The best Nintendo console reveal is when I unbox it in my living room and fire up the game I bought it for.

N64
Shoshinkai 1995.
Seeing footage of Mario 64 on both Games master and Bad influence just made me sick with excitement.
It was just mind blowing.
Not long afterwards, I was working at Gamestation and the Manager allowed me to take our imported, (from Planet distribution iirc) Japanese N64 home to play Mario 64.
I got my own American N64 not long after.
Nothing comes close to that reveal.
Nothing ever will again.

Just an incredible time, I obsessed over every Mario 64 screenshot in magazines.

We didn’t get the N64 in the UK until March 1997 and I fondly remember playing Mario 64 in HMV on release day followed up hours later by playing Virtua Fighter 3 in my local cinema complex for the first time.

Both blew my mind equally, man I miss those days.

LOVED that thing and I still own one. I never knew of its existence until I run into the store and see the thing on a shelf, like it was nothing.

Needless to say the next day I was playing yoshis island during break and people were so curious about it like it was alien technology or something.

My favorite was getting castlevania duo pack for this bad boy

Also the screen is so small and bright it get your eyes sore so bad it's a feature.

I did that too (Played Virtua fighter 3)
in my local Arcade.
Model 3 was a beast.
Oddly, it didn't diminish the wow factor of stuff on home consoles at the time. At least not in my experience.
Better days.
Not everyone crying about miniscule visual dificiencies like now.

The Wii.

The whole thing was so out there and exciting, it captured my imagination more than anything since the jump to 3D in the 90s.
Controlling a game with movement, swinging a sword or a tennis racquet or aiming Samus's arm cannon with my own arm, it was just so freaking cool.

Switch was pretty great too, but the portable aspect didn't appeal to me personally as much as motion control did.

There was more emphasis on art style back then (even on realistic games) that complimented the hardware limitations.

Today most AAA games go straight for photorealism and fall on their arses attempting it.

It's the N64. It's the greatest console reveal in gaming history.

The slow trickle of photos of the Super Famicom and its games in magazines at the time though was also pretty damn special, I have to admit.

The Wii was pretty much the first reveal I cared about and followed and it's still my favourite. There was so much insane speculation about what "Revolution" was going to be. The hype they sold with the reveal never materialized and it only became what they marketed when they released the Motion+ thingy. But I still think it's an awesome console even though it didn't have a very big library of games. Playing Metroid Prime with the wiimote is very immersive.
