NHL Lockout With Your Cock Out |OT|

Honest question: Did the players delink again in the last proposal when the owners got all pissy and took their ball home? My understanding was they didn't.

They've never "fully" linked to begin with. All of their proposals in some way, shape of form have given them guaranteed money, regardless of NHL revenues.

aka if league revenues go up, their $$ go up, if league revenues go down, their $$ does not.

I've argued on HFB that Fehr's plan is to damage the NHL while ensuring the players get their salaries guaranteed (or mostly guaranteed). If the owners take a huge loss from this lockout but the players keep their money this would greatly discourage future lockouts and give the players more leverage in future negotiations (so they could remove the cap or at least poke lots of holes in it).

This is about power, Fehr wants the NHLPA to be like MLBPA.

Of course it goes both ways, the NHL would like to beat the NHLPA into the dirt and have them roll over every time the CBA comes up for renewal.

I just hope when the season is cancelled early in january the owners withdraw their current proposal and go back to the very first one they offered

Seconded. The only thing that will make up for this cancelled season will be seeing the players crawl back on their hands and knees and eat shit in the end.

Apparently the current player's vote has 3 options:

http://legrandclub.rds.ca/profils/608456/posts/151827/public

1) Keep negotiating
2) Take last offer
3) Decertify

Just watched the Hobbit trying to forget about Team Hope, and it was so good. Loved every second of it.

If you enjoyed LOTR you should love it. I don't understand where all the criticism is coming from.

I don't get it either. It was fun and entertaining. I feel like critics are make too big a deal about the book being pretty thin, and PJ basically breaking it apart into 3 movies.

I'm still keen on watching the HFR version sometime soon. I'm hoping my theatre doesn't take it out before next week.

RNH with the steely-eyed gaze of a stone professional fucking killer. Messier looked like a mewling paper-boy caught in the rain in comparison to this leader of men.

Yup. I have no idea how I feel anymore given how low both sides have gone. Pathetic.

Why rush back to a 48 game joke of a season filled with injuries and sloppy hockey for half of that season?

Take the year off, get rid of some of teams and come back with a better product.

Not sure whether or not I'm on Team Hope or Nope. I choose to stay neutral and be on Team Dope.

I can't deny I want the NHL back. I love hockey as we all do here, but it's hard to cheer for any of the potential on ice product given what the players/owners are putting the fans through.

edit: @cube444 .... ehhhh, I don't mind a shortened season really, certainly makes every game much more important, but yes, I'm on side nope just as much to end the season and let them figure it all out eventually.

The NHL is never, never ever ever, going to contract and drop to 28 or 26 teams. I don't know why people assume that's even a possibility.

Not that I'm in the camp of the league contracting, but there were people saying Winnipeg would never get an NHL team back anytime soon, but it happened all of a sudden. I was certainly in that camp.

I didn't expect it to be the Thrashers, though. You guys remember the Thrashers?

Weren't they a wrestling tag team in the 80s?

Does anyone know a good way to view the games while overseas? One of those random streaming sites I guess?
I'm assuming there will be quite a few streams up, especially with it being in Russia. Timing of the games sucks as, but excited to have 3 big prospects to watch on 3 different teams.

That's what you get for having a President's Trophy winning team loser! Sub .500 seasons are where it's at.
Nicklas Jensen would have easily qualified for the world juniors. The problem is that his team can't qualify at all.

Gaunce and Corrado would've both made it onto Team Canada if it weren't for the lock out either.

I'm happy with our pool considering our garbage picks.

Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.

I at least get Baertschi to watch...

Habs fan's would have had 4 prospects to watch, if team France wasn't garbage. Lockout definitely fucked over some prospects, but it will be nice if they can get gold back.

Who do you cheer for Smiley seeing as you're a turncoat, and racist?

First Switzerland, then Canada. Given that they're in 2 different groups, it shouldn't create too much friction. If they play each other, I cheer for Switzerland.

Esp given I have no Canucks prospects to cheer for...

On another note: I have tickets for a Davos-x game at the Spengler Cup, with x being Canada if they lose their first group game. So I'll actually be actively cheering for Canada to lose their first game, so I get to see them play Davos. Aka Nash/Thornton vs Team Canada.

He's a very good defensive center that can put up points. Team Canada loves role players and he fills a bottom six shutdown or 13th specialist role perfectly. Plus, the fact that he can play any forward positions would've helped his case a lot.

He would've gotten an invite if he didn't injure his shoulder and threw off his season.
