Saw 1 single copy at Best Buy so I picked up, havent got to play much yet, maybe 5 minutes so far, about to go find a wand (seriously, only had about 5 minutes to play.

Wasted most of my time skipping cut scenes, hope it lets me "play" soon. Everytime I think their over another one pops up. Yeah, I know I suck, I dont watch cut scenes in games or pay attention to the stories, I just like playing.

What are you doing playing an RPG?

I'm not saying Ni No Kuni has a masterful story or anything but I think you might want to consider a different genre :/.

Just beat it. 43 1/2 hours. So awesome.

Time to do some mop up work for trophies.

Yet another question:

I started doing Horace's stuff, seeing as I need it for "getting all of Oliver's spells" trophy, and answered his riddle in Castaway Cove. Where'd he run off to now?

I think the next one is on Teehee

Just finished the game. Can't even remember the last time I beat a JRPG... really enjoyed it. I probably won't go for the Platinum... the 250 familiar trophy just seems like too big of a time sink ;O

Bought the hard-cover Prima guide at Gamestop. Feel like I lucked out; expected it to be harder to find. I just waltzed right in on a whim and they had it. I suppose for $40 though it wouldn't expectedly fly off the shelves.
Anyone have trouble getting their hands on one (brick&mortar-wise?)

I wanna sell my Gold Hurly code though. $7 Paypal. If anyone's interested, PM me. Offers accepted.

Just finished the game.

Took me a bit below 33 hours, which makes me wonder why everyone is claiming that this game is 40-50h, if not going for full completion.

I did most (but not all) sidequests, and all bounty hunts, which gave me enough merit badges to get the last reward (
the +100hp/mp one
).

No way in hell that I'm going to spend the time to collect all of the pokemon though, so I'm not sure if I'll touch much of the post game content. I'll probably do the bounty hunts or something.

Anyways, for people starting out in this game.
Getting Dinocerus will make this game ridiculously easy, so if you want a challenge, it's probably best to just skip him.
Other than that, the game was kindof great :)

where can i get more drops for metamorph pls? i got a lot of the jumbo ones but not enough of the normal ones...?

I know you can get a lot of moon and sundrops in the area where you can catch a dinoceros because I got a ton there yesterday. You can steal them from the enemies and you basically get one every other battle. No clue about star or planet though.

Completed the game yesterday in just over 60 hours with every sidequest done. Enjoyed every minute of it. Not sure if I will do all the post-game stuff, but will probably return later to do some of it :)

Just reached the point where I get my ship and can travel around. So far I haven't had many challenging battles apart from one or two single ones. But suddenly on the sea the battles are incredibly hard and I die every second time...

That is why I hate RPGs :( But I really wanna finish this one.

Just started playing, about 2 hours in and really liking it. Oliver heavily sighing after every victory as if so exausted from pressing x once or twice is the worst and my only issue with the game so far. It isn't exactly a thrilling victory tune.

i'm at 45 hours played and nowhere near the end. i have finished a lot of sidequests though.
Me too. I could finish the game right now, but I've been working on getting familiars. I should start working on doing the alchemy stuff since that'll involve more grinding.

For some reason, I feel like it would benefit me if I try to do much of the grinding before finishing the story. I'm already overpowered as it is so it doesn't really matter.

Playing and enjoying this game, but is it really easy throughout? Just got through the trials, and every boss so far has been a cakewalk. I have been doing every sidequest (can't get enough of this world)- is this going to leave me overleveled for the story? Playing on normal, of course.

Thats what I'm doing, I try to go after a side mission, if its open for me. I am 22 hours in level 26 at
Hamelin fighting the zombo's in the graveyard dungeon
and I'm about to bail out to finish missions at
fairyland

What is a good area to level up Post Game? Ivory towers are no good since i can't find enough of those Toko type enemies and haven't even seen a single gold one. The map near Peridida was good post-game but has lost the impact after 80+ level. I am already at the max level, i just want to level up my familiars.

He doesn't do that for long, that just the start of the game.

Just completed the main story, great game. I enjoyed the simple, yet charming story. Did not see much wrong with it at all.

This generation has definitely lowered my expectations for gaming stories, but while safe this one was good IMO.

ivory tower is the only place. I find tokos frequently in the hall before the last save point

Also, what tactics do you guys have for your squad. I have Esther as the healer but she doesn't really have the MP for it :/

How many levels do familiars have? 3 or 4? I cant level plast 2 for my familiars. Is it a story event?

Only the first metamorphosis of your starting Mite is a story event. All other are by gaining enough levels with a familiar. Exactly what level depends on the familiar, but every familiar can be evolved two times, first time by feeding it with a regular drop, second time with a jumbo drop.

Yeah I switched her over to heal and told Swaine to back us up...that seemed to help for Swaine but Esther still uses mana like theres no tomorrow...

Well, I guess I can snap a picture of the screen and post it later today, but I don't really have much of reason to lie or anything :)
Not sure why that should be considered anything special.

As mentioned, I did all bounty hunts, and only enough quests to get the last merit badge (the one that costs 8, which of course means all the previous rows as well).

Still, I didn't really rush through the game or anything, so I honestly have no idea why 33hours would be considered weird.

Volcano's boss is a pain in the arse.
The problem comes from the AI, who loves to run into the flams and tail onslaught of the boss. Avoiding the attacks is easy, and hitting him in the back is no difficult feat.

It's just when you switch to one person, the partner becomes an idiot and intentionally runs into flames and the monster's feet. I see now that in order to win, I'll have to change between Oliver and Esther for every single attack.

I wish this game had more intelligent AI or a gambit like system from FFXII.

Huh, what is this talk about tactics ? Is there some option I missed ? I have been playing with only all attack/all defend modes right now, lamenting the dumb AI and ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL ( Is that how harbringer say it) from time to time lol

Man, if you already think the AI is dumb that early in the game, prepare yourself for some major swearing at the AI when the game actually gets tough later >.<

Hmm that is indeed mighty fast. I did all the bounty hunts I was eligible to as well, am nowhere near finishing the game and I am almost at 40 hours lol.

Doing those
bounties for the Conductor
are a pain in the ass. Thought doing the initial run was it, leading to
him opening the door
. Didn't know another bunch came up after that. Grr.

Okay you guys win. I tried out Dinoceros and his stats are beast. I just need to up his accuracy and it's all gravy.

But then again I just have him cast earsplitter and leave.

Three. Base level - second tier - third tier (two choices).

Cool, is there someplace with that info?

Alright, I might switch swaine for that, makes sense, dealing out the buffs and debuffs. Also Strong Coffe costs so much <_<

Well in regards to length, I am bout 36 hours in and am up to the Marshes. I have done almost all the bounties and errands at this point but have not touched the solomon trials or the casino. I think I am almost at the end, no? So 33-40 hours is not that unreasonable for a quick playthrough.

It is only available during combat...switch to it with L2/R2 like you do for defend,Provisions etc and you will see the options there...I think it stays after once you set it there...

Just a quickie: make sure your familiar has learned all the spells he can before levelling him up. Also, make the most of the healing abilities of save points and cat inns.

There is quite a lot of money going around in this game but the weapons and equipment for ur familiars are very expensive sadly and make a big difference so I always bankrupt myself buying those.

Fuck the volcano. Just had to retread it for a sidequest. Looks like there are three (bugged?) monsters that do not run away, no matter the level of the player; the little bighorn, the balloon enemy and the little floating devil with the trident.

What trophy % are you guys ending up with when you complete the game?

100%. That's what completion means.

They aren't bugged. There are enemies in many areas that won't run away no matter what your level.
