I guess this is still the best video overall (sorry, can't find a direct youtube link on my iPad):

you don't lose the 3d illusion when you look down at the touch screen, you just aren't staring directly at it. it will still appear to be in 3d. your brain doesn't have to rejuggle things because your eyes are still seeing an image each. it's when you lose that, and it resets to 'flat' on the top screen that you have the period of adjustment which takes effort and puts a bit of strain on your eyes.gofreak said:I'm not sure what Amir0x's post had to do with strain caused by looking at different screens.
But you do realise that if you accept strain can be caused by losing and regaining focus on the 3D, then logically you must accept that strain can be caused by looking at the 2D screen and looking back again? Both are different contexts of the same effect - losing the 3D and refocusing on it.

i find the bumper cam annoying when you're drifting. if you're driving a real car and you're drifting you'll be looking down the track to see when you need to come out of it, and if you have to avoid other cars etc, rather than staring at a wall three feet away.gkryhewy said:Another Ridge Racer video. We're gonna have to wait a good year before we see a rendition of this again.sasimirobot said:really? nobody has posted this yet?

since when has it been about watching a wall slide sideways past you quickly?gkryhewy said:That's a good point, but since when has RR been about driving a real car? definitely a matter of preference. I just love the sense of speed that bumper cam affords.

I will be very, very interested in seeing how many people have the 3D turned off three or four months from now if it's proven to save battery life/improve performance.Amir0x said:but real life is 3D and so is lenticular cards how is this possible they're the same thing!
I'm just so glad Nintendo put in that slider. Worthless feature that 3D, especially when you combine it with the performance upgrades some games have or the fact that if you didn't utilize 3D the games would look better across the board.

sasimirobot said:that is interesting. but for sure when people show off the 3ds to family/friends/coworkers/etc..., 3D will be on. Riding a train from Mongolia to Vietnam not so much...
Unless there a game breaking problem with not using 3D, then yeah, why not save battery life until a revision or better battery.
But really. PSP2 vs. 3ds show a friend=wow factor. will always be in favor of Nintendo.
grafix only go so far on such small screens, and as game nerds we are the only people that would masterbate to pixels as is...
Chances are you could plug it in on that train. Heck, there are even electrical outlets on most long plane trips these days.sasimirobot said:that is interesting. but for sure when people show off the 3ds to family/friends/coworkers/etc..., 3D will be on. OLED screen is drool worthy I still think there are enough hardcore FPS fans who will see it as the thing to own. I will be the gamer's portable but like the Wii the 3DS may have everyone else and grandpa too on faceraiders
I still say Sony has a chance to take the win this time but they need to come out swinging no later than September in Japan or the 3DS lead will be too much
No online multiplayer, annoyingly.Hero of Legend said:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmPyFG-mi9w
Looking at this vid of RR, I'm actually impressed, despite the lame menus.
I'm out of the loop in features and the technical jab, is it in 60 frames and does it have Wi-Fi (I may recall hearing that it doesn't, but I'm uncertain)?
Is there a site that covers all the details and impressions of the final games in people's hands?
Haha, I have a white Go, but that should work just fine. One sec.Smiles and Cries said:donkey show you have a white PSP don't you?
can you do the PSP AR Grave scene for us?
With this huge of a head-start and the hype surrounding the 3DS, Sony will need nothing short of a miracle to come out on top.Smiles and Cries said:I still say Sony has a chance to take the win this time but they need to come out swinging no later than September in Japan or the 3DS lead will be too much

Well, if you get the right adapter...sasimirobot said:been to China recently? unless the 3ds runs on tobacco fumes good luck
people have already posted that they have no problem doing this. i haven't seen anyone complaining of issues with it, and given that a number of games are using the touchscreen for input or important information we'd have heard by now if it was an issue i'm sure, just as we have heard of people having issues with tilting the system and losing the 3d that way and experiencing various eye strain and such.gofreak said:I don't think it's just about light reaching your eyes peripherally, but chiefly about your brain's point of focus in an image. And you will lose that when you're focusing on something else - be it another screen, or whatever. Refocusing should logically carry that 'context switch' you have when you lose the 3D for other reasons. But someone with a 3DS who has a concious knowledge of what it feels to 'lose the 3D' could confirm whether it happens when you look away to the touchscreen (while keeping the top screen in your peripheral vision), but I would guess logically it's the same.

Seriously look at that shit. I will be so early to Fred Meyer.
With this huge of a head-start and the hype surrounding the 3DS, Sony will need nothing short of a miracle to come out on top.
A miracle that I'm willing to bet will be taken out back and shot when they announce the price at E3.
