Lynch could have pulled up to avoid contact in time.

Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil said it didn't look like a cheap shot to him.

``They don't want people taking shots like that,'' Vermeil said. ``But I don't think it was anything intentional. It was just a spontaneous, quick football play.''

Hall, who was not hurt on the play, joked that the fine should have been $25,000 ``for my pain and suffering.''

Lynch said officials told him he was penalized not for a helmet-to-helmet hit -- something the league has cracked down on severely over the past few seasons -- but for taking a shot at a defenseless receiver.

``They told me he was defenseless,'' Lynch said. ``Isn't that always the case?''

Week 1 Thread

I put this link in my pick post. I think every week, the lead post should have links to all the previous threads. I think it's just a good idea for being able to look back at earlier predictions and comments and compare and contrast and rip people for making stupid predictions. :D An archive of sorts. Anyway, I'm gonna tally my wins and losses tomorrow. I didn't do last week's yet, so I'll do that too. I have no fantasy football, so I guess this is as much as I'll be doing this year. PEACE.
