Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch |OT|

Man, it's tough to win those casino games. The only one I've had any success with is the blackjack table.

I got all of my coins from Platoon. Once you learn how to play your cards, you win much more than you lose. You don't win them all, but all you need is 6 in a row one time and you're pretty much set.

I'm encountering a weird glitch, with a certain caved gentleman that knows a thing or two about Alchemy:

I got the recipe using the Heart of the Muse from him. I assumed you had to zone out and back in to get the other recipe's (I also have Riddle Rivet and something else.) I did so, and he was flashing on the map again. Great! However, when I walk up to him and the speech bubble pops above his head implying you can talk to him, his icon changes on the mini map, and he just gives me the generic alchemy drivel. What gives?

I'm still not super into the battle system, so I really appreciate that there's an easy mode. 40 hours in and I've been loving everything else about the game and found boss fights still regularly provided some challenge without feeling like huge difficulty spikes. I've reached a point where I'm a bit overlevelled from doing sidequests (particularly Derwin's) though, but I ain't complaining. :p

This is a really well-crafted JRPG, it's nice to get one of these every now and then (heck, I wish we got JRPGs of this quality more often).

Help, I'm at the
Fairyground
at the moment and must make a decision:

Should I leave Drippy behind or not? Also, what's with that optional sidequest? What should I do
?

Just do it!
But seriously, just part of the story, you'll see.

Just thought of something last night when catching up on errands and bounty hunts.

You can't fast-travel to a location like the Shipwreck Shore and (I think) you can only reach that location in the Sea Cow.

What happens if I sail there and then fast-travel to somewhere else? How would I get back to the Sea Cow?

The boat follows you when you cast travel; it'll be at the nearest coastline.

any way to avoid that REALLY low accuracy on some familiars? Like my Dino has 5-6 accuracy, it's bullshit 'cause axes or armors without an accuracy loss are really awful so I can't use them at this point.

Level 75, with 2 more bounties and a few more errands. Finished getting all hidden chests and the Globetrotter trophy. Saving the familiar collecting one for last, hope I don't regret leveling some up as I go along.

Wtf, the (post game boss spoiler)
Guardian of the World
was a hell of a lot easier than the previous boss I had to face where I actually died once even though everyone is level 95. Oh well I'm not complaining about an easy gold trophy.

I'm in Hamelin now, but something has happened and I feel like I missed two hours of gameplay because I have no idea why this happened.
I met the prince dude who is missing his belief, and afterwards everyone is walking around without pig armor and it seems like I'm in the past? The emperor just sent me out to go to this graveyard dungeon and get the Mornstar so we can go back to the future. It looks like I missed the part where something happens and I get transported to the past? Why did this happen and how? Oliver and co are acting like it's logical... I'm really confused.
Could anyone explain maybe? Thanks!

Lovely game by the way, although I don't like Hamelin so much as the other areas.

the sudden fog after leaving the chamber of the prince was the transition to the past

So I shouldn't try the
final boss reskin
at level 75?

Okay so I managed to get a spawn with a pair of Tokotokos, but one of them was able to get away. What's the best strategy for taking them down fast before they can do that?

Honestly it's the extra enemies that make it a pain in the ass. When 6 enemies including the boss are hitting you at once it's hard to keep healing up, especially since the strong spells stop you from moving and leave you exposed. I lost about 250 health on Oliver while giving Esther a full heal spell when she was almost dead, which then killed Oliver. I'm not sure what level you need to be but I would say mid 80s should be more than fine.

AOE abilities that stop everything that's going on. Then use everything you have on them so they die fast. Don't be afraid to burn through MP fast since you'll likely level a bunch of times in each encounter.

Where is Teeheeti again...? I need to go there for a side mission or something but there is no fast travel for it...whats the closest..?

Can anyone with the guide help me out with this one familiar capture quest? It's #074.

I have the
flash fry
but I can't find a good guide that tells me what the other two first form creatures are.

I just got the same sidequest. Took me an hour to do the Yule one before heading to the marshes as I like to do every sidequest possible before proceeding. I transport to Perdida and of course this asshole is waiting for me with an even tougher sidequest.

Be ready because there's another one after that! Although I'm not sure if it's the same kind, the description just says to fight and defeat a creature instead of capturing it.

Teeheeti is the island on which the
Fairy City
is located. So just fast travel to that city.

Speaking of which...whee is Shipwreck Shore exactly? I have a sidequest to do there and don't remember coming across it yet.

I'm just got the second
stone
and about to go to the last one where there's a snowy area....how far in am I exactly? Just curious.

EDIT: Whoops, sorry for the double post.

Is there any way to get out of the
Glittering Grotto? I made it to the boss at the end of the cave, but he totally destroys my party. I burned down icicles to get a treasure chest, and I can't seem to find anyway back to the entrance with those icicles gone. And looking at GameFaqs, I made the mistake of going for the hardest Magic Stone first.

Well if you make it there you should be able to beat the boss, worst case you could probably just farm around and use the save point to heal yourself.

Like you said, I don't think there's a way back but I can't remember well.

I feel like this game is taunting me now. The spawn rates for these gold familiars that drop/steal scrolls of truth are already low on top of the really low drop rate of those items so I finally find one....and it's bugged out and stuck to the ceiling with no way for me to get to it or have it charge at me.

edit: And now I just got a scroll of truth in 2 consecutive battles. I'm definitely being toyed with here.

happened to me at the last boss in GOW3.
its sucks.

does it stay on for about 15 minutes or does it immediately YLOD when you power it up?

No just blinks red and dies.

To be fair I've had an original 60gb unit (upgraded HDD) since launch and I haven't had a single problem as of yet. So I totally got my use out of the old girl, still. Why'd it have to happen when Ni No Kuni finally came out!!

Iciciles grow back so you should be able to backtrack and pulse them again.

So, is this one worth a full price purchase?

It all depends on what you want out of it. If you're looking for a good RPG with a deep and well polished combat system: no. If you want to play through a Studio Ghibli film: yes.

Yeah. The battles are nothing special, but it's hard not to fall in love with the beautiful world. And the music. And Drippy.

I'll never forget this game.

Use the Vacate spell.

Oh rock of ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still. Oh lady moon shine down, a little people magic if you will.
I would have suggested this too but I don't remember when or how you get it.

After Al Mammaoon,
Castaway Cove, second visit. A riddle from Horace whom is standing on the bridge near the ship. :)

Just got the ship and
stranded on Teekee. Man, that Shadar fight was hard!
The more I play the clearer it gets: GOTY is already here. I almost never buy a game full price, let alone pre-order one, but i'm glad I did this time :D

I'm hearing so much complaints about the battles, I really don't get it. I find it to be one of the most fun battle systems ever. Sure, the A.I likes to use their MP but that's the only problem i've encountered so far.

I'm currently in Hamelin. I haven't really done any story missions yet as i've just been clearing out the errand board. Anyway, Oliver is at 37 and Mitey is at 35 in his second form. He's still the hardest hitting familiar that I have (the other two are Purrcy and Biggs). This is kind of starting to worry me since i've heard that Mitey isn't really that good once you get later into the game. Are there any familiars that I can pick up now that will work out well for the rest of the game?

anyone?

btw battles are getting really boring, IA is shit and it's a lot worse late game than early. also I don't understand why they need 5 or more seconds to defend when I use "all defend" or w/e is called, if the boss is fast with those moves they won't defend at all and it's really stupid.
