Nintendo subsidizing EA games TV advertising?

Recent TV commercials for NFL Street, Goldeneye, and even Madden had the Nintendo Gamecube logo screen at the end. Is Nintendo subsidizing the cost of making and airing those commercials?

If they are, they're crazy for doing so. At this point, EA could probably drop GameCube altogether, and it wouldn't make much difference.

Nintendo is paying EA to produce GameCube-centric ads for EA's multiplatform games with the delusional idea that people will think they are GameCube exclusive.

That would be correct, Nintendo has for awhile now had an agreement with EA in that EA will push the Cube version of one of thier games and promote any and all connectivity features in exchange for lower liscening fees and whatnot.

They've had GC logos since Madden 2004 or so...

No, these are GameCube branded ads for EA games that ONLY show the GCN logo and box for the game and there is no logo or box for the PS2/Xbox versions.

Yeah, I've seen those commercials since Madden 2004. They just show a Gamecube logo after the commercial, no mentions of the other 2 consoles

As wario said, they have been like that for over a year. I can dig up a press released if you need one.

I think part of the same deal was that EA would utilize GCN-GBA connectivity to try to sell the gimmick, and more of both consoles.

I think this was part of Nintendos deal to keep EA support. Remember when there were rumors about Nintendo losing EA support right after they lost Sega Sports? Then there was that big connectivity annoucement.. Im pretty sure it was all done to ensure they kept EA support for most sports games.

because actual game sales for most EA games are pretty bad on the cube IIRC. At least one fanbase has resisted the assimilation..

Best money hat ever. :P

this tactic doesn't seem to be working, EA's probably laughing their way to the bank cause now they don't even have to pay for their commercials

Exactly, Nintendo pays for the commercials. People see the commercials and go to the store and buy the same game for a different console. Aside from squeezing their own workforce, EA has the highest profit margins in the industry because they can have other companies foot the bill for marketing their games.

I think people are delusinal for even thinking that. They do seperate N-gage, Xbox, Ps2 adverts too.
