Ninja Gaiden 4 Announced - Published by Xbox Games Studios (Fall 2025 on Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5)

Xbox games studios means no big busty babes this time around, right?

Still, it's cool to see this series return, I was wondering if we'd ever get a 4 and sure enough...

Something about this i wasn't really digging. The graphics looked very indieish i felt the ng2 remake looked better. The wall running, grinding parts and especially the sliding down what looked like bridge breaking apart looked really bad. As long as the combat holds up its a moot point I guess

They might have kept the boobs here being a remake of an old game and they felt like they had to, but in creating new characters are they going to feel the same?

Still, it's great to see they didn't censor II, so here's hoping.

Xbox Games Publishing =/= Xbox Games Studio

Nobody from the publisher would be in Platinum’s offices dictating breast sizes.

Best gaming announcement in very long time.
Love the return/continuation of NG2's gore.

So much for all the constant online dumping on Xbox - im seeing lots of actual great games from their studios and coming to the platform.

And that surprise NG2 Black is just too cool. One of the all time great action games.

Most excited I’ve been for games in a long time. My favorite genre is alive and kicking ass. Stealth NGIIBlack and this! Wow! Also…Onimusha: Way of the Sword & Elden Ring: Nightrein.

Last dream announcement is Konami letting Platinum bring us Rising Revengeance 2 next!!

I would have preferred this reboot just focused on Ryu. After they did him so dirty in NG3 our boy has to come back in a big way.
This new ninja character looks like some hipster emo garbage, I also didn't see different weapons. The gameplay looks fine, though I think they are focusing a bit too much on traversal. Ninja Gaiden is always about brutal difficulty and making you feel like a glass-cannon killing machine providing you are skilled enough.
Also getting a lot of revengeance vibes from the trailer and gameplay reveal.
Personally from what I saw they will likely not be able to reproduce the magic of NG1/NG2, but it will at least be better than NG3 (though admittedly that's quite a low bar).

That was the best thing about NG3, playing as some of the hot ninja girls from DOA. But we ain’t getting that here it seems. Just some new dude who looks boring. In this case I would rather just Ryu. Probably will not care if the gameplay is good (and the game in general) and they make me like the new character. Platinum not adding hot ninja girls considering Nier Automata and Bayonetta is strange.

Ok…Yosuke Hayashi has not announced their game yet, or their new AAA studio.

I think we got both of the 30th anniversary surprises from Fumihiko Yasuda though.

Exciting that Koei Tecmo is actually investing money in their studios. Saw somewhere they added 500 employees last year. Hopefully their AAA studios move to UE5, which seems like they are doing for NG4

Whilst it might be a great action game, it doesn’t look like a Ninja Gaiden game.

It looks more like Metal Gear Rising than Ninja Gaiden.

Depends on the parry. After watching the footage again I've noticed that they are trying to make two different styles of gameplay. The new protagonist's gameplay is slower, camera is further back, and the action/moveset has a certain pacing to it, Platinum-style.

Ryu's gameplay on the other hand had a somewhat closer camera, his moves were naturally faster (without needing special moves), and his moveset seemed like the older games.

Switching back and forth between these gameplay styles could be jarring, but I hope they pull it off.

Yep nice one, this is where the gameplay looks off. The pulled up camera and the extended flashy effects and counters

NG1/2 was all about efficient combat, you take out the enemies or they do you in.

I hope they do the ryu parts more, i dont need another raiden rising.

I thought Yakumo/Raven was a female ninja but it looks like I'm wrong.

Glad they made a comeback but the tralier did not impress me at all
Graphics look bland even if you need to keep lower details for higher framerate.
Gameplay doesn't show anything "new"
Camera looks to be very far from main character, makes the game look more Nier than NG2 (Maybe that's Platinum Influence)
Not to mention cutscenes wich makes "Steel on Bone" effect, wich was atrocious

I've seen NG4 and NG2 trailers in fast sequence before writing this, NG2 gives back an Energy that NG4 has not at least in this trailer
Well see in next exam session

I'd rather have a Ninja Gaiden 4 than no Ninja Gaiden. HOWEVER, the game looks worse in the gameplay and graphic part than the remake they just released today LOL. Platinums talent also has left.

Is just me or they are doing the DMC4 kind of same storyline..... New character yakuma (Nero) and for some reason he thinks that Ryu (Dante) is a bad guy but actually is the opposite???

From the trailers and having played a bit of NG2B, yes NG4 looks kinda meh, the remaster looks way better.

Wow so this is actually an Xbox exclusive??

Edit: nvm, saw its also coming to PS5. Would have been an amazing get for Xbox considering Phil himself made it happen

The last game in the franchise I played was the trilogy on the SNES. I'm watching Asmon play II Black right now and I like what I'm seeing. This trailer doesn't seem much better in terms of graphics and gameplay, am I missing something? It could also be because I prefer this aesthetic over the cyber look.

I'm also excited about this game since I love Ninja Gaiden series, but too be honest, for me, base on the trailer the visuals of Stellar blade looks much better even if it's just using an old engine UE4. Hopefully it improves.

I'm surprised that basically no one has called out how much this game looks like MGR: Revengeance 2. It even features a massive, Zandatsu-like parry-into-slicing move, FFS. Had you shown me the first 75% of that trailer without showing me the title, I would've 100% thought this to be a spiritual successor to Revengeance.

Now, don't get me wrong: Revengeance and NG(2) are two of my favorite games of all time, and I've wanted proper sequels to them for ages, so this should theoretically be my dream game. But I would much rather have a proper Ryu Hayabusa sequel or a full Revengeance 2, rather than this Franken-game.

I'll still be there day one, of course. I'm just sad it isn't a "real" Ninja Gaiden 4 — that twink can do one.

I am grateful we are even getting a Ninja Gaiden 4. I thought we would NEVER see this game again. I rather Platinum who is known for making great action games develop or collaborate with this over the majority of other developers out there. Hopefully it will turn out well.

Are we, though?

That's my entire point: it feels more like we're getting Revengeance 2 doing bad Ninja Gaiden cosplay. You can't just call something Ninja Gaiden and then say "see, we're giving you what you want!".

Also, calling it now: the Hayabusa bits from the trailer will in total be, like, one introductory chapter in the entire game.

Splitting hairs: the post.

Splitting hairs!? Tell me you've never played these games without telling me you've never played these games.

Despite them both being character action games, MGR and NG are vastly, vastly different games. Would you call it "splitting hairs" if they released a new DOOM game that actually played almost identically to Halo, and people started understandably complaining about it?

Sorry friend, I was a bit drunk when I read your post and I thought it was more negative than it was lol. I played all NG games and MGR is my favorite action game of all time and I understand where you’re coming from. I just didn’t see much similarities here, in fact I don’t think it looks like NG or MGR.

Platinum, whatever is left of it, always make different feeling action games, like I don’t think there’s much overlap in their catalog aside from stuff like the Transformers game. Even the Bayo games are all unique when compared to each other. They have similar mechanics, but they never feel samey, so I doubt this will play like MGR.

No harm, no foul.

That said, you don't think that big red attack thing looks exactly like a Zandatsu?

Kind of, but without blade mode it would feel very different. I'm interested to see if it's a finish or a move you do after a parry or something like that. The enemy's red tell reminds me of Automata more than anything lol.

Modern Ninja Gaiden games have always had pretty uninteresting soundtracks. This will probably be an area of improvement with platinum involved.

My hope is this will be closer to NG1 and NG2 and not the Ninja Dog NG3. I love the OG Bayonetta, so I'm optimistic Platinum Games can pull it off.

I’d like to be optimistic, but really how much talent is left at platinum? They seem to have been on their deathbed for a long time now and venting staff.

Platinum is an empty shell at this point. Though they did start with this project quite a few years ago.

I just hope it won't be about slow mo and their other typical gimmicks. I like how NG never dealt with that shit.

That's my worry as well.

I like what I saw of the Ryu gameplay, but not so sure about the cyber Ninja new guy.

One thing that I'll need to play before I know I like it or not, is that the camera seems to be pulled further back than the NG and NG2, I don't remember if NG3 was pulled back as much.
I guess it's good to be able to keep track of enemies easier, but also kind of takes you out of that intimate violence that NG and NG2 has.

I’m also worried I’m too old for ninja gaiden 🤣…my skills aren’t what they once were. I can methodically fudge my way through souls games still, with a bit of cheese here and there, but I recall gainen having a much higher skill barrier.
