Nintendo : buy Mario Kart 8 on the eShop or retail, get a free game

What's this bullshit about 10am. I just bought the game digitally and entered the code immediately into club Nintendo. It registered but no menton of the free game....

Having to enter a code at all is a bit stupid when I bought it digitally, but I can accept they have their reasons.

Hopefully some humans exist at Nintendo and will activate my free game if I call up, especially as they will be able to see I bought the game through the estore.

Edit: It seems the free game code is activated after 48hrs so I will wait and see.

So going back to the top of the page. I was wrong. It does let you register early. Now heres the thing. For Castlevania Mirror of fate there was a free NES Casltevania offer for first x to register and that did warn you that by registering early you would no be eligible for this*.:
resulted in a warining screen that told me, that im free to register the game, but if i wanted to partake in the promotion, i should wait a couple of days with it.
This is promising. I went from opening MK8 to registering the PIN without seeing any notifications about the promotion at all, so it's a very easy mistake to make.

I am still worried, but I think it should be okay. Hopefully it won't involve a chat with customer services either.

It tells you on the screen where it displays the code to enter it after 10am. So you won't qualify for the promotion.

So there's strings attached to this deal?

Can anyone tell me the details? I play on buying this game digitally at 9pm pst.
In Europe, registering the game on Club Nintendo too early can make you ineligible for the promotion. I think all the other regions are fine.

Oh man , someone on gaf already told me Pikmin 3 over WWHD since I haven't played Pikmin 3, but that nostalgia and that 1080p...I know I should get Pikmin 3, but damn I really like Wind Waker :(

Does anyone know how to redeem this through the Japanese e-shop? The try 2 games for 1 month type deal?
I'm not entirely sure to download the games once the code is entered and wondering if anyone else has had luck with this.

So what's the deal with the US version and the free game? Have to wait until 10AM EDT to get Mario Kart, or is it wait until then to register it, or what exactly?

I may just wait until morning to be on the safe side anyway.

In the US, Midnight is when the deal goes active

You'll be safe to download at 9pm tonight PST, Nintendo would not put it up to download on their own shop only to screw over thousands of people out of the deal.......would they?

I could understand getting the physical copy too early though.

I'll preface this by noting that I'm not any authority on the matter, but I don't think there's any penalty anywhere for registering early. I think the concerns about Europe are based simply on a misunderstanding regarding the earlier Pikmin/Wonderful 101 promo. Some people had issues when they registered digital codes they bought from a retailer (GAME I think?) early and -- when that proved problematic -- the early assumption was that it was because the registration didn't fall within the date range. However, when the dust settled, I think it was determined that the issue was that the promo was intended to work only with purchases made directly through the eShop and thus they didn't account for codes bought from retail. And I think Nintendo ended up honoring the deal anyway.

Pretty sure that the Pikmin 3 thing was the exact same deal as this. Nintendo Network Premium points weren't given either and they've always been given with codes from Game. I reckon that Nintendo sets a cut off date for these promotions to make sure reviewers don't get the bonuses with their codes.

They fixed the Pikmin 3 issue, and they might fix this one as well, but I wouldn't bet it on it.

I'm not sure whether to get Wind Waker HD or Pikmin 3. I already have them and NSMB U. I guess it'll be nice to have a digital copy of Pikmin 3.

It was only problematic because they didn't warn people beforehand, which is why they ended up honoring the promotion anyway, since the banner was put on the eShop after launch.

Here, they warned people the very day the promotion was announced, and it has been on Ninendo's front page for several weeks (not anymore, I believe). This time around, they came up with the PIN Code system even if you buy on the eShop probably to avoid people registering too early if they DL the game before the start of the promotion.

So it does not automatically appear in your Club Nintendo account? Maybe I have no need to wait for 10am then :p Then again give I linked my NNID to Club Nintendo 20 minutes ago I am being overly cautious.

Which game make the most sense to choose if I intend to resell the code? I have all the games I'm interested in in the promo (all minus m&s, g&w, sonic and party u)

It would be a dick move if they don't help those that registered early. It would go against the intention of the promotion, which is to reward early MK8 buyers.

Maybe I'm just reassuring myself, but I'm going to assume an email or phone call will clear this up.

Where exactly are you seeing this page with the code?

Is it guaranteed that the code isn't tied to an account?? Because if not then I'll gladly take you up on that offer.

Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this but I'll do it anyway..
Is there any way to know which NNID is linked to the Club Nintendo account?
I have two NNIDs. I created both at launch because the eShop wasn't available in my country at the time I made them. I used the "fake" NNID with USA info so I could buy stuff from the eShop in the meantime.
Now the eShop is available in my country so I use my real/main NNID for everything but I can't remember which one was linked to my Club Nintendo account. I've purchased content in both ID's but I'd like to register MK8 in my main account.

Check on the eShop under settings, it should show you which Club Nintendo Account is linked to your NNID.

It does automatically appear as well. The code for digital is just for people who haven't tied the Club Nintendo account to their Wii U it would appear.

I'll take my survey in an hour then to make sure I get games and such.

almost picked Wii Party U then remembered my Pikmin 3 disc sometimes had an error when playing. BOOM. Thanks Nintendo. I will sell the disc for cheap on ebay.
