I just always assumed the 27th was a Tuesday! Guess I'll do free shipping and wait a million days :(
Overnight shipping will get it to you on Tuesday, and is probably cheaper than your local sales tax. Maybe pretend it does launch on Tuesday, and you'll be set?

What kind of shipping are you guys doing?

In-store. So uh, I'll get it in and be able to play it on the 22nd March. Won't be able to take it home until the 25th though!

That's what I did, and I will most likely be terribly sick the date it's out for delivery, so I'll have to call off work.

Look ! There is the proof. You see this 5.x Million Unit gap till the 30 Million ?
That are the systems that Nintendo is holding back to create artificial shortage.

I know you're joking, DNF, but I wanted to chime in on the "Artificial Shortage" observation.

The story I heard about the Wii shortage in the States made a lot of sense. At the time, the Euro was very strong against the Yen. So Nintendo was shipping tons over to Europe to really cash-in on demand there. So while North Americans had an extremely hard time finding units, the Europeans were soon drowning in them. I remember reading multiple posts from Euro-forum-goers to the effect of "I can go to the local Asda (or GAME or whatever) and they have tonnes on the shelf," in response to we Americans whining about unavailability. Once the Euro market was saturated, they finally started sending adequate supply to the States.

One day. Only 10 bucks and since I'll still be saving money (no tax) I said why not.

Lucky you. Whether I choose One day or Free shipping it might not make much of a difference for me since I'll be shipping it to forwarding address in NY then have to wait about a week to receive it (in Jordan)... and I have to pay tax!

Wii's were available more easily in Europe sooner but I'd never say in the first year or so that we were drowning in them it was very on and off availability, I'd say the main difference was that if a store got a delivery in the us they'd be sold out in hours or even minutes where as in the uk it might have taken a couple of days

They also think it's green.

Green is weighted heavier in perception than other colours while blue is weighted lighter, and you do have 3 different hues on that thing.

And as some poster said it's more torquoise, of which the perception as bluish or greenish and be very individual since it's a borderline colour :p

If you were color blind and writing a review of a product, wouldn't you take that into account? Anyway I don't think the author is color blind.

You know, the whole thing about pretending "videogames" and "journalism" can go together.

well it does look green under some flashlight photos maybe he had some strange yellow light around

Aqua Blue sounds like Aquamarine or Blue-Green or Turquoise but I would not just call it green :D

OH NO WHAT WILL WE DO I BETTER CANCEL MY PREORDER NOW

It's Engadget, dude.

Pretty much. If its not made by apple or google, then its not going to get much attention or praise.

I would like to know how the second week (or first full week) of 3DS sales went in Japan. How long until we get some hints?

Actually I thought it was quite positive for being from Endgadget, they really dislike gaming (or perhaps just Nintendo products).

I'm sure the NGP will fair much better with them

Gamekult wrote graphics were between wii and HD versions, and it's easy to confirm with this video :)))

It's a shame online is missing from this version, but I'm weak. I need this game.

I'm surprised at the lack of online titles for launch. PES 11, Ridge Racer and Madden should all have online.

Online adds a fuckton of extra dev and QA time. Expecting it from rushed launch games is too much.

The color temperature of tungsten lights (ie. standard lightbulbs) tends to make blue objects look greenish.
Reviewers need to get out more.

The problem is when these games sell poorly because of a lack of features, the publishers will declare that 3rd party games don't sell on Nintendo platforms.

When was the last time a Madden was released for the DS?

I still don't see how you can rate a system until it has run its lifespan.

I remember back in the day when EGM used to have their end of the year buyers guide and they rated all the systems on a yearly basis. I miss that. Somebody should start that practice up again.

Missing OS features needed to be updated via fw and a color promised not being released. 7/10 for ya there.

Oh wait what did they give iPhone 4 :p

meh who cares for an Engadget review

Can you imagine if all 3 of these had online? Combined with Street Fighter, that would have been a whole lot of win. And a hell of a start for 3DS online as a whole.

That makes sense. When emulating DS games, it must load an emulator before it starts loading the game.

I didn't realize the DS was emulated. Is there any known incompatibility that usually comes with emulation? Even the PS2 and PS3 had a very small list of incompatible games.

Where's the chart from?

Loading times from when to when? From power on to first visuals onscreen, I really don't think 999 takes 8 seconds to load, and I don't remember any other load times during the game.

It isn't necessarily emulated, could just be the time it takes to shut down the OS (home screen doesn't work, right?) and power off all advanced 3DS features before switching into legacy mode.
