Nintendo Downloads - December 2014

I bought the Hyrule Warriors DLC bundle. Now, I need one more thing to get my last DDP code. Should I get Armillo or Fire Emblem? Either one should give me enough points. I don't see myself playing either one anytime soon, so I am leaning towards Fire Emblem, because it probably won't ever go on sale.

I'd actually say go for Armillo, because you never know when it will be on sale again, and it's a superb buy at that price. As you said FE won't go on sale likely...ever? so it may as well wait. I like to try to support indie devs if it's a toss-up, though.

Only 49 games went on sale today? I am outraged and moving to Europe!

Seriously though, I highly recommend Knytt to anyone who enjoys no-combat exploration games (especially if you enjoyed the first two on PC.) The writing is a little juvenile but otherwise it's a fantastic game with great atmosphere and lots of extra content beyond the main story, and finding every hidden nook and cranny on the map is a worthy adventure unto itself.

My logic was the opposite xD Fire Emblem is likely to never be on sale, so buying it now and not playing it won't cost me anymore money than buying it later. With Armillo, it will likely be 50% off again, if not more, at a later time.

Were all of Armillo's technical problems fixed?

Continuing on with Toki Tori (my apologies to insist). If say... i have Limbo in high regard will i like Toki Tori 2? It looks to me both are puzzle platformers, of course Limbo puzzles seem more physics based. But i think it could be a fair comparison.

Also which one the person that experience then enjoyed the most?

Horrible, isn't it?
/sarcasm

Yeah though, I've pretty much had my fill of over-the-top negativity in these threads. It's possible to have legitimate discussions where issues are raised and people aren't happy with some things, but to hear the same issues ad nauseum is just pointless, annoying, and disruptive.

I don't know about other people, but I think I'm going to do better without it.

Ok, which ones is more polished or has more deep gameplay or provides better value?

->

Where have you been when people kept praising Toki Tori 2 as one of the best games of 2013 last year? :)

was that not enough?

They have nothing in common with Limbo. Neither of them. Toki Tori 2 is the one you want to play. That's what I've been trying to tell you^^

Never really played Limbo (other then the demo for the 1st few levels)

Toki Tori 2 is great. It's a type of open-world type puzzle game with NO instructions (some early hints though). So fun to explore and figure things out on your own. I really recommend it.

You should leave the puzzles for the game not the message board. XD Your reply pretty much sealed the deal.

Oh, isn't Toki Tori a sort of puzzle platformer? That's why i was drawing the paralel to Limbo. Also for what i could gather both games are pretty low on exposure, leaving players to their on devices.

As i finished typing the above i saw your post. Really apreciate your opinion XD

SERIOUSLY GALACTICA (intentional misspeling) GO!... AND PLAY LIMBO NOW. It needs to be experienced even if you don't end up liking it.

So Miiverse will be the place to go when im stuck but don't want to spoil the game? Let's hope that community is active.

There is no platforming. Toki Tori, like Captain Toad, is based around the inability to jump and making one's way around the environment regardless by using things in the environment. TT1 is very simple, level based and TT2 is an open world, metroidy kind of game in which you learn about abilities you already have since the first second of gameplay through things the environment tells you without a single word of text.

Knyth Undergrownd game someone already mentioned looks of good quality. That icon on the eShop that represents the game is not very flattering as it looks like poorly drawn art.

The game at least looks very artistically inspired and seem to have some clever mechanics. For half price and for those on the look for a game right now they should check the page at least.

In other matters. Does anyone know the fees for crunchyroll on Wii U? The page just says it's a free 14 day trial but doesn't go into specifics.

I'm doing this , well people are coming over here.

Thoughts on Stick it to the man? Looks interesting but I never hear anyone talk about it

It's an easy adventure game with a novel concept (putting in and pulling things from people's minds) and a bit of platforming. The gameplay is so-so but the really weird story and characters are highly enjoyable.

I had decided to leave my 258 points alone and let 'em expire... then I got some xmas money and... I'm such a puny tiny weakling!!

Grabbed:

Scram Kitty
Toki Tori II+
Duck Hunt
Shovel Knight
Super Mario World's upgrade for €1,49

At least I didn't cave in for Child of Light or even Armillo, pheeew

If you guys want something mildly depressing for your Christmas: I decided to check the "best sellers" tab on the eShop while doing my final run for the deluxe program... Meme Run was in the first page :|

Edit: Also thought there was more Pikmin 3 dlc/it would cost more. Finally decided to grab that, amongst a ton of other things.

I just found out Xtype + was updated with an off-tv patch! Woo-hoo!

Also picked up Adventures of Lolo for the simple fact that I was about $4.50 short of getting a $5 DDP code and I don't figure there'll be any additional sales in the eShop by then.

Got Sonic Boom on 3DS, it is fun and liking it.

Couldn't pass on Crimson Shard for $3, especially since I like me some board games. Though with Sonic & Minish Cap, not sure when I'll get to Shard :/ have to wait til I get home to buy Wii U games. How many bundles for Hyrule Warriors are there? Anything besides costumes?

Are there any good strategy guides for your game? I stink on the first map.

Sorry for being late with this one. I really should make a guide page for the game. Anyways, here are some things I do.

On that map, I tend to try to be as conservative as possible. Like use one center Sentry and let it do it's work for 1st 2 levels. Don't spend money during a level, as the more money you have at end of level will award you with more money bonus. Use those Money ability multipliers only on every level before the 5th level waves (4th, 9th, 14th, etc).

Helper bot is really useful if you power it up fully in the Slow & Freeze upgrades and a few upgrades in the Target & Max Hit (so it does it more often to that enemy). I tend to put those in the 4 spots around the base to completely stop enemies and let the attack bots do their job.

If you survive long enough, a Bomber can be your best investment! They start out slow at firing at 2 seconds per bomb, but if you have enough money left, like $50k+, and upgrade the Fire Rate to max 0.5 second fire rate, it will become a very powerful device that will do a lot of damage in quick succession. I tend to switch out other bots for those in later levels.

I'm so jealous of my niece and nephew. I bought them a Wii U from Nintendo. Hooked it up and on it was Nintendo Land and Super Mario 3D World already installed!!

I've been wanting the digital version of Nintendo Land. Way to taunt me Nintendo :(

Give in. You know you want to. ;)

Get armillo, you are a horrible human being if you don't

If it was GAF developed I would in a heartbeat (3€ is peanuts, great deal) but as it stands *to me* it just looks so bad visually, hate its looks, I despise framerate problems, not a fan of collectathon to pass a level and looking at videos it seems too slow paced for me... and I usually love roll-o-rama games like Kirby, Super Monkey Ball and the great Kororinpa (both, but prefer the first one).

It just looks like a perfect candidate to go straight into the backlog just to never come out of there.
Haven't seen a single video or read impressions selling me on the game, if that was to change somehow... then I'd happily reconsider.

Can't wait to finally play Shovel Knight, I was dead set on waiting for at least a 33%off sale because I don't wanna support staggered releases where the EU one happens more than a month after the original release... but as I've pointed out already, I'm a weak pussy lol

I need 301 points for my last DDP $5 credit. I'm getting Duck Hunt either way so it's essentially $25.20 I have to spend on my Wii U in a week.

Here's my plan as of now:

Buy Duck Hunt ($5)
Buy Klonoa ($7)
Buy Mario Pinball Land ($7)
Buy Gargoyle's Quest 2 ($5)
Buy Mighty Final Fight ($5)

I'm still a dollar short, though! What the hell can I do :(

Buy another game (maybe one that's on sale) on top of everything else or get something more expensive instead of Mighty Final Fight, e.g. a GBA game. Don't know what you already have so I can't really name anything specific. Surely there must be something left on your wishlist.

Yeah, this is the whole problem: I have everything. Anything I would buy that's on sale I already have.

Yeah, this is the whole problem: I have everything. Anything I would buy that's on sale I already have.

Ok, so nothing from the sale, eh. Well, I don't think there's a way to pay more than the asking price so you'll have to get something else. Again, don't really know what you already own. I'm sure there's a good VC game out there you haven't played, yet. Maybe go browse that category for a bit? :p

As far as indies are concerned, Abyss, XType+ and Cosmophony are the three cheap ones that come to mind (and aren't on sale at the moment). Guessing you already have those.

You could also get Spy Chameleon and post some impressions. Or, if you have already have it, you could still post some impressions. :v

The graphics are charming in a HDn64 style, the collectathon nature fits quite well into the game and the frame rate issues aren't that bothering, just buy it

Xmas week for me:

- Duck Hunt
- Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
- Super Mario Bros. Deluxe
- Inazuma Eleven
- Weapon Shop de Omasse

I really don't get TTH's constant "lol NoA" complains. There's tons of great stuff for sale on the eShop and America's are arguably better because there's a lot more sales on 3DS. All Europe has is SM3DW, which is a game almost everyone here already owns anyway.

I'm so jealous of my niece and nephew. I bought them a Wii U from Nintendo. Hooked it up and on it was Nintendo Land and Super Mario 3D World already installed!!

I've been wanting the digital version of Nintendo Land. Way to taunt me Nintendo :(

Wow, that is great! Congrats.

Ahh, I totally forgot I meant to get Stealth 2 during that crazy busy period when it dropped. I'll probably just grab that and not bother with some of those VC titles for now.

This idea is pretty interesting. If there's any real demand I'll just grab Spy Chameleon and report back if the thread wants a guinea pig.

XType+ and Abyss? Fun little games.

I got XType pretty much the second it hit the store and adore it. Abyss is a maybe. I've heard largely good things.

Blok Drop U X Twisted Fusion is a pretty fun physic-based puzzle game if you like games like that.

I liked Blok Drop U a lot but I'm sort of boycotting Rcmdiax's weekly releases at this point. :/

Oh hey, more themes are up, and one of them is the puppet Cat Mario & Peach theme that EU got for free!

I would be interested. I love little puzzle games as Toki Tori, Rabi Laby, Edge, Pushmo, Stealth Inc, etc.

I wouldn't mind Spy Chameleon impressions, the video looked more impressive than I expected. I'd recommend Abyss, but only if you have the patience for intentionally tricky controls. I personally loved it but YMMV.

Spending a buck? Maybe DLC like Pikmin 3 or a Zen Pinball table?
