So now that i'm done, I'm interested in reading some philosophy. Any recommendations? (The easier the better I guess)

Just curious, how many of you are able to hear the high pitch sound the pod buried in the desert made?

Usually younger people are able to hear higher pitches than older folks, though how old and the degree always varies person to person.
Wah, I didn't hear anything at all. I just got lucky while doing a quest.

I heard a high-pitched noise in the area but it wasn't prominent enough for me to associate with the pod, which I really just stumbled upon. I'm 19.

Didn't hear anything. 33.

I already have 8 hours in this game, holy shite. For context I usually only am able to play games for like 2 hours a night and I just got this on PC yesterday. However it's midnight and my kid wakes up at like 5:30 so I will probably suffer for it.

I thought I was going to just mainline the story to see what happens but found myself doing the sidequests. However I did make the mistake of doing a bunch before unlocking fast travel.

Alright, got to the first base for the first time and about to do the weapon and merchant missions. I explored for a bit just looking for items and junk. Anyway, before I really sink my teeth in, is there anything I should know? Should I explore every chance I get? Or is there not really much reward? Should I try for all of the endings on my first go? Is there a way where I could screw something up and not be able to after a certain point? I don't understand the chip system, like, at all lol.

Also, I haven't died since the tutorial. (Died a whooooole lot there since am playing on hard mode lol whew!) I want to equip some of the preorder skins and the grimoire pod but was wandering if I could lose them if I die since I saw that you could lose all your chips?

t.

When I took philosophy in college, our professor had us read Heidegger's Being and Time and that was amazing. I'm surprised that Heidegger wasn't mentioned in the game, but considering his themes and anti-semitism...

Ricoeur is also a wonderful philosopher. One of my favorites.

Both may be quite challenging to read, the former moreso than the latter. But I always found philosophy tough.

I've been hearing that for forty hours now. How do I actually get it out though? I'm 24, by the way. My hearing is very good.

Ending C/D/E question.

Is there a data deletion situation like in the first Nier? I have this pod request at the credits and I'm kinda just letting it sit there because I haven't done everything yet.

That's exactly what it is, yes.

is it weird if the operator is my favorite character in the game so far :p
The Operators are secretly the most attractive.

Thanks! I'll give Being and Time a shot.

You can keep answering yes if you want to see where it's going with the questions, it will be really obvious when it comes to wiping your save.

If you hear a high pitch beep it should be within your area. I don't know what other items beep, but I bet there are more since they did mention something like this in an earlier interview.

I just started this game...

played 5 hours straight. It's so amazing. The graphics are not as good as in other games, especially the first open area. but the game is gorgeous somehow. Read the game lasts about 40 hours. It's pretty good I didn't read almost nothing about it so I'm practically going blind.

Since it's heavily referenced in the game I'd highly recommend Pascal's Pensées. It's a collection of small essays that are very easy to read, and it's one of my favorite books.

You should also give Nietzsche (On the genealogy of morality is a decent starting point) and Sartre (Existentialism is a humanism) a shot, as both seem to have influenced Taro.

Flooded City

Ok, Route C is fucking amazing. I didn't realize how invested I was in the characters till this route.

I really just wish Yoko Taro would make a game and a story that could be told in one play through.

i heard that noise several times and i'm a little older 30+. never knew where they came from....

I'm only four hours in, and I like it a lot so far, but the environments have just been so uninteresting to explore. Like the exploration in Nier wasn't that great either, but the architecture and world was visually very interesting, this has just been a bunch of busted up buildings and a desert so far

The next environment will definitely scratch that itch.

Ive been watching the combo videos and the creativity shown is brilliant. What weapons are these people using? I can barely get close to the skills displayed.

Holy shit, that's what that sound was? I swear I didn't hear it on PS4, I thought the PC version was just messing up lol.

Oh and I'm 30.

Just saw
Romeos and Juliets
. That was absolutely amazing, I love this game's sense of humor.

I don't think I'm gonna be needing healing items very much anymore. Currently healing 30% of max HP with every kill in addition to healing for around 10% of the damage I deal.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!

I DID IT! ALMOST!!!!

But I will do it later and probably upload a video of my success.

So, minor spoiler warning about the VERY END.

You can actually beat the credits offline, without help whatsoever. And it is not as hard as you might think it is. I mean, it is still fucking crazy hard but not that HOLY WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON CRAZY HARD as you might thought it might be.

And now I explain why that is:

So basically you take care of your deaths in the credits. Let me try to explain it.

1. If you die TOO much, the smaller words become invincible and you can only shoot the bigger words and even kill them faster but that doesn't give you anything since you can't progress any further.

2. You basically try not to die at all before you reach the first SQUARE ENIX (it's either LTD or INC), it's the first SQUARE ENIX regardless, after it comes some other big words like MARKETING & BOOK EDITING etc..

Now, here it gets interesting, because from here on out you start dying. No, seriously.

As soon SQUARE ENIX shows up you start firing it it doesn't matter if you die, because you have to die alot.

You basically get stronger everytime you die (it's either dying or shooting more enemies but I'm 99 sure it's dying. You don't get stronger everytime you die though. Only after a certain amount of deaths you become stronger. So let's say you've died enough and now SQUARE ENIX shows up, you start shooting it and it should die, just about it has shot its bullets itself.

FROM HERE ON OUT YOU STOP DYING! BECAUSE YOU WON'T GET ANY STRONGER THAN THIS!

I know... Stop dying, easier said than done...

But I'm not finished.

So, SQUARE ENIX kicks in, you shoot it fast and you focus only on the big words, only shoot them and shoot them as fast as you can, because that way you won't have to bother with the purple orbs so much.

3. After you reached the second SQUARE ENIX and even sometime before that you stay in the corner, in the bottom right corner or near the upper right corner and keep shooting to the left, because many little words appear and they come from above and you have to kill them fast because otherwise you can't shoot them because their bullets block your bullets.

4. My control layout is that you shoot with L1 (because I have evade on R1) and pod programs on L2 and R2.

5. You only focus on YOUR SHIP and the PURPLE ORBS among you. as you stay on the right border you don't have to bother with orbs behind you and you don't have to bother with the yellow orbs because you just shoot them away. Seriously. DON'T BOTHER WITH YELLOW ORBS AT ALL. Just focus on the purple bastard.

6. My english isn't perfect but I hope you get the idea.

I'm playing offline always, that's why I put myself to the challenge. This segment of this game is FUCKING HARD and I will do it alone and try to record it. So stay tuned and good luck yourself!

Does the game make it very clear when you're going into a main story mission that locks you out of side quests? I feel like I need to progress the story to unlock zones for some side missions but I'm worried I'll be locked out of other side missions.

Just bought the game and I absolutely love 2B's design, I can't remember the last time I saw one that was memorable in the industry for me. This is how you design an attractive and badass videogame lady. Actually a reason why I could never play Bayonetta.

No, so I'll just tell you - don't mess around with the missile pad in the Flooded City until you're ready to move on. Of course, you will get to finish any sidequests you didn't complete on your next playthrough.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Incorporating "This cannot continue" into the music gave me legit fucking chills

I'm sad I didn't notice it until someone pointed it out. I was in voice chat with friends during that fight so I couldn't hear it well.
