Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch |OT|

This is a great game, but Esther is the worst character in gaming. Scumbag grabs all the orbs (snatches and then wastes the gold ones). Her actions are often more damaging than the enemies.

Mid game spoilers...
Haha. I don't like the theif guy. He always stands back and try's to steal stuff and shoots for 1 dmg. Come on man throw a familiar out there.

I feel like everyone's experience with AI is similar, but overall different, other than Esther using all of her damn MP... She won't stop unless I tell her to do nothing, then she literally just stands there.

I feel like
Swaine
holds his own, for me, because of the high damage familiars I gave him.

Do you get a fast travel mechanic at some point?

Yep, about 20-30 hours in, depending on how much side stuff you do. Once you finish in
Hamelin

BTW, just got the nametag ability for familiars. You have to do a chain of errands for some
monsters in an island to the southwest that can only be reached by boat, going under an arch to a beach that leads to a cave.

I wish I could feed my familiars 10 food at one time. Does the game let you do this later on by chance?

Esther keeps on dying because she keeps using magic even if it's not needed, then when it's needed she has 0 mp. What the fuck.

Ugh, I have this issue as well - I just set it to no abilities and micro manage. This game is a delight but damn some of the mechanics drag it down.

I feel like Esther's AI smooths out as you go, especially as the drongo gets more powerful. That said, she will always use a lot of MP, but she'll also go for the blue glims. My advice is to just let her have them, and it becomes surprising how long you can last through a dungeon with her still being able to cast spells. The real problem comes in boss battles during the times when glims are sparse and she runs herself completely out.

I'd also advise removing offensive magic from the drongo's trick list if you just want Esther to be a healer.

Yeah, I have set to healing and she just eats it. I wish she had Oliver level MP. Since I set her that way, I always have to give her coffee 2-3 times a boss battle.

Same. I just finished the friendship one and that was a pain in the ass for me. My brain has a hard time controlling two things moving in different directions at once.

I just moved each of them up individually a bit at a time when I could and that made it easier.

not being able to rotate the camera in motorville makes me anxious when i cross the street. i don't want oliver to get run over by a car

GTA: Ni no Kuni. :p Seriously, they'll stop for you.

I know it was hard, specially when trying to move them both at once, which I did for a while haha. Still I loved the trial of friendship it was really a fun mechanic a fresh puzzle and a bit unexpected.

I feel the same way but she's never that good, which is why I think it's better to put the little penguin familiar or whatever other magic oriented types with Oliver, since he has more MP (specially after the merit reward that unlocks his "true potential as a hero") and (since I guess most people just stick to using Oliver) allows you spend MP better, while giving the other party members melee oriented ones.

That friendship mini game can also be found in the
casino

The "move each of them up individually" trick won't work there.

I only tried it once and gave up. It was just too much. -_-

Sounds like the game just threw down the gauntlet at my feet. I need to go to the casino ASAP.

She has a better affinity with bird-types though. I set Oliver up to have mainly physical damage familiars.

Russet Isle is the one that's directly west from the Golden Grove's south exit.

The fucking Griffy is the shit. Already morphed to level 2 and hes level 12 with an attack of 150 and I havent even gone through Old Smoky yet. Hes like a four legged badass Foghorn Leghorn.

It took me awhile to get that Little Bighorned bastard tamed.

Where can the Griffy be found in-game? (Or is this that bonus one?)

DLC bonus. At this moment he just cleans house regardless of what sign the creature is. Esthers backup is the cat/monkey thing. Shit gets pummeled in seconds and I'm playing on normal.

Is there anywhere I can buy the orbs for my familiars to evolve?

I just story evolved my Mite. But now I have about 3 others that need evolution to their second forms.

Wait a little while. There's a dungeon coming up shortly where those things drop pretty frequently from enemies. As long as you're not trying to evolve 30 at a time or anything, you'll gather enough.

I just finished up Golden Grove and got to Al Mamoon and didn't have trouble yet save a few close battles in the desert where I wasn't paying attention to my HP. I'm glad I caught one of them in time because I had like 6 HP and hadn't saved in quite a while. haha

Still really digging this game.

After spending five hours on Ni No Kuni, I am starting to feel very lukewarm towards it. I have never been a big fan of Level 5 (I actually hate most of their games). I see the appeal of this game, but it is not rubbing me in the right way. Oh well, I gave it a chance. Time to sell the steelbook and game on Ebay/Amazon.

Ah okay. Guess they'll all get evolved after the volcano then.

Joke - Why did the banana refuse to join Oliver's party?
Answer - Because it had to "split".

Please with-hold your laughter. I'll be here all week.

Once you finish the Trials, talk to the Sage and trade in your tickets. I only started using him recently too. I've only begun Old Smoky, but I'm also pretty overleveled (23)

40 hours now. So much side stuff, its ridiculous. Can never run out of stuff to do I guess. Finally can get some better weapons in the snow region, holy hell they aren't cheap though.

I really hate quest 78. It's one of those typical things that require super ultra rare items that only certain super rare enemies drop very infrequently. I really wanted to do everything in the game but I can never do things like that. :l
