Any major news about Brawl? That was being hyped pretty heavily.

I don't really know what would be considered "major news" about Brawl (I haven't been keeping up on the developments) - any specific questions?

But yes, there is a huge article on it.

No demo disc...pretty standard issue except it was packed in a mylar-esque plastic and included a brief love note from Chris Slate (new editor) explaining what's up to subscribers.

That BWii score is such bullshit. Fucking Nintendo Power.

I want to love Bwii but from all the impressions I've heard... it doesn't quite live up. IGN podcast said the controls weren't really all that better with a nunchuck and wiimote.

I'm not sure how NP splits up their articles, but if there are any section titles inside that article, you could probably post those and we might be able to figure out if that might contain something new.

What were the beefs about Front Mission?

- No way to target a particular enemy, animations cannot be skipped
- Battles are tedious by '07 standards (each one can take up to an hour)
- Graphics have not changed much since Super Famicom iteration
- Grid screens a tad small for DS screens (difficult to tell units apart)

Conclusion is "still, if you're looking for solid, old-school strategizing, you need look no farther than Front Mission." Review by George S.

I highly doubt that it contains anything new. If anything, it is just going to be a recap of the announcements on the website and from the new trailers.

Battalion Wars GC got an 8.5 from Np, too... :-(

PW 2 got a 9.0 from them, as well...

and booooo @ powerpro and joker scores, yay for Zack and wiki and Bleach!

You know the only really disappointing thing about Nintendo no longer producing Nintendo Power? It's that it also means they don't produce any of their own guides.

I looked forever for a Nintendo branded Metroid Prime 3 guide, only to later figure out that the Prima one is the only option. I really liked the Twilight Princess and Paper Mario guides with the Wii branding in the corner. That and the fact that the Nintendo Power guides were also well written, not full of extra crap, and easy to follow.

Damn you Future Networks. Damn you. Oh, and damn you Prima too.

They list the "10 most exciting features" plus new screens.

10) An all-star cast
09) Four kinds of control
08) The craziest items yet
07) The best soundtrack ever
06) Ultimate fan service
05) Amazing arenas
04) Cool cameos
03) Final smashes
02) Adventure mode
01) Wi-Fi battles

MLB Power Pros 6.5

I also second this booooooourns. On the other hand, I now expect to be completely blown away by the other games listed. Anything less than gaming nirvana will result henceforth in a dearth in third party purchases.

lol?

Can you do that for Bwii?
Particularly, the multiplayer modes vs the single player if it talks about it

Have you played it? I want to believe but that score from Nintendo Power of all places is making me think about cancelling my order.

WTF? Did different people review FM and FE? And the graphics are from the PS1 version so they should look fine.

Seconded. Really just curious if it highlights anything new that's negative, or if any cons are just things carried forth from the original.

nice score for GH3. I got a q, does the game look nearly as good as the 360 version? I know its not 720p. And does it feature online play?
It has online play, no DLC [yet].

I played the first one and didnt like it much. So I didnt had much faith to the sequel. Still fans who liked the first, will enjoy this one.

- At times the story can be too intricate; often lose track of who good guys are
- Difficulty from mission to mission can be erratic
- Better graphics than GC (explosions, water, etc.)
- Control is better, pointer is great
- Camera is limiting and prevents you from being able to look directly overhead
- Gesture-based controls are good...but tilting remote to adjust plane elevation feels stiff & slow
- Wi-Fi offers assault mode, co-op (both are quick), and skirmish (longer)

schuelma

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
I find it odd that Nintendo didn't show off the single player BW2 at their event. Just sayin

Zack & Wiki is getting great scores everywhere, looks like a sure bet. I'll be pucking it up this week.

Not to start a flame or sound like a troll, but I'm wondering if it's getting such great scores because it's simply a great game, or if it's "great by default" because it's on a system with so much garbage.

Nice to see Fire Emblem getting well-received too.

It's online, no Download Content (DLC) to begin with, but there's vs and such things.

will learn eventually

Yes to all, only DLC will probably take some time to hit Wii
worst case:never

MLB Power Pros (Wii) 6.5

Wrong.

Even if it only had Wiimote controls, the game would still be infinitely better than either The Bigs or the rudimentary version of baseball contained within Wii Sports.

Can anyone summarize what the reviewer's alleged beefs with the game are?

So complaints are same from the original (erratic difficulty, limiting camera), with so-so tilt control. I'm still good.

Awesome. I'm all over this game. Other than the limiting camera and weird plane controls though, it sounds fantastic.

I'm surprised Fire Emblem scored so high, it looks like a straight rehash of the GCN one. I can see it getting between 5.0 and 6.0 from some publications.

Thanks man.
My only question is, when it says co-op... does it mean co-op the actual story, or just some copperative missions set up only for that purpose?

I'd love it if you could co-op the main game

Sin and Punishment Wii sequel not out of the question
October 23rd, 2007

Coming from the latest issue of Nintendo Power…

NP: When we spoke a couple of years ago, you mentioned that you would like to do a sequel to Sin and Punishment. Has the team given any more thought to that? And don’t you think it would be a perfect fit for Wii?

Masato Maegawa, Treasure: When we were originally working on Sin and Punishment [for Virtual Console], there was some discussion utilizing Wii-like controls, and I think now that we’re working more with the Wii, it is something we’d very much like to try.
