Then I think I might really enjoy this one. That's the type of vibe I need.

I get my bangers from ratchet songs I know I shouldn't like.

Yeah but Kendrick's bangers > Any other bangers.

I still listen to Money Trees and Bitch Don't Kill my Vibe to this day. Sooo good.

I wonder what his plans are for the next album.

Urgh I am not feeling the new Kendrick album, I was hoping for a banger like Maad City, with the new car purchase and the spring weather I was hoping for some music for my rap car banging in suburban canada scaring white people.

:( this shit sounds like a 90s jazz album.

Back to schoolboy Q.
A yaris is not a rap car.

Lol at that Kreider trip on Gudbranson last night

Remember guys and gals, he still doesn't know his own strength.

I didn't see it, but I heard it was a bad hit. Also, one of the reasons why Kreider has improved by leaps and bounds over the course of this season is because he has been learning to use his strength and size much more effectively, just like I said he needed to. :D

He still takes the most penalties of anyone on the team, but he has cleaned up his game a great deal, while still being a major annoyance for the opponent. He's smartened up his game a great deal (playing on a line with guys with the hockey IQ of Stepan and St. Louis will do that) and become a more much effective power forward for it. Despite that, though, he still takes a few too many dumb penalties. Not generally dirty, mind you, just dumb.

Fake Edit: Just saw a replay. That was pretty late and really awkward. I don't think he goes out of his way to stick his leg out, but he also didn't do much to try to avoid the knee on knee contact either. Pretty nasty. Also not sure how the official who was RIGHT THERE and looking at it the whole time didn't call anything (well, ok, he's just a linesman, but there was a referee right behind him by the blue line who was also looking at it). Like, even if you don't think the leg contact was deliberately dirty, it was still late. Weird.

That hit's not really very characteristic of the way Kreider has played over the last, say, 3 months or so. He HAS cleaned up his game a great deal, but that hit sure doesn't show it. That's much more reminiscent of Kreider from October or November when his brain was somewhere else. Not a good play at all.

I want to see a team in Vegas just to see what happens when pro athletes from a major 4 sport are exposed to vices regularly. We're talking smack, crack, pot, gambling, strippers, escorts.

And buffets!

The team needs their own version of 24/7 for this very reason. Imagine guys like Seguin if they were drafted by a Vegas team?

Kind of a long shot with all the potential candidates out there, but AV deserves a look for the Jack Adams if the Rangers win the President's Trophy without Lundqvist.

There are more people in Orange County alone than the entire state of Nevada. The three counties immediately surrounding OC contain of 15.5 million additional people. Apples and oranges, really.

All I meant was that (presumably) the NHL has done enough market research to be more informed than you or I as to where a team will work. That plus they feel its critical for the longevity of the league to get into these kind of markets. If they were content to remain a niche league, we'd already have more teams in Canada.

As long as they avoid the usual pitfall of rewarding a coach for having a hot goalie I'm cool with the choice. So AV, Capuano, and Cooper are all solid picks.

of course it's probably going to be Hartley...lol

really though isnt it time for Babcock to win one?

You're right that they have the market research to justify their decisions on paper at least, but it's not like they've been batting a thousand with regards to placing teams. Las Vegas is a very unique test case, too, because it is a city almost entirely populated by tourists. Especially the area in which the team would actually be located. And more than a quarter of the people visiting Las Vegas are coming from SoCal, which is already serviced by two NHL teams.

It will be very interesting to see, that's for sure. I hope it's a success, because I want the league to be healthy and I want it to actually join the upper echelon of sports in the US.

I do agree that it could be a spectacular failure (relying on tourists as your main ticket buyers scares me greatly), but if it succeeds it definitely boosts the profile of the league.

I also really want Quebec to get their team, but thats just for the selfish reason of wanting to see Nords/Habs rivalry resurrected.

I think that it would be smarter for the league to solidify and expand support in the South and the Northwest before they go after the relatively small Southwest desert market. New Orleans, Seattle, maybe an Austin (or other Texas) team. As you said I don't have the market research they do so I'm not sure which cities in these areas would be best, but Vegas just comes across as a Hail Mary play.

If you add Seattle to the Pacific Division as a natural (and almost cross-town) rival to Vancouver, and then add another Texas team to the Central Division to give the Stars a natural rival, then you add a new market and bolster another potentially huge one while also balancing each Conference at 16 teams each. Seems kind of intuitive to me.

Houston would've been a lock if it weren't for Les Alexander cockblocking even minor league teams in recent years.

Of all Texas cities, Austin and San Antonio are the only two that can fulfill the "other" Texas team quota at the moment. The latter of the two has the operable arenas... A shitty NBA arena and the giant pile of Henry Cisneros's shit known as the Alamodome.

Is there some behind the scenes reason why there aren't any pro teams in Austin? It seems like a perfect place for a team from pretty much any league to theoretically set up shop. An NHL team would seem to have a monopoly in that town, only competing with the Longhorns. And if you're going to be competing with someone, it's not bad to have to compete with a team that plays once per week.

Edit: wow, looking at the tv market size of Austin compared to Houston is eye opening. 700,000 vs 2.2 million. Seems like Houston is by far the way to go if it were possible.

While the football program would not be a problem, the basketball program would definitely ring a bell or two since that's also very popular in Austin. Not to mentioned there have been talks of demolishing the Frank Erwin Center to make way for a new medical facility up there, so who knows what's going to happen there. I don't even know of the Frank has an ice making system to be quite honest.

Boring hearing about the GM meetings and hearing the same old topics. New rules ideas that will affect the pace of the game, etc etc.. beats me why that doesn’t include getting rid of fighting, or the constant scrums that slow games to a crawl. If they’re focused on making the 60 minutes go by at a great pace, eliminate the nonsense that happens when the clock is stopped.

It's crazy how many Habs fans here are really Nordiques' fans just waiting for them to return so they can stop caring about Montreal. And I'm talking about people who live in and around Montreal specifically.

Most gradually shifted over just because of a desire to watch hockey, but there are still a ton who refuse to cheer for the Habs and have gravitated to other teams like the Bruins. I've heard it so many times. Quebec makes a lot of financial sense, that arena would be full all the time.

I think the league needs more scoring. The last time players finished under 90 points was in the early 60's I saw today. Thats ridiculous.

League needs to make the nets bigger and get rid of all the clutch and grabbing that has seeped back into the game.

Also, I really want a 3 point system. Teams sit back just hoping to get that OT point. Teams should get 3 points for winning in regulation and actually going for it. It's boring knowing that teams are just going to trap for the last 5 minutes of a game so they get a point.

Wonder what his source is though? NHL needs to make its contract shit public, so we don't have to contend with this ambiguity anymore.

The team was his source :p

I've cleared up this mess once and for all. I asked the team. One site had Hammond list as UFA. Another RFA. Hammond is UFA. #Sens

edit: Wait, he's actually a UFA, d'oh, 7 year contract incoming

It's probably the idea of making salaries officially public that doesn't sit well with the players and NHL. News outlets report it, but it's usually never from the team or league.
