Nintendo Downloads - December 2011

blu

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.
Wasn't Flipper 1 terrible? Just going by what I heard; I never tried it.
Flipper 1 was a tech demo with some rough-around-the-edges gameplay. Flipper2 looks like an actual game.

Only Blaster Master for US this week? That's pathetic, Europe got this last week along with PullBlox. It's Reggie's "breath" thing again. They didn't release it with Pushmo, because they can't, it would hurt Pushmo's sales.

Other than that, a GBC game after 6 months. Yay!

Is that spinning thing toward the beginning of the Carmen Sandiego video supposed to look like a PSP? Because it definitely does.

I also enjoyed the Michael Jackson's Black and White style character transformation while they were walking.

Will definitely be buying Blaster Master.

In regard to Daviddayton's list, Build-a-Lot, Shawn Johnson Gymnastics, and Slingo Quest all had previous US retail releases, although I don't know whether their DSiWare counterparts are cut-down versions or not. I think the 3 Puffins releases were taken from the Puffins Island Adventure retail release. I believe that Prehistorik Man and Rayman were also based on their retail GBA counterparts, with some added 2nd screen use.

I enjoyed the retail version of Elite Forces -- thought it was kind of an under-rated gem. Glad to see it's getting a second life on the eShop.

three new downloadable trailers up as well. Kid Icarus Uprising, Dillon's Rolling Western, and some Samurai thing I can't remember the name of.

I love that girl on the show. It's so much better than that doofy guy on the Wii show. I ran into him at the Mario 3D Land launch in NYC and apparently I got into his shot by accident and I didn't realize it and he started yelling at me. So now, I vote with my (Wii) remote.

Must've been Evil Gary.

I sent the following Email to Nintendo:

Dear Nintendo,

I just downloaded the Kirby 3D Classic on my 3DS and I noticed something I've been wanting for a very long time: I can use the Y and B buttons to play it!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Please, please, please make this native from now on.

Every time I try to play a game from a system with 2 face buttons on a system with 4 face buttons(eg Game Boy game on the SNES, GBA game on the DS etc) The A and B button placement makes them unplayable to me.

Build a button mapper into your emulator or something. Make what you did to the Kirby 3D Classic available for all games that use only A + B.

Thanks

And I got the following reply:

Hello,

Thanks for writing. On behalf of Nintendo, I wanted to tell you how much we appreciate your taking the time to share your comments. It's great to hear how much you are enjoying 3D Classics Kirby's Adventure. I’ll make sure that what you said about wanting future games to use the Y and B buttons will be forwarded, so your feedback will be heard. While I can’t guarantee that we’ll make the type of changes you suggested, we do take all feedback into consideration.

That's the best "thank you for your feedback" email I've ever received. It doesn't sound cut and pasted. Here's hopin.

That must be why the GBA ambassador games are delayed in the US. It's gonna take them a few months to add customizable button controls to the emulator. Thanks a lot!

Those three games aren't noted, in the eShop, as being previously part of a retail release. I added a note noting the uncertainty of this fact to the spreadsheet.

I think the 3 Puffins releases were taken from the Puffins Island Adventure retail release. I believe that Prehistorik Man and Rayman were also based on their retail GBA counterparts, with some added 2nd screen use.

I added a "possible" note to the Puffin entries... not really worrying about the GBA ports/etc. yet.

Downloaded Blaster Master Enemy Below, great little sequel so far. I love how the opening fits right in with the intro style from the NES game.

Despite not being talked about much here Enemy Below is a really good GBC game and I'm surprised and glad it made it on here.
