NieR: Automata |OT| "I wouldn't expect too much from this game if I were you."

Can't wait to get there myself. Finished route A yesterday and am currently in the middle of route B. The ending of route A leaves so many questions unsolved. Some sidequests seem to hint there's something going on behind the scenes.

Haha yes mate I know what you mean. This game is such a pleasant surprise, wasnt expecting it to be as good as it is, ticks so many boxes for me.

I beat the first level/boss on PC. Damn this game is crazy awesome. I didn't like Bayonetta 1 or 2 at all but I really enjoyed revengence and transformers so I was hoping it was more of that style of platinum games. So cool! Gonna play more once my sister and her fiance go home.

Just finished route B and will be starting C tomorrow, that preview made me want to play more today though. Game is definitely game of the year for me at the moment though that could change when Persona 5 drops.

That last answer, WTF?!

He is most likely trolling. When Drakengard 3 came out and he was asked the same question, he answered that he would now be unemployed. Two years later he announced NieR:Automata and its obvious from the other interviews that he was never really unemployed.

He says in this interview that sony fired him so unless he already had the next gig waiting for him he was definitely unemployed, even if for a short period.

Edit: sorry, you were talking about the period between between D3 and NA, not the one I mentioned.

There is a quest to the left of as you exit from the resistance camp that shows on the corner of a fallen bridge.... I see nothing in any direction. What am I looking for? I am on path B if that helps.

Route C is a definite marked improvement over the rest of the game which was really good but not this good, if you ask me.

the ingredients are made from children, in the second playthrough you get a depressing back story for every meal you make.

Then the Grotesqueries (the giant babies) come back and eat the patrons of the restaurant. Fin.

He was fired back in 2000 and joined Cavia shortly after that alongside his other former Namco colleagues (Cavia was made up of former Namco people). He has definitely shifted around a lot though, he's up to now worked for Namco, Sony Japan, Cavia (AQ Interactive), Access Games, Square Enix and now Platinum Games. He must know a lot of devs now. I've seen him go out for drinks on Twitter with Fumito Ueda and Keiichiro Toyama, for example, let alone his new friendship with Hideki Kamiya and the other peeps at PG. As long as he has so many friends in the industry I think he should be okay.

Just finished up all the main endins

Wow

Really emotional and impactful game. Loved it.

Same. I'm not one to bother with side quests and giving a shit about getting a platinum, but I probably will with this one. I suspect it's going to be my GOTY. It's definitely in my top 10 of all time.

Such an amazing and unique experience. I can't stop recommending it to everyone.

Once you're in the open world and you're getting that sense of exploration in the beautiful post-apocalyptia, framed by the music, the game really started for me. The environments are shockingly diverse.

This game got very good when the robots you're slaughtering started
communicating their fears and anxieties in their rudimentary ways.
It just feels wrong in the best way.

It's not really about the combat, which is good, or the level design, which isn't really good when it becomes deliberate and linear; it's really about unraveling the unorthodox narrative, punctuated by light combat and surprisingly demanding boss fights. Every plot thread presents more questions. The music and self-aware writing make me think it's going somewhere great. It's always managed to upset expectations so far.

I don't like 2B or 9S individually, but they play off of the plot elements decently. 2B is anime cringe, but they're the perfect dupes.

Reload your save or close the game and start it up again. It's a bug, but there should be a blue flying machine that wants to race.

Man, doing every sidequest as it becomes available and expecting to be able to complete them sure got my face shoved into my ass when I accepted the
Machine Parade

I was able to complete
Father Servo
and
the level 50 canyon machine
on my first playthrough with a significant level deficit, but I was put in my place by the
peace parade
.

That one is a doozy.

I'm thinking of pre-ordering the soundtrack on amazon.jp but I see 2 seperate listings that look largely the same. Anyone can tell me what the difference is between the 2? One of them says it's 1 CD on the product details, while the other says 3 CDs, but the price is identical, so I'm guessing one of the 2 is incorrect.

The listings:
OST 1
OST 2

Do I need a special Amazon Jp account to order these. I'm thinking I definitely need this.

Yoko Taro should clearly direct Overcooked 2

If I can upgrade weapons, why should I buy new ones? Are there any benefits outside skins?

There are 4 weapon types and they have different base stats/level stats. In addition some have special skills/traits.

Swords
Heavy Swords
Spears
Gauntlets

But should I use heavy sword A over heavy sword B because it's better for something else, or just based on dmg?

That interview is maybe the first time that Yoko Taro hasn't insulted or given a backhanded compliment to the people he's working with. And then that last question. Phew, I thought something had changed.

She might be the most cliche tsundere I've ever seen in a game and the VA reflects that, for better or worse, to perfection.

I've got mixed feelings on Tuba, but she isn't really a tsundere, and definitely not a cliche tsundere.

Within the first ten minutes of the game, she is getting emotional with 9S, and you see a lot of different sides to her throughout the game - especially in sidequests.

Some of her individual lines are typical tsundere, but if that's enough to make her a stereotype, then every character ever is a stereotype.

Sounds like an android

Literally none of the others act like that.

I didn't realize there was a set timeline for a clearly outlined character arc.

She's very cold and stand-offish in the first mission and opens up slowly over the course of however long it takes you to beat it. That's classic. The following four hours, another life-cycle, and she's still shutting herself off from others as those around her become increasingly emotional and expressive.
