We have two more games against the Habs this season with only 8-9 games left.

Speaking of the last time the Leafs made the playoffs (per the Leafs section of HFboards):

  • Youtube hadn't launched
  • Facebook had just launched
  • No Leafs playoffs games have been in HD
  • Anchorman was in theatres
  • Friends was on it's last season
  • The Red Soxs were still loveable losers

I can't confirm all of those but still, WOW!

Well Leafs are my least favorite team (for obvious reasons hehe) but congrats to Leafs-GAF(since you guys are awesome on here) for making it to the dance.

I like Howard but come on!!! He is worth more like 4 million on maybe a 4 year contract, not 5.3 on 6. Now I'm pissed off which will only add to my rage if they lose tonight. Dang it, I hate this entire team and season right now. Seriously, we have Mrazek coming up as well which sucks because I think he will surpass Howard as a goaltender in a few years. Giving him 6 with Detroit's inability to trade away roster players means if Mrazek does pass Howard, we are going to have a 5.3 million dollar backup.

  • It will have been 3273 days between playoff appearances.
  • Martin St. Louis won the Hart and Mark Messier was still playing in the league.
  • The best selling game was GTA San Andreas
  • Every Call of Duty game had yet to be released
  • The Da Vinci Code and the South Beach Diet were tearing up book charts
  • Usher's "Yeah" was the top single of the year so far
  • Kate Upton was 11
  • It had been less then a year since Bush's Mission Accomplished speech on the Iraq war.

The Leafs playoff drought lasted through an entire console generation :(

The Leafs being in the playoffs is still a baffling prospect for me as well, or at least the idea of a potential Habs/Leafs first round matchup. Same with the Islanders if they make it.

Also wtf at that Howard contract. AND another wtf at Halls slash last night as mentioned, just crazy to take a hell of a chop at someone like that.

It’d be like a pro basketball team letting one of their security guards log a few minutes against their opponent – and still winning by 20.
