Are you talking about the game or real life now.

The more I think on it, yea, this is definitely my frontrunner for GOTY/GOTG, because this game is still on my damn mind.

Likewise.
Witcher 3 blew away all my expectations and was my hands-down favorite this gen, so I'm waiting until this has had time to stew in my mind. But yeah, it's gaining very fast.

Has anyone seen the second elevator down in the Underground Lake area? Is that accessible at all or is it like the apologetic robot doors that are tied to some later DLC?

Really? I couldn't even interact with it, red light at all.
It can be activated from the bottom and then it can be rode either way. If you chapter select, you reset the elevator and have to activate it again from the bottom. I've yet to see a situation where the bottom button couldn't be operated.

Oh, a thing I was meaning to ask about.

If you visit the factory again for 21O's data quest, 9S and his pod talk about how the factory was once used to create large humanoid robot weapons before the war.

So was the factory making Beepy?

You can find a memo in a locked chest later in the factory that basically states it was manufacturing P-22 models at some point. Beepy was a P-33, so it makes sense that the factory would also be used to make more advanced robots some time after that memo.

i can't get emil to sell me those weapons I'm missing :(

Get him to crash his cart when he's rolling right past the resistance camp.

I've only ever gotten him to sell weapons when he's on the concrete ramp directly below the entrance to the camp, to the left when you exit the camp. If you shoot him before he reaches there, his crashing animation will end up 'on the ramp.'

He has different routes. Reset/rezone until he takes that route.

Just beat the game again. I absolutely love the last three endings. I love them soooo much. Time to start a new playthrough, this time from scratch and in hard mode. That's how good this game is. I've beaten it twice and I still wanna keep playing. I don't know how good P5 is, but it's gonna have to work hard to make me forget about this game.

I'm having trouble getting him to spawn near the resistance camp, I've never seen him there :(

Oh, I know about that elevator. It lets me get back up to the surface. I mean the other elevator at the very bottom guarded by two machines with electrified shields.

I'm trying to do to the Emil secret boss thing and I can't get it to trigger.

Do you have chapter select yet?

17-1, go talk to Emil and buy something to 'reset' the flag which doesn't work after chapter select, save and load at the Resistance Camp until he goes on the route near the camp.

Otherwise he'll just do donuts forever near the Desert entrance.

Persona 3 is a top ten for me and Persona 4 is a top 3 and yet my Persona 5 will be here in 2 days and I'm barely even excited because of NieR. I know I'm gonna love the hell out of 5, tho. It'll def be something I'm gonna dive into hard. Just gotta beat this NieR hole i'm in

Are you playing as 9S? You have to be 9S to trigger it.

Talk to Emil first, and he'll talk about you visiting him at his house. Then go there and the door will be open.

And yeah, you'll want to be 9S as you'll need to open a locked chest to trigger the boss. I'll be doing this fight tonight or tomorrow as well.

Yup, I was 9S when I went into the cave and the door behind those two robots is always red. I've even cleared the cave of every single enemy to make sure that wasn't the thing causing them problem.

Alright, I'll try this.

Yea, talk to Emil first. It's so annoying...

I'm in the same boat. I picked up P3P on a whim when it first came out and it really set the bar for me on what to expect from RPG storytelling, then I got Persona 4 and man I never looked back lol. I have no doubt Persona 5 will be awesome because Hashino is one of my game director idols, but it's hard to get super excited after NieR Automata. It's like in the back of my head I know it won't affect me the same way, but it really doesn't have to. Persona in general has always taken a completely different exploration of the human condition.

It'll be fun later this year to just think back on this game after the dust has settled. Assuming I don't replay it several more times after P5 :)

When I beat it I felt legit sad and empty. I anticipated the game for years and I don't want to let it go. I remember that awesome E3 when they announced all this cool stuff like Last Guardian and Shenmue 3 and Nier Automata.was easily the most exciting to me. I actually got a little emotional during the reveal where they play a version of the song Grandma.

Lol, this is kinda how I feel, though I haven't played a Persona game before. But then ya hear talk about this is the king of JRPGs nowadays and what not, and I'm like, shit, it's like I'm being forced to compare it to this game and see if it's better than Nier (Though we all do that in general when deciding GOTYs and such lol, and I'm gonna compare Nier to everything anyhow), even though I'm fairly sure I'll love P5. It does seem to be a more polished package, but at the same time I'm like "Ain't nothing this year topping highs like Ending E for me, but let's see lol"

Loved their text adventure style story. The beautiful backgrounds, music, text scrolling sounds, and of course the touching story all made it a really cool experience.

I'm really glad I knew about their roles from the first game, it meant that much more to me as a result.

The fakeout "you gotta fight Devola and Popola to access the final level" bit was great.

I like how 9S cowered for a bit lol

Btw, did anyone else trip here like this? I thought it was neat that while you were trying to rush to your brother, they coded in a fall animation.

Ugh that part hit me hard. 9S's commentary after watching this, "Doesn't matter how much oil you give him little guy, you can't make a machine your brother" is such a gut punch.

1) We just got done with 2B fighting Eve, who went berserk because we killed his brother, so we already know better and know this comment is going to bite him in the butt.
2) 9S ends Route B diving into Eve's head and finding out just how deep and complex his feelings for his brother really run, making him question his entire worldview.
3) Not to mention, 21O wants 9S to be her little brother.

I know it's probably obvious but I can't help but be impressed with the layers upon layers for every little thing in this story.

i hate that im going to play a fucking mobile game. fuck you guys and fuck yoko taro

I'm expecting something like Fallen London's Seeking Mr. Eaten's Name storyline:

RockPaperShotgun said:
As for Fallen London itself, it’s a browser-based game set in the city and various other parts of the Neath, with your goal being to create a character at the bottom of society and quickly rise to the prominence that your brilliance demands. That’s done by playing through stories, grinding a lot of abstract concepts like whispered secrets into higher value items, and slowly levelling up stats like Dangerous and Shadowy as you move between better and better Lodgings and become the talk of the town. At this point, players unlock a Destiny, which is essentially a glimpse of what will happen once all else has played out – their character’s ultimate, world-changing ending seen in dream form now, allowing for the actual game to continue as long as necessary.

Seeking Mr Eaten’s Name is about taking all of that hard work and willingly flushing it down the toilet for no particularly good reason except sheer bloody-mindedness and curiosity. One of its most famous stories, before it went on hiatus a few years ago, involved a player who reached a nightmare version of Mrs Plenty’s Carnival, featuring a big wheel that headed up to the light of the Surface. Despite what some players believe, it is actually possible for people from the Neath to survive on the surface – it’s just risky, and becomes more so the longer they’ve been down there. Here though, the informative text just warned that riding the Big Wheel would kill their character dead. D-E-D, dead. Game over dead, which isn’t usually possible. It even promised that there was no interesting text waiting behind the decision. It was an option not worth taking.

tl;dr: spend months/years building your character, amassing a fortune, making friends, and just generally investing yourself into the game, then slowly start burning it all to the ground in order to learn a dead NPC's name that the game repeatedly tells you will not be satisfying or in any way validate the sacrifices you make.
