I'm interested in this game, but can someone please explain to me how the multiple endings work? Do I have to play the game multiple times from beginning to end or are there new areas/locations with each playthrough? Might be spoilers, but I'd like to know first before buying it eventually.

There's a mechanic in route C that I never figured out.
When playing as A2 you can hold the dodge and A2 will start to slide and glow red. Does this actually do anything? As far as I can tell it seems to be purely cosmetic.

So, in the Soul Box in the flooded city, I seem to be stuck in a loop. I keep heading to the elevator marked as the objective, but it takes me back downstairs. 9S says something along the lines of needing to explore, but I can't find anything to interact with or hack. Does anyone remember how to progress?

in route A i started Emil and jackass missions, but I didn't finish them. Now I reached the forest in route B and they didn't appear. Isn't there a way to complete them now?

If you are looking to legit 100% this game, expect to take a long time. No joke.
I can see it being done in 65hrs ish if you know in advance where everything is and precisely how to set up your character. But I can see this taking me ~90 to get this all done.
There's a not inconsiderable amount of exploration involved, and the ease by which you do that is really going to depend on your dexterity/skll/experience with Platinum style combat and movement.
Just reaching certain quests/chests in this game is going to have some people tearing their hair out!
Yeah well, I managed to do all the side quests I did fairly efficiently (missed out on two of them, I believe), and when I ran out of those I just started sprinting from story trigger to story trigger. Game is also pretty easy on normal.
Are the non-canon/joke endings worth pursuing, or are all of them like ending G (
fade to black, funny line or two of text, ff credits and back to main menu
) ? I'd love to spend as long as possible in the Nier universe, but Mass Effect is out soon, and I want to finish it, Nier and Y0 before Persona 5 is out.
e: also: collecting all weapons and upgrading them to max level, what does it do? Unlock an ending? Remember seeing someone talk about it

Just finished route A on 16:30 hours, and I feel like I just completed the tutorial. Starting route B now, let's see what crazy stuff has Yoko Taro prepared for me
I just finished Route A and until now I can't understand all the hype. The gameplay isn't that great, the story was quite boring for most of the time, the map sucks and the graphics are ok. But I really love the music and the shmups parts.
I want to see the other endings to see if it will really be such a great experience, because it's my first Yoko Taro game. But until now it's just ok or good to me.
But I think that the second playthrough could be better, because
9S seems to be the more interesting character as he is at least thinking about why some things happen and if it's the right thing to do.

Along with a bunch of "endings" if specific requirements are made. Like dying at a specific part. For example. A-D are the most substantial endings though.
Doesn't mean it's bad! But the fighting mechanics seem to be like in the last PG games, which is not particularly bad, but somehow it feels like every fight is the same for me and the boss fights were quite bad in my opinion.
The most interesting boss was
in the amusement park that "lady"
. The others seemed so 08/15 from a gameplay perspective.
Ha! It took me also just 9:11h. At some point in time I just ignored most of the side quests, because they are not really interesting and the map was super annoying.

Unless you actually save the result instead of loading when something like that happens, you lose only what you've acquired since you last saved. Since there is no auto-save, you are the one who determines what consequences you are ready to accept. If you lose shit you don't want to lose, load. You'll be spawning at the same spot anyway since the spawn point is the last place you saved at.
Stuttering seems to be a common problem in PS4, particularly when you reach max speed with 2B. It seems to get better the more you play though, or at least it feels like that for me

is there anything like in the original nier where you had to get all the weapons to get a certain ending? I'm thinking of just watching the rest on youtube or something if there's too much faffing about.

No, there isn't. One of the joke endings isn't really much of a joke and more like a side quest, you need all weapons fully upgraded to finish that side quest.
