Plz bring Bye-Bye BoxBoy to the US this month.

Otherwise, physical Puyo Puyo Tetris for me (just to get those keychains) & maybe MK8 Deluxe, but I'll probably hold off since I had the game + DLC on Wii U.

Between all three consoles April is just ridiculously good. On Switch alone I'll be grabbing MK8 Deluxe, Wonder Boy, and Puyo Tetris, but PaRappa / Yooka-Laylee / Voodoo Vince on top of that? Crazy.

Outside of Yooka-Laylee on PC and Cosmic Star Heroine on PS4, I'll be getting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Graceful Explosion Machine, and Shakedown: Hawaii whenever it gets a date! Going to be a great month!

Really looking forward to Mr Shifty. For me it was the most interesting looking game out of that indie direct.

So Ninty is offering Mario Kart 3DS for GBP 28 as a birthday discount.
I got until April 5th to redeem it. Should I go for it? I don't think I could find it any cheaper :x

I had no idea how addictive those Picross games are. I managed to get e7 before the sale ended. 4 days later, 60 puzzles have been cleared 😶 The 15 x 15 puzzles are better than the previous puzzles. More strategy is involved and the pictures resemble their titles more. Many thanks Shiggy and L~A for your help earlier.

Last sale was great, I ended up getting the following games:
1. Gunman Clive 1 & 2
2. Toki Tori 3D
3. Tappingo 2
4. Nano Assault EX
5. Weapon Shop de Omase
6. Picross e7

Ace Attorney Spirit of Justice and Rune Factory 4 are also on the wish list, but I thought 30% was not good enough. Here's hoping they will return again.

So Animal Gods is finally hitting Wii U? Looks like I'll need to unbox my U. It looks really good and the devs are from West Virginia. (Perhaps my state's only one.)

Really wish I could buy it on Switch instead.

Thanks for the layout changes, tolkir. Looks great and everything is easy to see!

I hope you will also continue playing Pokemon Picross and Zelda Picross ;)
Picross e7 seems to have a few changes compared to prior titles: the game lets you set blocks at places of which you're uncertain about, and it awards medals for finishing a level with no help/hints and no mistakes. So I just turned off the hint function.

Are you sure about that? I got medals for the puzzles which don't give hints, but I made mistakes before completing them. I've also solved levels entirely on my own (while the blue indicators are on), but I still didn't get any. Getting punished with time reduction is turned off though. It seemed like it would get annoying having that on.

The plan is to get Zelda Picross once I have enough points (410 to go!). Pokemon Picross was really enjoyable but I read that it's not a good experience if you don't want to pay. And that it is better to pay $30 upfront instead of paying in between. Is this true? It's on hold because of that.

Here are impressions of the games I got to try.

Gunman Clive 1
It was a short experience but well worth it. Gameplay is similar to 2D Megaman which is enjoyable, trying out all 3 characters was fun and 3D is great. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Toki Tori 3D
A game that is worth the asking price (even without a price reduction). Its mix of being a platformer and puzzle game is interesting. It's a relaxing experience, cute art style and the ability to rewind time if things go wrong is welcome. I'm halfway through the game. Picross e7 took all my attention but I'll definitely return to Toki Tori. Don't get it for the 3D effect though. It looked washed out and better in 2D.

I think it only gives you medals on every 5th stage, when you're forced to do it without hints.

Meanwhile, I've lost hope that Mario's Super Picross will hit the US N3DS VC....

The blue hint lights need to be turned off and you're not allowed to make mistakes (if you turn off the penalties, then you're fine).

Pokemon Picross is fine. I didn't pay for it. You just need to take your time, do the daily training to unlock new worlds. If you see it as your daily Picross which takes 5-15 minutes a day, it's great.

First I've heard of Mr. Shifty. Dang.. Looks nice. Gonna be a busy month with MK8 and Mr Shifty now. Wonderboy looks interesting too and I'm really hoping that Pocket Rumble releases soon on the Switch.

What have you done to my life XD It's time to get those medals @_@

Alright, then I'll be giving Pokemon Picross another try. Perhaps after finishing e7?

There's a "Best Sellers" category on the Switch eShop now.

Edit:

US:

Snipperclips
Snake Pass
Shovel Knight Treasure Trove
Fast RMX
Has been Heroes
Binding of Isaac Afterbirth
Breath of the Wild
Metal Slug
Blaster Master
12 Switch

It says in a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen it's the most frequently downloaded titles over the past two weeks. So ... I guess, it'll refresh every two weeks from today or whenever the eShop updates? Also varies between region. Checked JPN and EU shops.

GulAtiCa

If it's like the Wii U eShop version, it will be more or less live (prob refreshed every hour). Interesting to see 2 weeks, Wii U's is a week look.

Pokemaniac

In addition to the Best Sellers category, "Best Sellers" is now a sort mode in the search menu. No info on if that is also only the last 2 weeks or if it's all time (at a glance, the list looks the same, though).

Will definitely be picking up Graceful Explosion Machine today. NUK site lists it as today, anyway (well it says it's out now, but the web page won't let me download it)

Oh right, so the Nintendo UK site says Explosion Machine is out now, with a release date of 4th April. The eShop itself says 6th April. Can't they get things right yet?

I assume this will be the price for all platforms? I'd expect less considering it's a 4 year old game and it's sold for 25€ on Wii U.

Yep. Edit: Except Steam version.

Probably they messed it up because Has Been Heroes date. It was 06th April since the beginning.
At least, they brought you a new trailer. Edit: Ok, it's old.

It's so weird to see Konami of all companies almost single-handedly keeping VC going at the moment, and with Hudson titles to boot.

Tizoc

Because they don't have the people or motivation to make new games.

Preserving their older catalog is still a commendable effort IMO. I just with these titles would also release on more platforms for further preservation.

Crossposting and quoting from the January thread I accidentally bumped:

I tried Mario Kart 64 today after getting it a while back and man, the controls are really different from what I remember.

The analogue stick in particular.

Big deadzone on the gamepad, and then past that you move it EVER SO slightly and the character veers to the side violently.

Pretty disappointed, was really excited to have a portable mk64 (I play everything I can with the wiiu on the gamepad).

Music is still good at least :(

I wonder if n64 emulators on phones are good enough nowadays? Getting a ps4 controller and phone mount tomorrow primarily for streaming but now I might look into emulators too.

Otherwise I guess I'll try getting used to it, but slight changes in direction are just almost impossible to do - you have to rely on drifting a lot more - which isn't that bad but it's not authentic childhood experience.

Was planning on playing ocarina of time after Botw on the gamepad...but now I'm not sure (I don't have a 3DS, I heard that version is good).

The deadzone is a stock problem of the N64 emulator apparently (together with the darkened image).
They only somewhat fixed it for F-Zero X, after lots of complaints on Miiverse.
The Switch's emulators better be peerless, since no Miiverse...

Thanks for the headsup...that's a shame :/

Does anyone know if OoT is still good on the gamepad?

I hope the switch n64 emulator is better too. Bit of a shame, was really keen to play more 64 games on the gamepad after trying mario 64 for a few levels - didn't have as much trouble with that, though I haven't played it much yet.
