I know I posted earlier in the thread about Pushmo World's apparent discount if you bought the previous games, but that was before it was confirmed for the Americas (assuming the OP is correct). Now that it is, how exactly do you verify that discount? Is it just simply linked to your Nintendo Network ID?

That should be how it works, yea. However I do not believe it has been confirmed for NA yet.

The previous owner likely didn't have an NNID. If you don't tie an NNID to a 3DS, the purchases are tied to the hardware itself. Once you add an NNID any software purchases tied to that hardware are then tied to your NNID instead. At least that's how I understand it.

This seems to be the answer, then. Wow. I lucked out.

any thoughts on NightSky and Ikachan?
thinking whether to get Cave Story too

I really liked Ikachan, but it's an incredibly short game (about 45 minutes to 1 hour), so you have to judge for yourself if that's worth your money.
Cave Story is great and definitely recommended. I haven't played NightSky.

Ikachan is a fun little game. There's almost zero replayability, but I enjoyed my time with it. Cave Story, on the other hand, is my favorite indie game and I would recommend it to anyone who likes 2D action(-adventure) games.

I saw partial answers and while this already answered I thought a full answer would be handy.
It was refurbished/used from EB Games. I was under the impression these were wiped clean? It certainly behaved like a new clean one when turned on - asked for a profile/internet connection setup and everything.
Formatting a system does not delete the eShop account.* If you want to remove eShop purchases (why would you want to do that I don't know) you have to delete the eShop account on the eShop.

When a NNID is linked though the eShop account is adopted into that and so formatting in those circumstances leaves the eShop account empty (formatting is basically a logout button from the NNID, it is still linked to and can only log onto that 3DS system though).

With how NNID is necessary for demos these days I can imagine these finds will become rarer but maybe that was Nintendo's plan all along (harm the re-sell value of their systems).

*-The advantage of this unconventional account system is that you find used goodies like this but it is very pot luck (it also works on DSi and Wii; if you have a 3DS and Wii U to system transfer onto you can "harvest" used systems). But knowing there is anything valuable on these is the hard part. I conducted a "fun" search for an ambassador system (I don't care for the NES games and played the GBA ones at the time hence for fun) and found it impossible to tell either way (old looking systems were either formatted or photos of them in use had the icons too zoomed in to see anything but default ones).

Secret of Mana has been out on the Japanese Wii U VC for a year now. Every week, I check this thread hoping to see it finally released in the US, and every week I'm disappointed.

One day...

To echo opinions about Ikachan, it's a decent little game that feels like the prototype for Cave Story, but it is SHOOOOORT, as in it can take about an hour-ish to beat, and there's no replay value what so ever. For $2.50, I'd say it's worth getting for the quick little fun playthrough you'll get, but don't be surprised if you suddenly think "wait, that's it?!".

At this point I would just buy the Wii version and hope for an upgrade opportunity down the road

I've already got the Wii version on my Wii U (transferred it over from my old Wii). Just waiting for that upgrade.
I am in the same boat. And I kind of want to buy more stuff on the VC but u hate doing it through the wii shop, I would prefer just to get it straight on the eshop

So when I go to enter my code for Mario Party that I got through the Club, I get an error message saying this product is not yet available.

Anyone else run into that?

I echo my fellow GAFers comments about Ikachan. It's really really short, but it is a sweet game. For this price, I'd say it's totally worth it. It's like a chocolate bar: it will be gone in ten minutes, but it tastes great anyway.

Did you remember to enter it on the Wii Shop Channel using the Wii emulator? Wii U has no N64 games yet so you can't get the game from eShop.

No "cross-buy" or discount for buying both versions, right? They're basically the same game, aside from the exclusive features?

I always wanted to play Gargoyle's Quest II and Demon's Crest. Thank you, Capcom. :)
These are the game's I'll be picking up as well.

Demon's Crest is one of my favorite games of the SNES era and I have always wanted to try the Gargoyle's Quest games due to my love of it.

Do we have any idea of dates?

•Multiple controller support: Wii U Gamepad, Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Remote, Wii Remote + Nunchuck, Wii Classic Controller, and Wii Classic Controller Pro!
•Off-TV Play with the GamePad!
•Quick select Relics and items using the GamePad!

3DS Features

I think I'm going to go for 3DS over Wii U for Shovel Knight. Been giving Wii U a lot of attention lately and on most occasions in the future I'll choose it over 3DS when a similar version of a game is released for both. But Shovel Knight just seems like it belongs on my 3DS, and I'm more intrigued by its StreetPass functions than the Miiverse digger diary.

I should probably pick up project x zone while on sale. I almost pulled the trigger on full price at launch, but then sort of forgot about it.

Hoping for Senran Kagura sale sometime soon too!

Hating the EU delay for shovel knight. It wont be available on 3DS nor Wii U here?

Yes, same thing happened to me but all I got was that Pokemon index thing. You definitely lucked out!

Seriously. Quite happy I picked the system I did, then! (a metallic blue, over the other refurb system they had which was the Silver one with the Mario/Luigi image on the outside) - unless of course, that one had 50 digital games downloaded on it. Haha.

Just to confirm: EU is not getting Shovel Knight next week (on Nin platforms, anyway), right?

Yes, NOE has different requirements for eShop release than NOA.

They've tweeted that they got the PEGI/USK ratings done and are working on the localization now (it's being translated into French, Italian, German, and Spanish). I don't think it'll be anything more than a few more weeks for them to work through that.

Thanks! I guess a this point I can wait a bit longer. :p

Also, NoE need to get their act together. These delays are awful.

This is odd -- Super Dodge Ball (NES) is up on the 3DS eShop right now... the page says it was released 06/18/2014.

Weird.

Edit: It's up on the Wii U eShop too.

Ah, I thought we got midnight releases?

For retail games, yes. All DL games meant to be released on eShop update day become available at 3PM (GMT+2), though there's been some exceptions. Unfortunately, Pullblox World isn't one :(

This week's releases:

Nintendo eShop on Wii U
Pushmo World – Pulling the puzzle world in a new direction. Pushmo World brings the ingenious game-play mechanics of the original Nintendo 3DS puzzler Pushmo to the Wii U console, and makes it easier than ever for aspiring Pushmo engineers to share their creations through the World Pushmo Fair experience. Click here to see the trailer for Pushmo World.
Virtual Console on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U
Super Dodge Ball – In Super Dodge Ball, you take control of the USA Dodge Ball team and travel the world in an effort to become the best dodge ballers around.
