NHL January 2014 |OT| Bobby Orr, Bathroom Stalls, and the Battle at the Big House

Jesus fuck, I just watched the game from today.

If Sbisa isn't on the trading block after that, I dunno what to think. I swear he only played just to show that he's healthy.

Dude ruined the defensive pairing chemistry something shocking. And played way too much of the body instead of the puck.

I get that he's trying to play shutdown, but Fistric has already shown he's a better shutdown AND playmaking D with a physical edge.

He's too far off to be considered "depth" too.

Philly, want him back?

So, Ovi's on pace for his 2nd best goal tally of his career and his second 60 goal season. Not fucking bad for a guy who looked disinterested and over the hill a couple of years ago.

If they're healthy at the deadline and Kimmo agrees to waive his NMC, a Timmonen/Sbisa swap makes sense.

Leafs are pushing to host one. Especially for 2016/17. Hosting one and participating in one are different things.

But every team wants one. Why do I know this? Because the coyotes want one. They could fit their entire fan base in the last row.

Was at the Leafer game last night, first time I'd actually been to the ACC since November actually.

Biggest thing I noticed? Fans LOVE Bernier. Numerous Bernier chants fired up, guy got a huge ovation more than once. Love to see it, he is so damn skilled it's a pleasure to watch. I think the Winter Classic performance really got the average joe's on the Berny bandwagon. Sorry Reims, you're a beaut BUT GET THE HELL OUT!

Also if you guys think Kads second goal was pretty on the TV, man oh man it was a freakin gem in person. Barn went nuts, and I was fortunate enough to be on the side where he scored for an even better view. Naz's mitts are just disgustingly dirty.

Phoenix wants an outdoor game, Toronto wants the Winter Classic again. Two different things, Winter Classic is the main stage. Dredger also said it's expected that Winnipeg will host the Heritage Classic next year which will be awesome.

Price makes a bunch of highlight reel saves again and everything is alright.

I want to see Boston/Montreal on 24/7, get a real rivalry on there.

Phoenix will almost certainly get an outdoor game, I think. It would cost the NHL peanuts to reimburse them for the lost home game.

Apparently Callahan and Girardi both want 7 year deals, Cally $6+m, Girardi $5+m. They're both out of their goddamn minds. Neither should get a deal more than 4, 5 years tops. Cally is waaaaaaaaay too much of an injury risk for such a long term deal, and Girardi has already had parts of his game exposed under AV's system (he has gotten much better recently, but he's still not the lights out shutdown guy he was under Torts).

They could play it at Glendale high schools football field.

Someone will probably give them a 7 year deal, so they're being quite rational.

I hope it is not the Flyers because I agree that 7 years is too long from a team's perspective.

Damn crazed I will never doubt you again.

I tell you guys day in and day out, but nooooo... don't listen to me

Not sure... The Ducks haven't had one all year.

*tapdance*

HMMMMMMMM

lol, every day Tabris is even more and more wrong about that. Silver linings and all, Crazed!

Your injuries aren't even close to where we are, maybe this team could do something if we had NHL players in our lineup that could provide offense, can't rely on the kids to do everything for you.

Philly - 5
Detroit - 0

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Injuries, how do they work!?!?

Guess I should start typing up my 20 page rant report when we miss the playoffs now. I'll task some of you to help with proofreading.

Sens sign deal with Bell and TSN for 12 years, they will carry at least 54 games next season.
Latendresse will be one of the analysts for RDS for Sens games.
The deal is worth $400M, after we pay off the forensic investigations and Heatley's bonus and Bobby Butler's buyout we might have some cash left to sign a dman.

THANK YOU BASED MELNYK

TSN staying relevant.
They announce a 12 year deal with the Senators. Now they will be carrying Jets and Sens regional games, but as a fan outside those areas I'd like to know how many of those will be televised nationally.

It's big for RDS too. Without hockey that station would be dead.

I think it's good to share the load between TSN/RDS and Sportsnet. I was concerned we would get less games because of the Sportsnet monopoly, but at least now TSN can have a piece of the pie too.

I don't think you'll be seeing any Senators games with TSN, since those are regional. I'm sure Sportsnet will air some games nationally.

Depends on where he's located. Sens region extends to Eastern and Northern Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada and Newfoundland.

I don't blame Callahan and Girardi for asking for so much. Richards is making $6.7M forever, Nash is $7.8M, Lundqvist is $8.5M next year.

Girardi will probably get offered a bit more than McDonaugh; say $5.25M per for 6 years. Callahan is injury prone so maybe $5.75M for 4 years.

But then again the Rangers only have 5 forwards and 3 defencemen signed for next season so they're likely going to let someone walk.

These rights are getting confusing. I assume this means that for those in Ottawa, for any Leaf game televised nationally (I think all but like 15 or so), the game will then be on TSN AND Sportsnet?

A national broadcast means Sportsnet only.
Ahhh ok, and that applies to every team right? So for example next year:

Sens game local broadcast = TSN. National = Sportsnet.

Leafs game local broadcast = Leafs TV. National = Sportsnet.

No other options, correct?

So now TSN can charge a monthly fee on top of your cable bill for Sens games like they do with TSN Jets?... .:lol How can that be a good thing? If this is what's happening.

I'll take my 80 games without any extra fees thanks.

TSN Habs was great, and came with the basic package, until my shitty satellite company deciding I was no longer in the viewing region.

Well it's good that it's TSN, I prefer their coverage.

After the BS they pulled with Alfie I'm going to wait and see what they actually do this summer and beyond.

For all we know they might just sit at the cap floor and cry how poor they are and how they need a casino.

Yeah are they going to have a TSN Sens channel that I'll have to pay more for?

Yeah, I don't know how ppl are pleased with this change lol.

For me no impact as I'll have to continue getting GCL *because* I don't want to pay $10 a month for TSN Jets. But for ppl who want the most hockey on TV it's sad news for sure, it's a lot easier for most people to pay a few bucks for the extra regional SNETs.

And honestly, TSN Jets kinda blows. Maybe TSN Sens will be better heh.

Depends on the team. Sportsnet holds the regional rights for some teams, I believe.

However, you're correct about the Senators.

Leafs, not so sure. Sportsnet has their national rights, definitely. Sportsnet owns their regional rights but I don't know if Rogers and Bell made an agreement or not for future broadcasts.

The team sells the regional rights themselves, but Rogers and Bell own a part of MLSE (such a great idea right?) so.. who knows?

Yeah are they going to have a TSN Sens channel that I'll have to pay more for?

If I had to guess, probably.

Sportsnet had their regional channels (Ontario, West, East, etc.). TSN only has TSN and TSN2 (and TSN-HABS, TSN-JETS). So they'll probably create one for the Senators and make you pay for it.

Doesn't look like it:

Brent Wallace ‏@tsn_wally
Sens fans should expect to see all the games shown on the main TSN channel. The feed will be split for the rest of the country

At least if you're in Ottawa.

Regional blackouts are supposed to be history, but it sounds like this deal includes the Sportsnet agreement for national broadcasts.

I'll be surprised if TSN charges extra, and if they could broadcast nationally, they would.

A canadian sports channel without the NHL isn't much of a network. Even though it's lol Sens and a regional deal, it's pretty important that they get some sort of NHL hockey on air.
