I think they cut off that replay of the hit on McIlrath right before the thing that actually injured him. It looked like Clutterbuck was falling down onto his leg in the follow through of the hit. Totally clean, just unfortunate. Knee injuries were a big part of why it took so long for McIlrath to develop, so hopefully it's nothing serious.

Between Big Mac's injury and Boyle's assist AV can now play him and Girardi 30 mins each, as he's always desired. He must be so happy.

Didn't see the leg follow-up... that sucks. I knew about previous leg problems. Hopefully he's alright. It's already slowed down his career =/

LOL, MSG's scoring summary for the period needed two screens.

Eric Staal living up to that Islanders killer mantle I put on him earlier, by the way. 1 goal, 1 assist, 5/5 on faceoffs. Dominant in his time on the ice.

McIlrath came back out for the second, tried to skate for a bit, and then went back to the locker room.

At least that makes it seem not quite as bad as it could have.

Cosmic Queso!

The likelihood of the Coyotes ending up in Tempe is increasing each day and the organization is hopeful a deal with Arizona State could happen by the end of the season.

This is as optimistic as I’ve seen the parties involved in some time.

Coyotes president, CEO and co-owner Anthony LeBlanc has mentioned his “tight alliance” with ASU in the past and it’s true. Both sides have said privately how positive the process has been. Because it’s a deal that wouldn’t require a referendum, the process of a building a shared facility for the Coyotes and ASU – which moved up to the NCAA level this season – could get under way quickly once an agreement is reached.

The Coyotes also have had discussions with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and Phoenix about a possible shared facility with the Suns, but talks with ASU have progressed the fastest.

This is great news for the Valley. The attendance struggles at Gila River Arena have less to do with how the community feels about professional hockey and more about the location.

A Southeast Valley site would boost attendance.

I always thought the NHL drafted players stupidly early.

It used to draft at 20

If this means the end of the CHL 2 year window, then all the better. Teams need flexibility of their players. Too good for major junior and not good enough for NHL is happening far too often.

They finally let someone other than Eric Staal take a faceoff. Lost and immediately in the net from Clutterbuck. Of course.

5-4 Islanders

EDIT: Empty netter, and that will do it.
