I bet you that Nintendo didn't.

They're launch titles, and most of them are shoddy ports.

It's honestly not all that surprising. Give it a little time before you start worrying too much.

Update adds '3D movie' Channel to the home screen, just the one video for now. 2 minutes long.

It's the great performance from Nintendo World 2011! in 3D! Pretty epic.

Now add the rest of the performances!

Well, it's mah birthday really soon and 3DS is in consideration for a gift.

Only problem is, none of the launch games seem interesting at all, and I don't really feel like spending another 30 euros on a game.

Does anybody know if the 3DS comes with a demo cartridge like the original DS did?

Not a demo cartridge, but it's packed with preinstalled stuff.

Cool, at least the notifications work. Shame that it doesn't seem to do it while playing DS games though.

Here's hoping that they change it so that they eventually make updates download and install automatically. Would be really cool to open up the 3DS and just see the new channel just sitting there!

this is what I was looking for if you could still update from other regions with a JP 3DS

WOn't the 3DS need to have some IP thing to block out of country downloads? Don't know much about that stuff lol.

Of course you can. You can update and download games, content etc for a US Wii or US DSi from the UK just fine. Why would the 3DS be any different?

Japan's focus is on local play, it seems. Also: launch titles, so some features just won't make the cut in an accelerated dev period.

As for Nintendo pushing Capcom... possibly, but I suspect Capcom are just more West-oriented (or more global, perhaps) and understand the importance of online play in markets outside Japan.

Is that the one with the "response" clips of people playing the system and the 3DS tour info? Not a bad little ad, and interesting to see them pushing it early with this campaign.

There is no 3DS bootup, just the 'red wave' thing when you launch an App.

The DS boot noise is because I hit the Game Channel which has a DS game in it.

My overriding negative memory of the original pilotwings was similar, except it was those pillars that you had to touch while using the rocket belt. It was a pain to determine if you were in front of or behind them with no direct frame of reference to work with.

Yup, that's the one. The guys reaction was a bit funny, though. "Woah duuude, 3D without glasses." :p
But I'm sure it's a good start to slowly introduce the 3DS to the mainstream.

Yeah, a couple of the reactions are slightly stagey, but it gets the point across well I think. I'll be interested to see how Nintendo and others handle game-specific ads. The system ads can go a fair way with reaction shots etc., but game ads will have to be a little more clever.

Can you play or do other things while the update is being downloaded? Or do you have to watch the annoying mario progress bar like in Wii?

I can see that happening actually.

At the very least, Nintendo will no doubt have trailers for 3DS games up on the e-shop alongside E3.

That's the progress bar for downloading games. The update one is separate (and no system has ever allowed you to use it while it is downloading and installing an update.)

We'll have to wait until May before we see if games can be downloaded in the background.

I think it's a given that 3DS trailers from E3 will be distributed in 3D.
