No doubt a tremendous long-shot to make the team, but still nice to see him invited/recognized.

Said it before I could. Glad to see him on that list.

Patrick Sharp better make Team Canada this year. He is a very good two way player and with a good team of play makers around him he can score easily.

I'm happy to see Ladd got invited. May not make the team, but that is pretty awesome. Crazy good group of players, overall.

I'd like to see the goalies be Crawford, Luongo and Smith.

Lupul should of been invited along with Spezza. Kunitz and Eberle are obviously joke invites. No Fluery or Ward invite is a surprise as well.
Eh? Who else is going to stage the comeback and tie the game if we're ever trailing by 2 or 3 goals with a couple minutes left?

Also:
Fleury is horrible and Ward is mediocre. I could not care less who the 3rd goalie is. Although I'm surprised they invited Holtby over Dubnyk and Reimer.

It's a solid invite list. Also, Patrice Bergeron deservedly made the 2010 team despite not being invited to the camp...

A lot of young players in there without much pro experience.
They're probably just grooming them for the future by letting them hang out with the pros during camp.
It'd be hilarious if they actually put them on the team; would seriously piss off the pros who didn't make the team.

wow good on Gardiner, didn't expect that - camp should be a great experience for him
I like how the US is giving these newer players a chance to attend camps, great experience for players they hope will be on the team in the future.

Leafs avoid arbitration with Carl Gunnarsson by signing him to a deal worth $9.45 million over 3 years ($3.15 cap hit).

Yay!
Not a bad price considering how hes played. Hoping they don't force him into a top pairing role again, he should be on the 2nd pairing :/

Franson would get more than that, no? Can the Leafs afford both him and Kadri?

Unless we move salary no
Franson is gone, Rielly fills the role in a year or two.
I predict we would sign Kadri and Fraser

Dopey pls Kadri, Franson, Fraser left, one has to go and Franson would net greatest return and we would never move Kadri unless overpaid.

My justification for these choices are mostly based on built-in chemistry certain players have, redundancies in certain roles, and their history playing for Team Canada.

For example. I put Letang out as a wildcard due to his iffy defensive play. He'd be a great PP specialist, but with Doughty, Keith and Pietrangelo capable of filling that role, it makes more sense to bring in a more defensively minded player like Hamhuis, who plays on the left and has previous chemistry with Weber.

My top six D would be

Keith-Doughty
Hamhuis-Weber
Bouwmeester-Pietrangelo
Subban
Seabrook

Everyone plays their proper side and all the pairings have some form of chemistry with each other.

Subban can draw in as a PP specialist and Seabrook can draw in as a shutdown specialist.

I was right on who would be on the Olympic teams, except I didn't expect Duchene to get an invite. He probably won't make the team though, unless he plays wing.

Who else could they have picked?

I'm not versed enough in the KHL to say, but he's had a KHL coach and the Blues mention that his conditioning isn't matching his skillset. The KHL guy wasn't as nice about it either. Didn't use the word lazy, but wasn't far off of that.

Duchene clinched his invite during the WHCs. 2nd in goals, 3rd in TOI among forwards. Best forward excluding the top line.

So he's Russian.

So will Team Sweden consist of pretty much the Wings roster plus the Sedins and Lundqvist?

USA has gotta be desperate to invite Abdelkader to the camp. Good lord.

But Franchise Defensemen and next Lidstrom, Danny Deykeyser is on that list, AH YEAH!!!!
