And to go even further Zaraki, it's what Vokoun wanted. Caps were ready to roll with Neuvy/Holtby until Vokoun's agent called McPhee and said he'd sign with the Caps for $1.5M.
I apologize Jackass, I shouldn't have assumed that Cole was signed in the summer to actually get points. I guess a 4 year, $18M contract puts him in the "defensive specialist" category. They sniping is left up to the actual offensive forces on the Habs like Gomez and Eller.Foreign Jackass said:I wonder how you live with being a Leafs fan when you always judge your players performance by their point totals.
Actually that explain why you rave about Kessel, who's always finishing ahead of every Habs players in points, but for some reason never plays in May...

Very true and Reimer is quickly closing the gap on that advantage too.Simon Belmont said:Habs fans just can't admit that with the exception of Price, Habs are a worse team than the Leafs this year.

Both teams are in the same boat: if their goalies don't have huge years, they're both missing the playoffs.bonesmccoy said:Worse? Fully fit, Montreal have an excellent line up. Absolutely there are problems with the team, but fewer than Toronto. If Reimer is unable to keep form, we're 0-3.
As I keep posting, my main concern isn't Gomez, glass Cammalleri/Markov, or Cole, but JM overusing Subban. Obviously he's capable of putting in long minutes each game, but is that in and of itself good? This is just his sophmore year, and its not unheard of for players to experience a bit of regression this early in their careers. JM runs the risk of making this season so much worse for him.
A think the reason for that was that they were five-hole saves, and he just wanted to be certain that the puck didn't trickle through after he made the initial save.added_time said:I don't like how often Reimer looks behind himself into the net because he thinks he didn't make the save. It makes it seem like he is making a lot of saves by accident and not really following the shot but maybe I'm just reading into it too much.
He definitely saved the game last night.
A nice comeback win though. Loved it.

Foreign Jackass said:It's so good to see Leafs fans repeat their early season Habs bashing and subpar Leafs-player ballwashing. They're like an alcoholic's wife before the eventual beating. :LOLRed_Man said:So I was out drinking tonight missed the third period and just caught the highlights on sportscentre. 1 great goal by gionta, 2 amazing fucking play by AK to patches and DD and what a bullshit penalty against Diaz the guy lost his edge. Anyways subban and price have been sub par, once they step up and Markov and Cammy come back were golden. To all the deluded leaf fans I offer a permaban bet that the habs finish the season above the leafs in the standings. This excludes manics seeing as he already has a bet this is for epic, zombie and others time to put up or shut up. If you really believe kessel and riemer will save you put up your account.
Wow. A great defensive play by Bozak leading to a great finish by Kessel.Montresor said:
Red Man is a bit of a chicken. I already made a perma-ban account bet about the Leafs making the playoffs this season and I even challenged Red Man directly to take me up on it. Not only did not take me up, no Habs fan did. Now he expects someone else to take his bet? Please.Dr.Guru of Peru said::LOL
There isn't a single Leafs fan that cares enough about the habs to take this bet.

Wrong again Jackasss, last season we weren't bashing the Habs early because they got off to a 2-1-1 start after 4 games. This year you're more smelly.Foreign Jackass said:It's so good to see Leafs fans repeat their early season Habs bashing and subpar Leafs-player ballwashing. Gunnarsson with a Kaberle-esque pass to spring Kessel. He keeps getting better and better.Montresor said:Steckel has been an awesome acquisition for the Leafs so far. It feels like the Leafs are winning every faceoff. Steckel is currently third overall in the league in faceoff percentage (and he's taken around 20 more faceoffs than Richards and Thornton, who are in 1st and 2nd place respectively).
I'm so happy to see Reimer have a solid game after his atrocious third period against Ottawa.
I'm not sure what to expect versus Colorado. In the back of my mind, if they win, I'll always be saying "So what? They started 4-0 last year." But I am enjoying the play as of late. Kessel and Phaneuf are carrying the team.
This goal by Kessel from last night is beautiful.
The biggest disappointment has been Schenn. He's played really badly (and he only got 13 minutes last night). He needs to step his game up.
I swear I saw him against CBJ on Wednesday.Cactus said:Any Avs fan know what's up with Peter Mueller? Is it a return of post-concussion symptoms or is it actually an "illness" that's keeping him out?
He played a few games to start but he's sat out the last two and is "very doubtful" for tomorrow against the Leafs.Milly79 said:I swear I saw him against CBJ on Wednesday.

I find it hard to believe that some Habs fans aren't legitimately concerned.
:lol put your accounts up then if you guys are so confident, I want to take advantage of this leafs stupidity and unrealistic optimism.Simon Belmont said:Habs fans just can't admit that with the exception of Price, Habs are a worse team than the Leafs this year.

Doesn't really matter because none of these leaf fans would accept the bet anyways because they know in reality Leafs chances of making the playoffs or passing the habs are at about 10%, so now that I know that, they can continue on their train of delusion and I don't mind.Manics said:2 things Red:
1. You had your chance at an account bet when I offered and you passed
2. Bish is reluctant to allow our members to get perma banned since hockey fans on GAF aren't exactly a majority of posters. We are few. Of course he'd be happy to perma ban me luckily the Leafs won't allow that to happen.
Damian Cox? said:When you consider that former first-round pick Nazem Kadri has yet to play a game while Joe Colborne has opened the AHL season on fire with the Marlies, the true indication that the Leafs may be headed in the right direction for the longer haul is that there is growing depth throughout the organization, and most of it is young.
Remember, there is only one player with the Leafs or Marlies Jeff Finger who is older than 30, and Finger doesnt play.
I think maybe it's because most Leafs fans around here don't give a damn where Montreal finishes in the standings.Red_Man said:Doesn't really matter because none of these leaf fans would accept the bet anyways because they know in reality Leafs chances of making the playoffs or passing the habs are at about 10%, so now that I know that, they can continue on their train of delusion and I don't mind.

So if that's the case and you don't think the Leafs have a shot at the playoffs, why didn't you take my account ban bet?? I've put my account up if the Leafs miss the playoffs, if you're so sure I'm dead wrong put your account up.Red_Man said:Doesn't really matter because none of these leaf fans would accept the bet anyways because they know in reality Leafs chances of making the playoffs or passing the habs are at about 10%, so now that I know that, they can continue on their train of delusion and I don't mind.
There's no incentive to put up my account when there is no reward and you will just get banned regardless, its just basic risk-reward that's why I want someone else to put their account up. I do respect you for putting yours up though, at least your backing up this faith you have in them. I guess I'm just surprised that after last years 4-0 starts people are still falling for this again.Manics said:So if that's the case and you don't think the Leafs have a shot at the playoffs, why didn't you take my account ban bet?? In the Leafs case, I'd say just another couple weeks would do.SuperSonic1305 said:You're not allowed to be excited or in any way happy for your team until half way through the season. STOP BEING POSTIVE DAMN IT. I say we change NHL-GAF rules. NO POSTING ABOUT YOUR TEAM UNTIL A MINIMUM OF 40 GAMES PLAYED.
You forgot to list their league ranking in wins.Red_Man said:On the Habs slow start "After 4 games, #Habs are 5th in shots allowed, 7th in 5on5 ratio, 8th in ES scoring. Problem is special teams & slow start by Price, not D". Price and Subban have been bad, and they both know it and will adjust to it, anyone who thinks Hab fans should be worried belong on hfboards. This isn't football there is 82 games and JM will make necessary adjustments, and I have no doubt Price and Subban will step up. Markov is suppose to be skating with the team this week, although I still expect a move or 2 from PG. There's a lot of positives from last nights games, and if you look past the box score, were in a good position right now.
