Giants have been getting injuries left and right since '05. They've been fairly fortunate this season defensively with them, but they were missing many guys on the line and Steve Smith's loss was obviously huge. GB didn't lose impact guys on offense for any substantial amount of time. Ryan Grant is good player, but replaceable. He was your biggest injury.
:lol

Considering the playoffs came down to the last week, i.e. one game, it seems pretty fucking significant to lose Aaron Rodgers for a game and a half. I mean, he didn't lead the league in picks like Eli but Rodgers is a pretty big part of the offense. Not to mention the GOAT TE.

That will be one of those big "What if's" in the off season. What if Rodgers had played against the Pats? Probably would have at least gotten that last chance offensive play when Flynn lost the remaining time (if Rodgers had been in that same situation).
OK, what will the Packers scheme against the Eagles? Cut down on pass rushing to stay home and keep Vick from running up the field? Or keep pass rushing and hope to get to him before he builds up speed?

Bring Matthews off the left edge, force Vick to move right, profit.

BJ Raji is going to have the most impactful no-sack game ever.

Hit him. Early and often.

I'm sure he'll get his yards and account for some scoring, I'm more interested to see how Rodgers does. He played piss poor against the Eagles the first time they played; 12 incompletions, 2 picks, barely 10 yards per completion.

This is a totally different team than that one. The Packers had *gasp* 130 yards of rushing and Finley was a huge part of that game plan as well, he caught 4 but I seem to recall he was targeting something like 9 times.

The scoreboard might read something similar, but neither team resembles the teams that played in week 1. Not just personnel changes but wholesale offensive approaches. There were 281 rushing yards in that game!

Seeing this quote from Vick saying his injured quad is only 75%...what do people think that means? Seems to me that a 75% quad is a huge deal considering in all likelihood he's gonna need to make some big runs/scramble to win.

The more I read about Farve the less I want him living in the South and hurting our reputation for civilized behavior towards the ladies.
Maybe he will find someplace in Minnesota to live so the Vikings coaching staff will not have to go far to seek guidance.

Hopefully Sanchez's shoulder will be fully healed for the Colt's game. And the Colts running game has picked up recently and their running defense was good last week.

However, the Colts running game has looked sharp recently, with over 100 yards in each of their last three games. And Indianapolis was able to stuff the run Sunday, as 2009 NFL rushing champ Chris Johnson was held to 39 yards on 20 carries.

So the Jets likely will need to pass the ball effectively to keep up with the Colts' offense. But quarterback Mark Sanchez, nursing what he has termed a sore shoulder, was in the game for only one drive Sunday and didn't even throw a pass, his work limited to handoffs.

"I never wanted (Sanchez) to get hit," coach Rex Ryan said. "We accomplished everything we wanted during the week."

I can't wait til someone writes a book about Favre. He is, truly, the original Roethlisberger....except that Green Bay, Oshkosh and Milwaukee women were always willing.

More like sconi woman are poor alcoholics and Brent offered them all kinds free booze and Vicodin so they couldn't turn it down :P

I had no idea how bad things were for the Cincinnati Bengals organization until I read about this today:

- Cincinnati is the Northern-most team without an indoor practice facility in the NFL.
- The scouting department consists of only 1 scout and 3 "scouting consultants", all of whom are family/friends of Mike Brown.
- The head coach has no control over who is drafted/signed in free agency.
- The head coach also has no control over who is on his coaching staff, as Mike Brown selects them.

I have alot more respect now for Marvin Lewis for being able to win the AFC North twice while dealing with this kind of shit.

I mean, they have a scouting department consisting of basically 1 fucking guy! :lol

That's pretty fucking crazy. No control over who is signed/drafted? Frankly I am stunned that Lewis has been able to keep the team together.

I know I'm a little crazy and that no team has ever been able to stop Vick for 52 minutes let alone 60, but if BJ Raji plays the way he has and is able to collapse the interior of that Eagles OL, it's going to be a long day for the Eagles offense. Consider also how often Dom blitzes DBs from way outside. I can't wait to watch this game, going to be a chess match between Dom and Reid (If Reid decides he actually wants to coach that day).

No wonder Cincy been shitty for basically all seasons. Haven't they pondered to themselves that they fucking suck at this and should change it up?

Sticky Ricky took a dump on the Dolphins in a radio interview.

Williams, speaking on his weekly radio spot with WQAM-560’s Sid Rosenberg, criticized Sparano on several fronts – questioning his philosophies, criticizing his “micromanaging” coaching style, accusing the Dolphins of bieng ill-prepared for their game against the Patriots and saying that Sparano lost the locker room at the end of the season, despite repeated votes of confidence from the players. “Usually when players are talking and saying the right things, it means that they’re full of s***,” Williams said.

“Tony goes through a lot of effort to show us the things it takes to win football games,” Williams said. “Not turning the ball over, converting third downs, scoring in the Red Zone. He spends a lot of time saying, ‘If you do these things, you win.’ And sometimes I feel personally that he does a little bit too much. My personal opinion is if you have the right attitude that you guys are going to win, then all that other stuff takes care of itself.”

“Coach (Nick) Saban had a saying – he said, ‘We’re worried about mouse manure, when we have elephant s*** all over the place,’” Williams added. “I want to really start focusing on what I want to accomplish and what it is I want to achieve, but not micromanaging this or that and focusing on the little things. It’s keeping my eye on the prize and putting myself in a supporting environment and going to work every day with a smile on my face.”

When asked about the main difference between the Patriots and Dolphins, he replied, “They have a quarterback.” Chad Henne finished the season with 15 touchdowns and 19 interceptions and was benched twice.

And he was critical of Brandon Marshall for the way he spoke and acted negatively toward Henne in recent weeks.

“Being around Brandon a lot – I like the guy, I think the world of him – but as a teammate, sometimes he makes it difficult to like him and support him,” Williams said. “It’s not necessarily what he says, it’s when he says it and the way he says it. But for the most part the things that he says are things that everyone else wants to say, but no one has the courage, or the balls. And some of it is intelligence – they’re smart enough not to say those things, because they don’t want to burn bridges. But when you have $50 million, then you can get away with whatever you want.”

Finally, when asked if he will watch the NFL playoffs, Williams dropped one more dagger on the Dolphins.

“I like watching the Jets play,” he said. “Because of LT. I’m an LT fan. And I like the fact that the Jets run the ball.”

Well the Dolphins are certainly a mess.

Family and friends are employed and they make a profit. Why change? (see Pirates, Pittsburgh).

Watch the Bengals season of Hard Knocks. Then realize that Mike Brown had significant say in what was aired. Focus on the Andre Smith stuff.

Then if you get a chance talk to someone who has worked for the Bengals.

Then laugh your ass off.

All that said though, Marvin Lewis has had some excellent talent and never been able to do much with it. It's a great excuse for him, but really...the guy is trash as a coach.

I have no idea what the average scouting staff level is for an NFL team but it has to be the easiest fucking job in the world. Every single game of every single player who will ever be an NFL player is on tape. It isn't like baseball where you need guys combing the world.

I would love for the Eagles to pick him up as a D coordinator.

Shit, I should have said he was bad as a head coach.

Who knows though, maybe it was just the people that Mike Brown surrounded him with. A soft coach with idiots like he has had generally is not a good combination.

All I know is during that season of Hard Knocks, I couldn't shake the feeling of "something...feels cheap."

There was this one moment where Marvin Lewis was showing up to the stadium, and the gate wouldn't open. So he just drove over the medium and went in while laughing.

I think he was crying inside.

And some coordinators are never meant to be a HC. Still would be better than McDermott.

I'm having trouble believing this. I can't see a coach with any clout at all agreeing to these terms in the first place. If he's not doing these duties, then what exactly is his job? The OC runs the offense, the DC runs the defense, the owner hires makes all personnel and coaching hires, and Marvin holds the challenge flag?

Do you guys really think McDermott is that bad? I haven't seen the Eagles as much as you have this year (obviously) but IMO it's more of a talent issue in the back seven than anything else with him. Jim Johnson had Asante, Brown, Lito, and Dawkins back there - all of which he would gladly leave on an island while he blitzed. He also had better LBs for the most part, tho Sims and Bradley (when both are actually healthy) are a great combo WLB/MLB.

Cinc was Lewis' first real shot at getting a head coaching job, what clout did he have back then? If only he held out for another year or two he could have had other opportunities. But by that point I'm sure he wondered how many offers he'd ever get.

I suppose. I guess I just think of Marvin Lewis as a long time head coach.

Sure, but that's a pretty sweet gig. He essentially has nothing to do until day 1 of training camp and even then has little influence in cuts. His job really only lasts from August to December and even after this pitiful past season the owner was willing to bring him back.

Work half a year, get paid a ton, have little responsibility and outcomes are meaningless. Only public school teachers and the Bengals head coach have a job that cushy.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lewis got another head coaching gig right off the bat but he might want to take a break after being in the Bengals cesspool for so many years.

I don't know if it's different in Wisconsin, but teachers in North Carolina get paid nothing.

The Texans are going to hire Wade Phillips, but they should hire Marvin. When they fire Kubiak mid-season, Lewis can step right in to the HC job.

I wish the Rams would have changed OCs, but I guess they'll stay the course. Lost in the praise of the 7-9 Renaissance was the fact that they beat only one team with a winning record and played the second easiest schedule.

The coaches and talent and need to improve. Bradford can't do it all himself

The hell? You should be fucking thrilled that you went 7-9 with a rookie QB throwing to the likes of Danario Alexander and Laurent Robinson.

Devaney would be crazy to replace anyone after that.

"Oh, you took a team with no expectations within one win of the playoffs, Spags? I'm going to need you to replace your coordinators. We should've gone 12-4. Let's start all over with a new offensive scheme."

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams is being advised by senior management to part ways with quarterback Vince Young, according to a league source, but the decision remains his entirely.

Adams has yet to make a final decision on keeping coach Jeff Fisher, but Adams has been made aware of the fact that Fisher will not stay if Young remains on the team.

Adams met with general manager Mike Reinfeldt and senior executive vice president Steve Underwood on Monday morning in Houston as Fisher wrapped up physicals and held a team meeting in Nashville. More meetings are expected the next few days.

"I will make the decisions that I feel are in the best interest of the team," Adams said in a statement released just before Fisher spoke to reporters Monday. "I do understand the time element involved and would expect to make these decisions in the near future."

Sources also told NFL Network reporter Albert Breer that Reinfeldt and Underwood were likely to back Fisher.

Fisher has one year remaining on his contract, and he does not believe he can win with Young on his team, according to sources close to the coach. And Fisher "has the right within his contract to play whomever he wants," according to a source. So Fisher has no intention of relenting on the quarterback issue whenever he meets with Adams.

Adams has been advised in the past against keeping Young and has been remained staunchly loyal to the 2006 first-round pick, so Titans sources are doubtful much will change now.

Adams, who lives in and spends much of his time in Houston, has a disconnect at times with what is going on in Nashville behind the scenes. So while Fisher has said repeatedly and publicly that he wants to stay in Nashville, and that is true, he is prepared to move on over the Young impasse.

Ultimately, Fisher could end up doing a year in broadcasting or work out a financial arrangement to get out of his contract when this comes to a head. Fisher is the longest-tenured coach in the NFL, by far, at 16 years.

Young, 27, finished with the best passer rating of his career (98.6) but his season ended after Week 11 when he sustained a thumb injury and subsequently had a heated locker room confrontation with Fisher.

That prompted Fisher to say there would be a quarterback change -- regardless of the reason.

After not playing for most of the second half and overtime of an overtime loss to the Washington Redskins -- Young threw the ball on the sideline and took snaps from under center and in the shotgun formation and behaved as if he wanted to return to action -- Young removed his shoulder pads and jersey while leaving the field after the final whistle.

Young, a captain and two-time Pro Bowl selection, threw this jersey and shoulder pads into the stands on his way to the locker room. Witnesses verified that police or stadium personnel had to retrieve Young's gear from the stands.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
