Would you mind doing a pastebin of your reshade ini? I'd love to try out your settings

About the screen detection, i 'solved' it by going into Nvidia control panel, and disable display scaling + override scaling mode, and in your monitor hardware menu, chose 1:1 to also disable its scaling. Playing it in fullscreen + vysnc, so far so good at 2560*1440@60hz
No 16:10 support though, i get black bars no matter if i use 1440p or 1600p, so i chose 1440p on my 16:10 monitor.
Haven't kept up with either version. If I have a 290x/4670k and a Pro should I just get it on PS4 then?Reading through this thread makes me sad. Guess I'll just hold off and get it when I get a pro.

I gave this a shot, no dice, it still forces me to 1920x1440 when I select 2560x1440, now I just get black bars around the image.
On the plus side those issues I was having earlier with the tanking framerate appears to have been mitigated. Could have been the above, or me disabling adaptive VSync in Nvidia Control panel.
Strange though, in the place it was having trouble before now I'm getting what seem to be black frames very briefly. No more than a couple of them, but noticeable, and only in that area for some reason.

Is it just me or does 1080p fullscreen looks blurry compared to 1080p windowed?
Also if I use windowed, performance is worse so I gotta play with blur :/
970 and i5 4690k, framerate is mostly solid 60 with some drops here and here but the blur really annoys me ( yes I turned it off in the settings )
Sure. It's still a work in progress but I don't want to be one of those people who don't share their presets.

Here's another comparison shot using my latest tweaks. I'm pleased with the AO and AA quality.

The game has a bug (I'm assuming) where it renders at 900p if you select fullscreen. In windowed mode, it renders at the resolution you specify.
ReShade injection made the difference...although my TitanXP barely keeps it at 30 fps @ 4K with ReShade on...
And you can notice the map error AO has caused...
How do you know it is outputting 1920x1440 btw?
Try to use aspect ratio scaling instead of no scaling as the previous mentioned. Aspect ratio also worked for me.
Make sure you tick override scaling mode set by games and programs in the CP. And also go into your monitor menus and see where its option to display 1:1 is. Dont let your monitor scale.
By black borders, what do you mean? All sides?
My black bars are on the top and bottom since im on a 16:10 monitor.

You should atleast be on par with Pro there, but don't take my word for it.
THis game seriously should not take as many resources as it does. Just based on how it looks on my base PS4, i kinda expect 1080p 60fps there, let alone on Pro or you guy's far more powerful PC builds
I mean it runs fine on base PS4 and looks decent enough, but the graphics arent pushing anything at all(seriously this looks the same as Bayonetta, MGSR and every other platinum game graphically from last gen) and the enemy count, while more than those other games, still dont count for the disparity...there's usually almost nothing going on in the same way the setpieces of bayo 1 and 2 or MGSR to even justify it really
Especially with Metal gear solid 5 at 1080p 60fps on base PS4 and looks far better

What is your setup again? And how is your performance at what resolution?
What settings do you have in game?
- ASUS Z170-A motherboard
- i7 6700K (overclocked to 4.6GHz)
- ASUS Strix GTX 1080
- 64GB DDR4 RAM
- 1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD
Running everything maxed out at 1440p except AO and AA are disabled in game. Instead I'm using Reshade's superior AO and AA shaders (MXAO/SMAA/FXAA). Rock solid 60fps @ 2560x1440 Fullscreen and/or Windowed @ 3440x1440 (using the Borderless Gaming utiltiy). BUT if I try running it Windowed @ 3440x1440 with Reshade enabled it causes the frame rate to dip. Currently my preference is 2560x1440 with Reshade enabled because I want a locked 60fps.
how do you add that reshade to your game? any 'tutorial' or whatnot?
Crap. I have pretty much the same setup but I am playing on a 3440x1440 screen and fullscreen is bugged for me and makes the game look like poop in comparison to borderless gaming.
Really hope they fix this fullscreen bug or whatever it is. This is annoying.
- create a new text document called "Nier Reshade Prest.ini" (I know, I spelled preset wrong)
It's pretty simple. Just go to the Reshade web site and download it. Also check out the forums to familiarize yourself with it.
Basically:
- download Reshade 3.0.6
- double-click the setup utility (ReShade_Setup_3.0.6.exe)
- click 'Select game'
- select the games executable file (in this case NieRAutomata.exe)
- click the Direct3D 10+ button
- create a new text document called "Nier Reshade Prest.ini" (I know, I spelled preset wrong)
- copy and paste the text from the link I posted on pastebin into the document
- save it to your game directory (same folder as NieRAutomata.exe)
- start the game and you should be good to go (fingers crossed)
- Pressing Shift+F2 in game brings up the Reshade menu so you can tweak the settings to your own preference.
I was having the same problem earlier too. The resolution wasn't scaling properly and as a result it was rendering at a much lower resolution. It eventually got fixed somehow but I can't say for sure how.

My system isn't far off this. How do these settings compare to the base PS4 version? It's sounding like I should just go with the console version. Here's something to laugh at for you power PC players. Old GTX750ti, 8gb, i5-4460 results in:
~40 fps 1600x900 low settings
~20 fps 1920x1080 with everything turned on and up
Actually surprised it runs at all, the base setting is adequate if you have no other option. I have it on PS4 already. What I can't do on PS4 is turn it all up (framerate be damned) and get extra clean, nicely anti-aliased stills of 2...I mean, of the action and the environments.
I went in expecting this at best, just supporting Nier Day 1 and if whim dictates a powerful new card, it'll be there. Playing it now still on PC.
Add: fwiw, not one crash over several hours
So yeah, whenever I use Borderless Gaming to play on my 180p TV screen (Display 2) I crash after like 30 minutes. Well, it just freezes on a frame but you can still hear stuff going on behind it, like menus and footsteps and attacks.

Apparently (according to the Steam Forums) the issue I'm having (freezing the frame but still having the game go on behind it) is related to the GTX780 and 780Ti.
I think you just ran into a shitty scripting bug, fam.
From the end of the boss, 2B is on the Bunker as you said. You talk to 9S and thank him for helping you. Then it cuts to some background story stuff and you do a settings tutorial (adjust brightness and stuff). After, you get up and you should have an objective marker pointing you towards the commander and then pointing you to the hanger afterwards. There should definitely be people up in that room with the commander and those intel stations in all the other rooms should be shops.
You say you've gone though the prologue twice now and still have this issue? Have you tried verifying game files?
Notes:
- If I try to click on the Settings from inside the game (rather than from the menu), it just kicks me back to the game. Settings do not work.
- There are no active quests of any kind under the Quests menu.
Hard for me to believe I'm the only one experiencing this, but here we are.
Have you tried saying no to the network connect prompt?
I did not. Reinstalling now. I'll try that on the next restart from scratch (the prompt only comes up if I start the game over again).
