Nintendo : buy Mario Kart 8 on the eShop or retail, get a free game

I wonder if the Club Nintendo page won't register the PIN until 10am? I've never tried a PIN at midnight so don't know if they go live then. What I'm trying to get it at is what if the PINs only ever registered at 10am?

I'd fucking buy MK8 just to get the free game despite not owning a Wii U. But no. No NoE bonuses for Scandinavia. Because reasons. That's the real travesty here guys.
So you missed the news about it being extended to Scandinavia?

But if you don't own a Wii U the download code has an expiry date of the end of September.

The CN page will register the Club Nintendo PIN as soon as it's added to their database. My 3DS XL was registered the day before the actual release. Though there were times they actually blocked PIN registration for games, until a certain time, for one of the previous promotions (just remembered that).

No need to hate Bergsala or NoE for this as they have the deal available to us, too! Visit your country's Nintendo site for details

I am trying to decide between NSMBu, WW or Pikmin 3. Completed WW on the GG many moons ago.

Edging towards NSMBu so that the boys can play it as well. Roll on Friday :D

That is exactly what's going to happen. No one will lose out on his game, they simply won't start the registering process until 10am. They are probably hoping that this early in the morning most people will be at school/university/work, so that not everyone is trying to register the code at same time.

I'm not sure if you remember, but the CN was completely dead at 0:00 the day ALBW launched, due to the treasure chest offer a few countries had. Everyone and his dog tried to get one as quickly as possible and it was apparently simply too much for Nintendo's servers.

Ehhhh.....read the OP? Scandinavia doesn't have Club Nintendo anymore because of financial reasons, but this time Nintendo went out their way to have this offer available to those countries.

How bad it is that I'm tempted to get Game & Wario over Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate? Just not feeling MH at all... Or maybe I should just sell my code or something.

I have to buy 2 copies of the game: one for me and other for my niece so I will have 2 codes.

I have decided to get Wind Waker and Pikmin 3. I'll wait for a cheap Wonderful 101 ebay code xD

If you buy for yourself Pikmin 3 is probably my favorite game on the Wii u. which i find pretty funny since i disliked pikmin 1 because it was hard to switch pikmin color but that is solved in pikmin 3. It has some beautiful worlds. fun multiplayer and some fun boss fights and the gameplay is really great. But nsmbu is better for the little kids.

Can I get two game codes by registering on my primary and child Club Nintendo accounts?
I checked the terms/FAQ:
If I register multiple Mario Kart 8 games to the same Club Nintendo account, will I get a free download for each of these games?
No. Only one copy of the game can be registered to a Club Nintendo account, so each account can only qualify for one free download code.
However, multiple members of a Family Account can each register Mario Kart 8 to their individual Club Nintendo account. In that case, each person that registers their copy of the game will qualify to receive a free download code.
Disclaimer: In North America you can make family accounts which essentially link up to 8 Club Nintendo accounts together including coins earned.

Is it just me, or when the review embargo is 3 weeks prior to release, does the game feel old before it even comes out? I really want to play it and have it pre-purchased, but it doesn't feel like the hot new thing.

Game and Wario isn't a bad game - the drawing game in particular is awesome, and it's got some great local multiplayer games.

Which of the offered games(in EU) have full Off-TV Play functionality?

Most of the single player ones do. Wiki has a fairly comprehensive list of games with off tv play support.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-TV_Play

Going by that page, Wind waker, pikmin 3, W101 , NMSBU, Sonic Lost World and Monster hunter 3 ultimate have off tv play support. (Should be careful though, as NSMBU requires wiimotes for every player to control a character in multiplayer. Pikmin 3 requries at least one person to watch a tv for multiplayer). The rest I think can be played completely off tv in single player.

But don't choose Sonic Lost world.

So if you do it through the website, do the games show up on the Wii U under one nnid?

Or can the download codes be used on the same nnid?

I wish US had a better selection to chose from. The only title I don't already have is Wii Party U, and I can't say I'm too interested in it honestly. It also happens to be the largest download size as well.
I suppose a free game is a free game though, so I shouldn't complain.

You can always just sell the code (either club nintendo, or the free game code) if nothing appeals to you. Should be able to get $30-40 pretty easy for it.

Strange how I own W101, but have hardly played it, because I always thought I needed the TV...

I'm not sure what I should get.
I already have WW, NSMBU, TW101, Pikmin 3, Nintendoland.
I thought maybe MH3HD but tbh I didn't really like the demo and I already got it on 3ds for free, and ended up playing it about 45 minutes.

I might save the code for future offers

They have patched in Pro Controller support for NSMBU, but yeah, no player can do anything but putting out blocks with the gamepad in multi.

It's better if you're using both the gamepad screen and the TV, although it supports only using one. In that scenario, it has one screen blown to the screen's full size and the other shrunk down in the corner.

I posted in the BST thread, but figure it can't hurt to mention it here…

If anyone is interested in buying a Wii U game download code (US eShop) from the below promo, I'm selling mine. I already own the games that I would want from the offer. Asking $25. PM me if interested!

Is Wii Party U worth getting at all or should I just get one of the others and sell my retail copy? (I already own all other games).

How's Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games? I had the old one on DS and really enjoyed it as quick, easy mini-games to play. No high expectations, just want simple fun stuff to play with. Multiplayer options?

Will probably grab two copies of MK8 or buy a second CN code, so I'll get Sonic Lost World as well.

Sell a physical copy of the one the games you do own, sell the download code to someone or take a chance on something weird like Game & Wario.

I don't think NOE will ever do a register MK8 get game offer again.

Oh wow, how embarassing for me. Yeah I was way too quick there, this is one of the first time they extend the offers. I hope this is a continuing trend :)

That's why I sold my WWHD to Target last week for $45. Made all the money I paid for it back and I get it back for free less than one week later.
Yeah, I'm gonna sell my WWHD to GameStop and when I apply it to my MK8 preorder I'll make about the same and get it again for free. That seems to be the best option for a US Nintendo fan.

Derp moment on my part for not taking advantage of that triple trade in deal with Target since I already own 3/4 games listed.

Going to see if I can still pre-order at BB to get that $10 gas card if its still a thing.

No shit, will the digital version of Pikmin 3 pull from the same save file as the disc copy does?
I'm pretty sure it will. I remember reading someone saying that their NSMBU disc save worked with their download version, it likely works like that for every game.

So going back to the top of the page. I was wrong. It does let you register early. Now heres the thing. For Castlevania Mirror of fate there was a free NES Casltevania offer for first x to register and that did warn you that by registering early you would no be eligible for this*.

So what the hell NOE? You're happy to warn people about a €5 NES game but let them dig their own grave over a €60 Wii U one? Especially when they tell retailers that they don't need to wait for release date just comes off as poor taste.

On another note: Similar thing happened to me with Mirror of Fate. I got the game almost a week earlier and wanted to register it for the NES Castlevania promotion (only the first to register it got the game for free).
Nintendo was prepared for an early arrival as well. Trying to register the game, resulted in a warining screen that told me, that im free to register the game, but if i wanted to partake in the promotion, i should wait a couple of days with it.

If you're not feeling MH3, I'd recommend Game & Wario. It's not worth the £30 they want for it, but the Gamer game alone is worth getting it for free.

If anyone registers early, I would check back after 10am tomorrow to see if they're eligible anyway. I know they've set a time for registrations for this, but the buy 3 get 1 free promotion was backdated, so they might with this too.

I got a reply from Nintendo. Utterly useless.

Thank you for your email regarding the Mario Kart 8 promotion.

In regards to a digital copy of a game, iou will be required to firstly link your Club Nintendo account to your Nintendo Wii U console before proceeding to download your game.

This can be done via the Nintendo eShop directly from the Nintendo Wii U, clicking on 'Settings', then scrolling down to 'Club Nintendo'.

Following this, await 24 hours before downloading the game, then manually log into your Club Nintendo account via the www.nintendo.co.uk site. Your survey link should be located at the top of the page once logging in to your account.

We hope this helps resolve your query, if you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

So we're none the wiser. That said, if they've given out the wrong instructions, they'll end up having to fix it for us anyway.
