Nintendo shares sink with sluggish switch sales

Why do I always hear COVID helped the Switch? Didn't it help all 3? What am I missing?
They benefitted from Covid coming during Switch's peak, rather than during its start/end of life.
While i believe Nintendo has benefited this generation in numerous ways…1.) Re-releasing Wii U games, 2.) COVID boom w/ Animal Crossing, 3.) luck that their competitors have stumbled with 1st party software…

w/ this said, i worry Nintendo has waited too long and the Switch capitalization for Switch 2 will be diminished.

Despite what anyone says, i believe Nintendo is nervous as hell about releasing Switch 2. (Despite the fact, i personally believe it will sell the best out of Xbox Series, and PS5.)
MS stumbled, but I definitely wouldn't say Sony stumbled with first party games during Switch's lifespan.
And as every year, I keep seeing people saying that the Switch will sell better in the Holidays than the prior year because now they have better lineup than the year before.
Who is saying this?

It's time, Nintendo.
As a person who physical handles teets all I can say is :messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy:

I would say Sony has stumbled with 1st party software development this generation. It is worse than last gen thus far. I am not talking about hardware sales, though I personally don’t believe ps5 will sell as well as ps4.

And then have sales suddenly plummet? No, that’s not what a business does.
I was referring to get out AHEAD of recession. To build a solid install base, then look at price cuts and bundles once things go bad.

Now remember also, during 2008 financial crash in America, ”The Great Recession”, it actually helped video game manufacturers because people were buying consoles because they could not afford to “go out or on vacation” as much.

I’m not saying this would happen in 2025. But this is what did happen in 2008 era.

Btw, the yen is strengthening fast so if you guys are planning on importing stuff like physical games, figures, etc. I'd do it sooner rather than later.

The yen strengthened to the 141 level to the dollar Monday, a seven-month high. It had appreciated to the mid-146 level from the higher end of the 148 level in New York trading Friday. That came after a weaker-than-expected July U.S. jobs report stoked recession worries and raised questions about whether the Federal Reserve should have cut rates at its July meeting.
