Well, today is the day I get to witness a massacre right in front of my eyes. So I haven't really been keeping up with much but I guess Abby is injured now too? So for the most part this team consists of half of the Griffins day 1 lineup...
It will probably be the last Wings game I catch for a while, I don't expect a win, heck, I don't expect them to score. I hope they at least make it somewhat entertaining tonight but doubtful they will. At least I get to see a lot of our up and coming youth, never thought I would be able to say that. The offseason just needs to get here, we have a good team and one that can contend if half of them weren't injured. When that time comes and we miss the playoffs I'll need to make sure to avoid all news as much as possible for a little while since I know it will be on any sports news you can find, that's probably going to be the worst part for me as I really don't want to hear about it.

I miss free games. Confined to the cheap gimmicks of the AHL.
Next season you should write a diary. I would love to read that thing at the end of the season, or at least give it to a mental health specialist for research.

Edit: I can tell you what a health specialist would say: This reads like someone who gets pissed off when their team loses, but is happy when they win. Or where I care too much about this team that I get too stressed out about them and need time to just clear my head of them for the time being.

Eh, only for this year, if we can stay healthy next year (yeah that is a long shot), we could be pretty dang good with the mix of getting rid of useless vets and the kids starting to come to their own. We just need to shore up the D though, and not resigning Kyle Q and trying to get a good solid offensive D man would do us wonders.

Unfortunately, this is true. I can only hope we let Mrazek play more or let Gus play more. Howard is just way too inconsistent and the team just doesn't play good when he is in net.
Inconsistency, injuries, shitty special teams and mediocre defense.
After Ward's leg injury a few years back, dude has been constantly getting injured. I think he's having back problems now. I think his prime years are behind him now. He was the workhorse of the team and was basically the only reason we made it into the playoffs in 2009 and were as close as we could get into making the playoffs since then, unfortunately Cam can't score goals (he does have one though!).
Last season, for example, we were actually doing well until Ward got injured. Then we had to bring in Justin Peters who has started before in a backup role and was more or less a career AHL'er. He did ok but Carolina's defense core who was used to letting Ward take the shit weren't ready for the lower level of play from Peters. We basically nose-dived after Ward got hurt. Oh, and we had Dan Ellis. I don't think I need to explain that.
On paper we have a pretty decent team - Eric and Jordan Staal, Semin, Skinner, Ruutu(before we traded him), Faulk, Hainsey, Gleason(before we traded him) but things just haven't been able to mesh.
3 losses in a row, but 7 wins in a row before that...
They had actually won 8 in a row, then the Leafs shamed them, and they're still reeling from it.

It was a bad call by the refs but I served my time in the penalty box. Obviously the stars took a big dump while I was in the box.
