Sure, the reaction was memorable and spawned several memes about cranky, but Nintendo got slammed HARD for revealing a character people already knew about.

But the reveal per se wasn't that bad, when I posted the leaked boxart the reaction was fairly positive about Cranky being playable.

Probabily they got really pissed that their surprise got spoiled but the had to show it anyway because it was too late to change program.
