I made the Couts comparison. It was unclear as to which comparison you were talking about, and I was certainly COMMENTING on the original comparison so I wanted to make sure it wasn't getting attributed to me.

I followed just fine. You were ambiguous ;)

I wasn't exactly making much of a comparison besides progression / points capability relative to each other

Basically saying he still has decent potential to be a first line center

Toss that away, we have a #1 goalie for a few years and we can be back to where we started- no goalie, no #1 center

You can be sure it wasn't getting attributed to you ;) because I brought up the Richards/Kadri comparison, you replied (agreeing), and I said "It's a...", not " That's a..." ;)

How did you ever do well on the LSAT without the basic skill of deduction? ;) ;)

"It's" could have easily referred to the Couts comparison... It wouldn't have been elegant writing (in my opinion) but I don't think it would have been grammatically incorrect. I'll grant you the Richards point, but I was more trying to cover my ass there.

I'm not doing the smiley...

Also everyone should check out Norm Macdonald's (yes that one) article, The Back of the Book: The Return of the NHL and Memories of the 1972 Summit Series. The stuff about '72 is awesome, even if like me you didn't really think you ever needed to read a recollection of '72 again ever.

Don't forget grandiose promises that never panned out, such as a truculent, belligerent, pugnacious team. Or extending Ron Wilson after a two months of good hockey and then firing him a couple of months later. Or failing to make the playoffs 4 years in a row. Year after year of terrible performance, and trading two top quality draft picks for Kessel (I like Kessel btw).

Cope didn’t like Burke’s style, his manners, his profanity, his lifestyle. Some people don’t. Burke is a polarizing character, to be sure, and makes no apologies for that.

The Rogers people might not have been in love with Burke either but they weren’t prepared to axe him. Until Wednesday. It was like the decision-makers rolled out of bed, didn’t like their eggs Benedict and decided to fire the GM of the hockey team.

Except none of those reasons are why he got fired. He got fired because this Cope idiot didn't like Burke's manners and practically nagged everyone else for months to go along with him.

I still don't understand how Rogers and Bell were allowed to buy Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment together.

They are competitors.

It's not going to work out.

It's like they thought it was going to be cool and now they have to divide up the pie.. uh oh

Are they? I would say they're basically anti-competitive with eachother. Collusion and corruption abounds with the telecoms in Canada. When Rogers and Bell offer the exact same TV/phone/internet packages at the exact same price, it's pretty fucking fishy.
