We're half a year away from the next Electronic Entertainment Expo, but Nintendo isn't messing around. The company's already sent out a media alert about their press conference scheduled before the show kicks off, where they should be laying out all the details on Revolution we've been anxious to hear.

May 9th at 9:30 am sharp. Mark your calendars.

Sweet, Nintendogs presentation: The sequel. Maybe we will get a target render trailer for a revolution game as a bonus...

Nah, don't want to get my hopes up.

Dear Nintendo -

Can we please have more info before May?
Pretty please with sugar on top.

All my love,

Elise.

you know this is Nintendo. I bet they will fuck with us and have zelda as their big game of the show again. (which would probably mean no zelda release in the near future)

Is it kind of weird to announce an pre-E3 conference this early? I don't seem to recall any of the 3 last year being announced this early...

If Nintendo knows what's good for them, they'll have Mario 128 ready and kicking. No more of this bullshit about them "experimenting" and crap.

Now, I'm as equally interested in Zelda: TP, however, I don't mind not seeing too much about that since what separates it from Mario 128 is that we KNOW Zelda: TP exists!

I'm sure Pilotwings will be great, it's just a shame that Factor 5 won't be doing it.

i'm hoping it'll be more like the original

i couldn't get into PW64 for anything. i really tried to

Yeah, I didn't either. PW64 took itself too seriously, probably due to who was developing it. The SNES one was more chilled out, escapist stuff.

PW64 also had some of the most godawful character designs ever.

hey don't go knocking pilotwings 64! trying to get all 100% was inredibly fun back in the day.

i really liked how this was one of the first games to really use 'wind' - the rocket pack levels in the caverns were awesome

So... does this mean we're not getting the final system name, and some game annoucnments by the end of 2005...?

Almost definitely not. Merrick's already said there won't be any more Revolution announcements (substantial ones, at least) this year.

Why am I starting to get the feeling that we won't get ANY more info on the Revolution until E3?

Tell me that this conference is gonna be longer than 1 hour... compared to the Microsoft and Sony press conferences that clock in 1 1/2, maybe 2 hours each, I would only hope that Nintendo takes 2 chock-full hours to showcase this thing.

Even after 20 years of doing this, I still don't believe it. Nintendo is telling me something I've known for months, yet I can't help but get a little excited.

I just hope they open up the bag a little bit more before the big show.

They did that with the DS, though, didnt they?

Say they werent going to reveal it tilL E3, but than like, January, they released info saying it was going to be dual screen and touch screen, and all this info about it came out in advance.

Fuck me, why can't E3 be just a week or two later.

Had really cushy invites each of the last three years, but they always coincide with finals at my school. Fucking January term.

Hmmm...them announcing it this soon seems to suggest that they're confident in giving us the info...must mean a line-up of playable games is being prepared and final specs/details are being set now.

-final name?
-Nintendo WFC Revolution features
-"Virtual Console" details
-Sega & SquareEnix full support of "Virtual Console"
-Controller Shell, other peripherals revealed
-launch details, what's bundled with the system, launch line-up, price, etc.
-developer reel of Revolution praise (like NDS unveiling)
-whatever other "secret" there may be (3D glasses, who the hell knows?)
-visuals comparable to competition
-games playable on showfloor (like NDS unveiling)
-Mario, Smash Bros., Metroid Prime 3 & new franchise shown & playable
-on-stage demonstration of Revolution controller with a diverse group of people (kid, gramps, woman, one-armed man)

Yeah, seriously. This year's E3 is almost a full two weeks earlier than the past several years. I probably can't make it this year :(

I really wouldn't be surprised if no games are shown until E3. Nintendo did say they don't want to show games until the press could play them. Official name will definitely get announced before that. Anyway sony will make up for the lack of next-gen news early 2006 with CES and that february show so it's easier to wait. March release in japan would rock too. :D

They probably moved the day up intentionally, beaucse they know this year is going to be huge, and it'll cut down the number of highschool and college kids who can attend.

The most likely reason that Nintendo sent out the mass email concerning the date and time of their pre-E3 press conference is because they went and booked a different theatre this year then in years past and the information might have leaked because of this.

WHAT: Nintendo's E3 Media Briefing

WHEN: Briefing begins at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2006.

WHERE: Kodak Theatre (home of the Academy Awards), Hollywood & Highland Center, 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028
(http://www.kodaktheatre.com/)

What's most interesting to note is that Nintendo has decided to host their conference in the much larger Kodak Theatre.

More will be REVealed before years end, probably small snippets of information from third parties

The full blowout will be at E3 of course
