Some small thoughts of games I got with Club Nintendo coins:

Fluidity: Spin Cycle - very fun puzzle/platformer. Unlike it's Wiiware predecessor, it's level based. Pro is that the puzzles are more complex, con being that you lose the exploration aspect. Has a big number of levels, and if you're going for 100% it will last a while. I was worried about the controls, but turns out you can just tilt it down to simulate spinning it around. Too bad I only took notice of this halfway through when I was reading the OT.

Chibi Robo: Photo Finder: only for Chibi Robo fans. The photo taking part isn't interesting at all, at least to me, but it's easily by-passable by taking a photo of the outline. The other main portion of the game is the mini games, most of which aren't compelling enough (and the fact that you can't restart them without going through lots of slow scrolling text makes getting the gold medals a chore). The (5) areas to explore are too small. The positive aspect is the characters have all the charm and whimsy that are trademark to the series. So yeah, only get it if you're badly craving some Chibi Robo like I was.

Dillon's Rolling Western: I'm playing through this right now, and liking it more as I advance. It's a hybrid tower-defense/action game. The first time you play through a level you only have a limited amount of money, so you can't build many towers having to do much of the work yourself. The battle system isn't very complex, so this may get tedious, though it does get better as you gain more moves and new enemies appear. If you go back to a level you can use all the money you accumulated and it's focused of killing the enemies as fast as possible to get the 5 star ranking (which is quite strict, or maybe I suck). Game's pretty stressing in both cases, so it's best played in short bursts. The artwork is gorgeous and the dialogue enjoyable. Got the sequel but haven't played yet.

No. I don't think you understand how any of this works? Am I right? UK "and English language countries" (say, Australia) are two entirely different regions. Those two regions each have their own age ratings requirements, which cost unreasonably shitty amounts of money. Those are mandatory. So, for one, you need to pay for those. Then, in your scenario, you'd be promoting the game once in that region already for that English release and then you'd have to do it again for whenever you're done with localization. That makes no sense. Nobody does this for a reason. Devs, especially indies, don't have infinite money and people pools. Resources are hard to come by. Many times, they need the release in one region to make some money back first so they can sink that cash into bringing it to other regions. Even if the money isn't that tight, you still need people to actually do the work. Localization is a complex and time intensive process, hence the high costs associated with it. There are manuals, promo materials and in-game text to translate. And in the case of in-game text, that brings about a whole other round of testing to see if text fits into the boxes/UI elements/whatever that were initially made for whatever words the source language is. Most of the time, you can't afford to do that concurrently with finishing up the main game. That's just the reality.

No. I saw some speculation that it might have to do with EU laws about f2p stuff where characters cannot appear sad if you don't want to pay for something. That might be a possible hold-up.

Haha, really? That's an interesting law, but I guess I can see how some people might think the game is manipulating them into buying if they look sad. Still, weird reason to hold off on a game hitting a certain region.
