Thanks man! That periscope scene with the storm looked fantastic. I'm pressing the preorder button now. ^^neo2046 said:edited
Same here. Though the first-person & cockpit views might be awesome in 3D.Dreamwriter said:What's with all these first-person Ridge Racer videos? Am I the only one who hates playing racing games that way, and wants to see the car I'm driving?
Ages better. You feel more in control as your thumb rests nicely in the concave part of the slide pad. Doesn't feel as mechanical as the nub and is very smooth in comparison.Eteric Rice said:How is the slider in comparison with the PSP's thumb pad? I'm playing Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and it's hard to keep snake moving slow with the PSP pad.
Actually, to be honest, the controls for this game are extremely wtf.

They're not even close. The 3DS pad trounces the PSP nub on every level.Eteric Rice said:How is the slider in comparison with the PSP's thumb pad? I'm playing Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and it's hard to keep snake moving slow with the PSP pad.

I can't do racing games in third person. The reason why is when I'm turning my car, I find it hard to gauge exactly what angle I need to be at to make the best line through the turn (when I'm looking at the side of my car, I'm not seeing exactly where it's headed). If I could lock the camera to the rear of the car that would be better but most games don't let you do that.Dreamwriter said:What's with all these first-person Ridge Racer videos? I love that you can unlock items for your Miis with those games.Vic said:StreetPass Quest/Puzzle footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caf9XH2r1HQ

Outside of that, no.

Since I'm in NYC, I'll probably walk around Times Square more often, or even go to Rockefeller Center more (where tourists and Nintendo World are) if I want to get some StreetPass action.Eteric Rice said:Possibly in American schools where lots of kids are.

Hmm. Anyone else notice that all, it seems anyway, of the RR videos are of the same track? I wonder if the video makers are trying not spoil things or is it hard to unlock new stages?Vic said:Awesome Time Trial run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-8VcWWn_Oc

You started some thread at DICE about how Bethesda didn't want to be on Nintendo platforms or something. I think you mistyped "I think it's retarded" and ended up with that tag - possibly forever.Eteric Rice said:I don't even remember where I got it from.
GDGF said:Depends on how populated your city is. Savannah, GA has three main colleges/universities, a bunch of malls and mini malls, and we're big on tourism so the Downtown area is always packed. Streetpass is going to work fine for me
Oh snap. A fellow Savannahian! See what I mean?

As big as the DS/DS lite screens? Smaller?

For all the people in Shibuya, I've gotten all of 1 person on StreetPass per visit. It's more effective to stand at a station exit or walk through a train that's not too crowded, but most or all of the seats are taken. I'll have to try Akiba this weekend.
Eurogamer said:The moment you get to play with the squirrel suit in Pilotwings Resort is magical.[...]the suit comes out, and suddenly you're diving straight towards the centre of Wuhu's volcano while the game snaps into keen focus around you. The scenery suddenly seems sharper, the playfully-used 3D is transformed into the perfect tool for judging your descent, and the rings no longer represent a gentle muddle of objectives, but rather a micro-surgically precise arrangement of targets for you to lance through.
[...]the 3D effect is really excellent. Your head-up display stands out from the screen, the mountains disappear towards the horizon, and your craft feels like a little die-cast toy suspended in the foreground. The illusion of depth is surprisingly useful when it comes to judging distance in some of the more precise challenges, and sitting down with the console held steadily in front of you, the image doesn't separate very often either.
I tend to be happiest with the 3D slider set around the halfway mark, although I suspect it's different for everyone, and the game remains entirely playable and bright and attractive if you view it in standard 2D. In case you're worried about your own eyes, it's worth noting that I have trouble with 3D stuff at the cinema and I could see Pilotwings' tricks and tweaks perfectly.
[...]for more elderly players, it's nice to see that the spirit of the SNES survives. As an updating of an old favourite, this is a lovely piece of work; as a friendly shoving-off for a strange new handheld, it's wonderfully judged.
