I want a video of this in action. I guess with cartridges it's the same as a SNES -- it'd be awesome if the owner had a CD with a game on it.
That next port looks like an upside down HDMI port..
Anyone know what the cart says?
Are we sure that's not just a PS1 prototype?

I would assume Sony used Nintendo controllers and cartridges in the prototyping stage as it was cheaper than using prototype controllers and such?
Doesn't seem photoshopped, hmm....
I'm guessing it was just a design mockup or something. No way this actually existed but didn't leak until now.
edit: an s-video port on a console from 1995? something doesn't compute here.

The Megadrive had a S-video output which was released years before 1995.
So if it is one of these (and it seems like it's possible) did someone just essentially mod/kitbash a Playstation prototype solely for the purpose of trying to pull a fast one on the rest of the internet?
What a waste.
Looks like デモ用 so "for demo use" (in other words it's a demo disc)Anyone know what the cart says?
I never encountered this prototype before in my days of Nintendoage nerdage... otherwise I would of bought it off eBay or seen a sale of it. If real omggg!!!....added to the list of things to acquire.
Look at the controllers. This looks to be the SNES/SNES CD combo unit. It's a PS1 prototype, nothing to do with Nintendo. Neat to see some out there though.

No, it actually didnt. Youre thinking of the din port which looks like an svideo port. In fact, you have to actually mod a Megadrive for svideo.

Yeah I'm not saying its fake but definitely gonna need some backstory here. This is a bigger deal to me than buried ET cartridges, in terms of legendary elements in the gaming world.
All I have is questions...
Where did this come from, who posted the images, story behind how the user obtained it, does it work, whats on the prototype carts, ? etc....

It took forever, but I finally got some pics of my dad's super disc
Heh, I see some in here don't recognize the original SNES-Playstation.
Neat fake of the real thing if it isn't real.
Who is this and who is their dad
This belongs in a museum
It looks like one of those pirated knock off machines, even if it is real.

Didn't know Playstation initially was to support DVD
Don't the Japanese Playstations have their stuff in Japanese?
Yeah not sure where they got that bit of silliness. Consumer DVD was many years away from launch when these systems were being taped out.
Very attractive machine.
It's not, though. It's probably the expansion port. Nintendo labeled them NXT

The yellowing looks incredibly authentic.
